[Elena accidentally manages to start broadcasting as she's moving through the hallway. The camera follows the light swing of her arm, providing a view of the floor and her legs. She's silent, although really tamping down on the urge to call to people she knows. Staying quiet and remaining as inconspicuous as possible seems like the more logical thing to do in this situation.]

[It's only once she's come to the viewing bay that Elena stops short with a small gasp.]

Oh my God...

[She had been debating if this was a dream or real, but something about seeing outside into space makes this all very, very real. Slowly, she approaches the glass. She places both hands on the glass and through her fingers, you finally get a look at the girl accidentally broadcasting to the entire fleet, confused and upset.]

No. We hear announcements from their spokespeople; Diamond and Beau, but they never reply to anything directed at them. Just dump some twee announcement on us then bugger off.

[Her brow furrows.]

What kind of announcements?

Usually just cheerful little taunts about what's happened, hints about what the next system might bring. Never anything actually useful. I think a lot of it is to try and bait us.

I wouldn't think they'd feel the need to try and bait anyone.

[Because, you know, it's not like this isn't all incredibly upsetting in the first place.]

And yet, they do. Maybe they think it'll produce an interesting result. Giver their viewers something to salivate over.

People will watch just about anything, these days. A show about otherwrodly people being forced to live together in space isn't that much of a stretch at all.

I guess I should just be grateful that we can all understand each other.

Hm. I imagine the augments have something to do with that. Internal translator, something of that ilk.

Comfortable or not, you're stuck with it. I doubt they much care either way on your feelings on the matter.

Hm, it does depend on how much you want to chance your luck with them. How brave you're feeling, or rather, how much you're prepared to take what they punish you with.
