Meanwhile on the loveboat (mingle log)
Who: Crew of the Blue Fish, anyone who's been invited, and any visitors! So basically everyone
Broadcast: Nope
Action: On the Blue Fish, mostly probably in the kitchen and the mess hall because PARTY
When: Today~
[If there's anything this freaking ship loves, it's food. Somehow, a dinner got planned to welcome the new member. And then other people got invited. And then the dinner pretty much turned into a party with a lot of food. Needless to say, Kairi has been very busy preparing food all the day for this.
There's a lot of meat, per the captain's request. But there's also veggies, some fruit, pasta, and even brownies! There are also two pizza pies. Basically, Kairi just cooked a bunch of food and hoped it would be enough, as she had no idea how many people were coming.
SO DIG IN, BLUE FISH AND GUESTS. Also mingle and be social and all that jazz!]

[And so, he decided to approach her with a friendly smile]
I don't think we've met before. Are you one of Hawke's friends, or Dr. Crusher's?
[Since you're clearly an Adult, he's guessing you're not with the teenagers]
no subject
[Yes. She is an Adult. She is the Most Adult.]
Aveline Vallen. Of the... SS Golden, I suppose.
[She makes a face. She's still annoyed about all this.]
no subject
[The adultiest adult to ever adult. He likes Hawke, but the dude sure is a quirky one]
[And yep, sure is catching that annoyed look]
Nice to meet you, Aveline, despite the circumstances. I'm Allen Walker of the Blue Fish. Did you arrive recently?
no subject
[File the joking in with "helping people" and "killing people."]
I arrived just a few days ago, in fact. I'm still getting used to everything. This is a lot different from home.

None of this sort of technology there?
no subject
no subject
Though, it usually helps to remind myself that if magic, it tends to beep less than advanced technology!
no subject
[Riiiight. Okay. That is completely and totally helpful advice for someone whose concept of "advanced technology" is a windmill.]
Is there anything like this where you're from, then?
no subject
[he shakes his head]
Not really. I mean, there was cameras and sea ships - but nothing as advanced as any of these things.
no subject
[She purses her lips, irritated.]
Well, Allen. Did you find it hard to adjust?
no subject
Well, it's been a long time since I've been home. I was somewhere else before I got brought here that had technology.
But...still, I remember it taking awhile to get used to that. Sometimes I still encounter things I don't understand. [He shrugs] But humans adapt, we're good at that. So even if it seems impossible now, I'm sure you'll get used to all the technology eventually.
no subject
[She actually doesn't want to be here long enough to get used to it, but that's hardly something she gets any say in. Fine.]
Where are you from?
no subject
What about you?
no subject
[Unsurprisingly.]
Thedas. Specifically, Kirkwall, in the Free Marches.
no subject
[He shrugs. He's so used to people not being from Earth it doesn't faze him in the slightest]
Kirkwall- like Hawke? What's it like? I've asked him things, but he seems to have trouble giving straight answers unless it's a punchline.
no subject
[What's it like? That's... a complicated question.]
It's not a bad city. They're harder on mages there than elsewhere, and it has its share of crime and poverty. But it's not a bad city.
no subject
Hawke mentioned something about mages. How people blame them for the Darkspawn?
no subject
That's right, if you believe what the Chantry says. At the very least, people are scared of them.
no subject
no subject
I'm not sure. It's either true, or it's not. If it is, I don't see why modern mages should be punished for the actions of a few long ago.
no subject
Makes sense. Sounds like they're just trying to find an excuse to dislike people. [Which is...pretty typical really]
Still, Kirkwall doesn't sound bad. I hope you get to go home to it soon.
no subject
[And Kirkwall seems to have more than its fair share of blood magic, too.]
What's... what did you say, the United Kingdom like?
