Chocolate-flavored Dessert Cream on the House
[The bunks are filling up, but the new faces just keep appearing!
Are you a travel-weary passenger having trouble keeping your crew roster straight? Perhaps you are a fresh new recruit, finding themselves dumped into a new (and much less shiny) home. Or, maybe you've been around for a little bit and just haven't bothered meeting the other weirdos on this ship yet--what is their problem, anyway?
Well, this is the place for you!
All new passengers from the last few Shuffles, especially those who haven't met their crews yet, are welcome to post starter-comments here to invite those living on and visiting your ship to come and interact. Newbies could be just arriving on the ship, busying around where others can find them, or you can offering multiple options for interaction--however you'd like to set up your thread is fine. Just make sure to include the name of your ship in the header, so your crewmates can easily find you!
Everyone else-- go meet those newbies! Whether they are new to your own crew, or on ships you frequently visit, now is a great time to bump into them.]

[That's unfortunately true, even if she thinks she's joking.
Once they are on the way station proper, she looks up to him.]
Lead the way. Wherever the way happens to be.
no subject
You like sandwiches?
no subject
I like food not made of goo.
[Which is to say, yes.]
no subject
[ no pun intended.
okay, maybe a little intended. anyway, cas falls into step on the main drag, glancing toward her. ]
Good, then. There's a little place not five minutes from here I'm thinking of.
no subject
Five minutes, hmm?
[She glances around. Not a lot of time to sing for their supper, so to speak. So she had two other options for funding their food.]
Do you have any moral objections to either slight dishonesty or out right manipulation for acquiring the coin for our meal? Just so I know if there's one that would make you uncomfortable.
no subject
.. what is it you've got in mind?
no subject
no subject
[ cas might've pegged her for a bit of a goody two-shoes; he's glad to be wrong. ]
Let's go with the first option. Show me what you're made of.
no subject
Okay...
[She glances around at the crowd, keeping her gaze passing, so as not to look like she's searching for a mark. Or two.]
Stay a pace with me, and talk about something. A story or a joke. Not the weather.
[So saying she starts them walking a little faster, but not terribly so. Like they have somewhere to be, but not as if they're late.]
no subject
[ he grins easy, but he's genuinely interested here, and even while he's drumming up new distracting conversation, he's still watching her from the corners of his eyes - not enough to draw attention, but enough that he's being watchful of what she's doing. ]
But all right, all right. So, when we spoke while I was still on the Marsiva, you asked if I was a.. celestial. What's that about? You have angels where you're from?
no subject
Celestials are non-elemental Outsiders, meaning they aren't from the Prime Material. Angels are one of them. Particularly the ones we best know about. They used to serve the gods in battle.
[As she talks, she sometimes jostled, or lightly brushes a person. Never enough to be more than glanced at. She's not looking for people to notice her, at least not as anything more than a passing might ever draw attention. But she's coming away with a few credits here, a few there, always cupped carefully in her palm until she can naturally tuck them away.]
no subject
she's sure good, though. cas can hardly even catch her in the act, and he's trying to watch for it - but that's the beauty of misdirection after all, and he's trying not to draw attention to her, either. he keeps his expression as deadpan as he can, but there's a definite, amused gleam in his eye. ]
So, not so different from what I know. Except, you know, only the one God. What other types are there?
no subject
[By now, since she hasn't been caught, it's safe to say she's getting away with it. She takes out her haul, not to excessive, but enough to have a little spree on the meal.]
I think there's enough to feed us both here.
no subject
Keep 'em, I've got my own. I just wanted to see what you were capable of. You're uh.. really something else, you know that?
no subject
Nah, there's lots of people who can do this. I'm not even that good.
[She's... pretty good. She couldn't pick pocket, say, Renal Bloodscalp, but still she's no slouch. She's had most of her life to practice skills. And with people who expected it of her, which made it more challenging. But being remarkable is not really something she is comfortable with accepting.]
I'm hungry. Take my to this place you mentioned.
no subject
for now, he simply snags her elbow and turns her off the main drag, toward a little strip of crammed in shops. ]
It's right down here.
no subject
He. Touched her. It's just a little thing, absolutely casual. A taking of her elbow and leading her. Normal people did that to other normal people.
Which is to say, she can't remember the last time someone just took her by the arm in a friendly way. And in her shock she just goes along where he takes her. She may never get over being casually touched. By anyone.
At least, she pulls herself together by the time they get there.]
So... um, what's a sandwich anyway? Not made of sand, right?
no subject
but that was a long time ago. he's changed. he understands the value of touch, even a simple one, far more than he ever used to, and he's definitely more perceptive of others. so her reaction is.. noted, and once they reach the shop front he's quick enough to withdraw his hand, because he might be a touchy guy now, but he's not about to make her uncomfortable, either. especially if they're going to be roomies. ]
Ha! No, not at all. You've never had a sandwich?
[ he holds open the door for her to pass into the cramped little shop. ]
Oh man, you're in for a treat. I love 'em.
no subject
She glances around, not butchered by the smallness of the space. Lots of shops were like that at home. Even places with the word "Emporium" in the name were not very large. So this is nice to her. Comfortingly cramped.]
All right, I'll take your word on it.
[Her smile comes back, easy and pleasant.
She idly touches her elbow with her opposite hand.]
Pick whatever you think is good.
no subject
there's a couple in line ahead of them, so cas pauses for a moment, sliding his thumbs into his belt loops to squint up at the menus over the counter. ]
Well, you like meaty food, or green stuff?
no subject
[She comes from a place where being overly picky is usually not an option.]
no subject
[ good. easy for him to decide, then. cas isn't terribly picky either, and after years of canned food, anything fresh at all is a godsend. after a brief moment of squinting up at the menus, he nods and glances toward her again. ]
Try the BLT.
no subject
[When the people in getting of them step away, she moves up and orders. And then passes far more than the cost in credits to the tender. She glances over her shoulder, giving Cas a cheeky grin.]
And whatever he wants too.
no subject
Reuben for me, please. And uh, two waters, I suppose.
[ and gently elbowing her side, while glancing toward the pick-up counter. ]
We'll pick 'em up over there.
no subject
I worked hard to buy you dinner. I couldn't let it go to waste.
