[ The comm is set down on a table, facing down to give a wide angle of a young redheaded woman who is basically standing inside of a couch. Phasing! She looks to the camera, brows raised very pointedly!! And then walks forward to one of the walls leading further into the Marsiva and pushes.

Nada.

She looks back to the camera. Walks back to the couch, does a slow turn around while standing inside of it, then goes back and pushes on the wall again. After a moment, she steps back, uses both hands to point at the stubborn wall. ]

Is anyone else seeing this shit?

[ She looks away for a moment, examining the area around her before comparing it to Robin's background. ]

What kind of reassignment are we talking here?

Well, the Marsiva, where you are now, is more of a holding zone... I'm not sure what the rhyme or reason is, but eventually you'll be placed on a smaller ship with a crew of other castaways.

[he actually... leans over a little, turning the camera while he does. she can get a slightly better look at the space. it doesn't look spacious, but it's a lot cozier than the "sanitized white" look that the Marsiva boasts.]

I'm on the Bloodsport, myself. Captain Robin, at your service.

Ooh, Bloodsport. What kind of a name is that for a ship?

All right, Captain Robin, you've got the lowly peon Misha at your service. For now. If I end up on your ship, anyway.

I didn't name it. Though I still think it's better than the Wonderduck.

But it's a pleasure to meet you, Misha. Welcome to the show, I suppose.

The... the what? Are they throwing names in a blender or something?

Right, the show. Any indication how long our, uh, run is gonna be?

I really gotta wonder, yeah? A few of them sound like proper ship names, but then you get the Paisley, and whatever's going on with Three Twins over there...

[he shrugs a little. he's at least very casual about this whole thing; maybe there's nothing to worry about?]

No idea how long we're in it for, unless a "cycle" is a notable unit of measurement where you're from.

Paisley? Isn't that a color? [ Her nose is scrunched, brows furrowed. ] And, wait. Three Twins... Sextuplets? I mean, congrats on the flowery speech, but uh...

Not really, but a cycle could mean anything... especially in space.

Like I said, I didn't pick the names.

[he shrugs it off.] The "cycle" is our only clue. There have been eleven of them before this, if our hosts and ship computers are to be trusted.

You didn't change it either, though.

So, eleven "seasons" of a show and we have no idea how long the seasons are. That would almost make me think it's just a year but... how long has this been going already? It doesn't sound like we're all brought in equal here.

Eh. It's grown on me.

The Fleet's been roaming around for about seven months, now. I was among some of the first people to show up on these ships, so... I guess we'll see what happens when I hit a year here.

Guess that one's fair.

Wonder if they'll even acknowledge it being a year. Maybe they have some weird kind of space calendar?

Well, the clocks seem to run on Earth time, and use Earth months. No indication of a year out here, but two out of three seems pretty telling.

Okay, so.. huh. Mysteries piled upon mysteries. And we're supposed to be entertaining how?

More mysteries. Though I do seem to get a little pay boost whenever I start flirting with someone.

Ah, that's a thing--more money shows up in our bank accounts when we're getting "good ratings", whatever those entitle. I think it's a little different for everyone.

Aha. People like seeing you pander?

[ She takes that in well enough considering her almost-lack of reaction. ] What use is money here for us, anyway? Don't tell me we have to pay rent, too.

Of course. People are people.

[he has zero shame in this. he's making bank.]

Not rent, but you've got to pay if you want actual food or anything to wear that isn't the space equivalent of a janitor's uniform.

Sorry to deny you those ratings, then.

[ She's all for playing the situation to her advantage but if that means flirting with this guy, she's just not up for it. ]

That's all kinds of lame. But... I guess easier than getting an actual job anywhere.

[he's okay with that. he thinks she may be making it a bigger deal than it is... though he's not the one being pestered.]

That about describes the Fleet in a nutshell. Annoying, but rarely that painful.

And yet definitely not my preferred destination for a detour. So we just sit back, enjoy the ride, wait 'til the cycle ends before we can get on with our lives?

Unfortunately, that's kind of the route... There are people looking for another way out, of course, or at least a way to figure out who Atroma is and how we can get out of their bizarre little reality program, but there hasn't been a whole lot of progress.

[he shrugs. at least he looks a little less smiley about this part.]

Still, gotta start somewhere. You think you're the kind of mind who could figure it out?

Well... probably not alone, but hell if I won't try.

[ For all that Robin is less smiley, now she's the one grinning. If nothing else, she's good at thinking outside the usual boxes. It helps being genre-savvy. ]

Although communication on the subject is probably something of a bust considering we're being watched all the time.

[oh, well. his smirk returns, a little in turn.]

Eh, who knows? As powerful as they seem, I don't know if our leaders are quite as in-control as they say they are.

That, and, I've never actually found any cameras.

Control or not, they've definitely got the upper hand. For now. Hopefully.

[ She just shakes her head. ] You know, people say that, but do you know how easy it is to hide cameras? Like, in my day and age it's pretty easy. When we're in space and being pulled out of the universe or whatever, it's probably microscopic.
