SECRET TUNNEL

[A look of major despair on Ludger's face. This is not what he wished for when he wanted to helpfully follow his captain into the forest.

[Ludger slaps his hands over his ears as if he expects the song to start at any second now. A terrible tunnel is one thing, BUT WHAT IF THE SINGING STARTS]

[Allen meanwhile is standing next to Ludger, glancing down at him with a bit of pity before he tries smiling at Sokka (it's a forced smile, but whatever!). Sure, he too is really regretting his choice of following Sokka into the forest- but they can't give up! They can't give into despair! If they do, they'll be stuck in here forever!]

I suppose that's true...but it's okay! I'm sure we'll find a way out of here!

[FORCED SHONEN OPTIMISM GO]

[Sokka turns to point at Allen.]

NO! No optimism is a terrible idea. It won't get us outta here. We need badgermoles, but I don't see any badgermoles. Do you guys see any badgermoles?!!!

[Your captain might be having a mini breakdown. Following him was the worst idea ever.]

[He shakes his head, but Sokka's distress moves him. He steps over to Sokka, expression serious, and claps his hand on Sokka's shoulder.

It will be okay, Captain. Trust him. He has done tunnel quests before.

Then he crouches down beside the cat that is with him because this is Ludger Will Kresnik, do you really think he'd do this without a cat on hand (her name is Alicia) and looks in her eyes.]

Can you lead us out of here?

[There is a short meow, and then the cat starts to trot off. Ludger gestures for Sokka and Allen to follow Alicia to safety.]

[Wow. That sure is a mental breakdown! He was about to try to tell Sokka in a maybe delicate fashion to snap out of it (maybe delicate) when Ludger does his....thing...]

[....Okay, he's seen some weird shit in his life, but this...]

...Ludger. Is that a magical cat? Please tell me it's a magical cat.

[Sokka was about to wail unto the heavens how screwed they were when...Ludger starts talking to the cat. He peers, curious. Maybe it IS a magical cat?]

...I guess it's no weirder than following a badgermole. Less chance of being eaten, too.

[He shrugs at Allen and starts to follow the cat. He's followed more insane things in his life. Like Aang.]

[Ludger gives Allen a sharp look for doubting Alicia, and so he takes to following the cat through the paths. Forward they go, through twists and turns . . .

Until there is a meowing in the distance.

Ludger straightens up and dashes over. Alicia wanders off the path behind some rocks and meows. When she returns, it is with a second cat.

Ludger looks just so happy as he takes from his pocket a kitty treat (guess who sponsored it) and hands it to the new cat. Now there are two cats patiently waiting at Ludger's side to see what they should do next.]

[Wait that didn't...answer his question at all. But oh well too late for that since the other two seem to be following the cat anyway! So he trails behind them, trying to remind himself to be OPTIMISTIC- while also wondering about the mental state of his two companions.]

[When Alicia returns with a second cat, he well...he doesn't know what to think]

Another cat? How did it get down here?

[Sokka was actually hoping this might work. Doing crazy stuff sometimes works best for them, after all. But this...this is not an exit to the tunnel.]

That's...not what we wanted, Ludger.

The cat needed to be rescued.

[Are you saying Alicia should have ignored a cat in need? Are you? Are you?? And now they now have two cats!]

[Allen, who holds no great love for cats, can't help but mentally note that second cat didn't look undernourished nor in to be dire straits- which makes him really question Ludger's claim that it needed to be rescued]

[But. He knows not to argue with an animal lover. If it was a dog, he'd probably be the one vouching to save it.]

That's....all well and good, I suppose, but all of us don't find a way out of here soon enough, we'll be the ones who need rescuing.

[In Sokka's opinion, if an animal can't be of any use, it is FOOD. Cats aren't really good either way. Not on a space ship, anyway.]

We need a way out. We don't need more cats. [He waggles a finger at Ludger.] No. More. Cats.

[Ludger steps forward, between Sokka and the cats. No one upsets the cats. Or threatens them.

Except, after a brief conference, the cats are now wandering off again. Ludger realizes a moment later and starts to follow after them. This time, they actually seem to maybe be leading everyone out?]

[Wow this is getting to be some tense shit. Over some cats. Allen's really not sure it's smart to piss off a crazy cat guy, so he'll try to mediate by patting Sokka on the shoulder]

At least the cats will be good for catching any rats that get out?

[Assuming these cats aren't totally useless anyway]

[But oh look at that the cats are moving again. He's...really not so sure about following them, but he's not sure what other choice they have so...he gives a shrug and follows]

[Sokka stares at Ludger's retreating form, then turns to Allen.]

I'm pretty sure he's crazy. We're following a crazy person, Allen.

[And yet, follow he will.]

[Believe it or not, the cats are helping to get them out by this point. They do not fall prey to the sort of illusions foolish humans falter under! Alicia just wasn't going to leave without Slay, apparently. It all seems to be going pretty well.

[Allen hisses back to Sokka in a whisper]

Shhhh! Not so loud!

[What if he sics his feline friends on us??? GOD SOKKA]

[But he keeps following..since he has no other choice. At least it doesn't look like they are walking around in circles anymore. Maybe this was a magic cat]

I'm pretty sure he'll sacrifice us to the cat spirits if he hears us or not!

[Okay, he can't help himself, because he heard that. So he turns around, fixes his gaze on Sokka and Allen . . . and gives a super evil MUAHAHAHAH supervillain laugh.

Because he's a total dweeb.]

[sdfjklsdf LUDGER PLZ. That sure startles Allen! He gives a yelp and even jumps a little at the sudden loud evil laughter (especially since man nothing echos like a tunnel)]

[The sound that comes after that is close to a verbal keysmash] Ludger!

[It's hilarious. Ludger has to laugh, like a normal person this time, because they're being ridiculous. He shakes his head at them and gives them a, "Really, guys?" look. Does he really look like a serial killer?

Ignore the hundreds of worlds he has destroyed.]

Sokka- let go of me!

[he gives a huff; trying to pretend Ludger didn't freak him out at all. Because that's uncool and childish and- he seems normal now right?? Right??]

[Sokka peels himself off and takes a deep breath.]

Ahahaha. Yeah. Funny. I wasn't fooled for a second.

[He'll brush himself off, act casual]

SO! We were heading off in that direction? Let's keep doing that.

[Ludger thinks he makes great jokes, okay. And so far, the cats are being very well-behaved. No more cats trying to find other cats. Here's hoping there are also no more hallucinations or other bad things as they follow kittens along.]
