Chocolate-flavored Dessert Cream on the House
[The bunks are filling up, but the new faces just keep appearing!
Are you a travel-weary passenger having trouble keeping your crew roster straight? Perhaps you are a fresh new recruit, finding themselves dumped into a new (and much less shiny) home. Or, maybe you've been around for a little bit and just haven't bothered meeting the other weirdos on this ship yet--what is their problem, anyway?
Well, this is the place for you!
All new passengers from the last few Shuffles, especially those who haven't met their crews yet, are welcome to post starter-comments here to invite those living on and visiting your ship to come and interact. Newbies could be just arriving on the ship, busying around where others can find them, or you can offering multiple options for interaction--however you'd like to set up your thread is fine. Just make sure to include the name of your ship in the header, so your crewmates can easily find you!
Everyone else-- go meet those newbies! Whether they are new to your own crew, or on ships you frequently visit, now is a great time to bump into them.]

for sye; post meeting i suppose??
so he settles in with a fresh cup of coffee (his third, now), and kicks his feet up onto the table. ]
So. What're the chances, huh?
works for me
She has her own cup and stands against a wall nearby, and doesn't say anything about Cas' feet on the table. It's hardly uncommon where she's from. It's not like there's food there he's ruining. Or mud to ruin food with.]
If I believed Atroma made their decisions at random, I'd say pretty slim. But.
[But she doesn't believe that. At all.]
Welcome anyway. Hope it's not too gloomy for you.
[With all the dimness and skulls and stuff.]
no subject
[ gloomy? nah, cas knows gloomy. real gloomy. this is, you know, bizarro hot topic stuff, not real gloom. hell, this is a four-star hilton by his standards, so he grins. ]
Nah, not at all. It's comfy.
no subject
[She glances around, the raps her knuckles against the wall.]
To each their own, but I don't think I could call anything with metal walls comfy.
[Reminds her too much of cages.]
But I'm glad you're settling in well.
no subject
[ which is hilarious, considering how stiff he used to be, but things change, and he changed, and changed quickly, considering how damned old he is. or maybe he's not adaptable, maybe he just doesn't care. who knows. he sure doesn't. ]
Guess it's not really what you're used to though, huh?

Most of my life, I was surrounded by stone walls. I spent years at the windows, climbing up to sit on the battlements, looking out at forest and field that I had never set foot on. I wondered what that grass would feel like, what it would be like to touch a tree for the first time. What did the ocean smell like? What were cities like and could any place really hold so many people you'd never meet them all?
Even though my leaving was far less than ideal, I'd never be able to go back to that. If you gave me a choice to forever sleep in a bed but locked in a tower, or sleep on the dirt and never be truly sheltered again, I'd take the latter. And this [a wave to the ship around them] is kind of like being boxed up again. Not my favorite thing.

cas takes a long drink from his coffee, stretching his shoulders over the back of the chair and smiling up at her, slow and easy. ]
Yeah, I remember your story. I suppose I can't blame you. But I think these ships are better than a dank tower, anyway - the final frontier, and all that. There's a lot to be seen out here.
no subject
Even nice cages are cages. And no one here was asked if they'd like to go on an adventure exploring the cosmos. It..flavors the experiences, I think, not having a choice.
no subject
I can understand that. I've never taken particularly well to being held down, either - or I didn't when I had wings, I guess. [ cas laughs, finishing off his mug and leaning forward again to set it down. ] Guess I've lowered my standards, huh?
no subject
[She gestures at his mug, half reaching for it.]
no subject
[ shaking his head, cas heaves himself to his feet with a groan. three cups of coffee and a ship meeting later he's feeling more or less human again. or, you know, as human as he.. ever is. ]
Nah, I'm good for now. Hungry, though. Feel like going out?
no subject
[Funds being frozen actual didn't concern her personally. She barely understands the Fleet credits system, and usually works on waystations and planets for direct coin. It whatever passed for it in space.]
no subject
Not in particular, but I've found a couple of pretty nice spots.
no subject
So we're going to wander until something strikes your fancy?
no subject
.. yeah, something like that, if you don't mind.
no subject
A not-quite-aimless walk, with good company. Doesn't exactly strike me as a hardship.
no subject
[ on to the hatch, then! ]
no subject
[That's unfortunately true, even if she thinks she's joking.
Once they are on the way station proper, she looks up to him.]
Lead the way. Wherever the way happens to be.
no subject
You like sandwiches?
no subject
I like food not made of goo.
[Which is to say, yes.]
no subject
[ no pun intended.
okay, maybe a little intended. anyway, cas falls into step on the main drag, glancing toward her. ]
Good, then. There's a little place not five minutes from here I'm thinking of.
no subject
Five minutes, hmm?
[She glances around. Not a lot of time to sing for their supper, so to speak. So she had two other options for funding their food.]
Do you have any moral objections to either slight dishonesty or out right manipulation for acquiring the coin for our meal? Just so I know if there's one that would make you uncomfortable.
no subject
.. what is it you've got in mind?
no subject
no subject
[ cas might've pegged her for a bit of a goody two-shoes; he's glad to be wrong. ]
Let's go with the first option. Show me what you're made of.
