[The video feed cuts on to show Beverly, grinning with amusement, though her tone remains professional as she addresses the fleet.] Attention, Drift Fleet! This is Dr. Crusher of the SS Blue Fish. [Sorry guys, it's going to be a while before she stops talking to the network like she's in Starfleet.] We've received an... interesting delivery here on board the Blue Fish that I think some of you will want to see.

[She steps back from the camera for a moment, revealing the Blue Fish's cargo bay, stacked floor to ceiling with crates of what looks like... shampoo? You'll also see the Blue Fish's intrepid Captain Sokka in the background, mouth open in angry shock about this intrusion into his cargo bay. Beverly walks over to the nearest crate and pulls out a bottle of shampoo to hold up closer to the camera. The shiny red bottle looks suspiciously similar to a certain famous salon brand of hair care products from late 20th or early 21st century Earth, if any of you happen to be familiar with that. "JOHN FLOOTER" is emblazoned prominently on the top along with the words "RESPLENDENT RED" in gold.]

In case you can't tell what is in the crates, it's shampoo, and tons of it.

[Her face pops back onscreen.]

Someone out there must really have a thing for redheads. [She waggles her eyebrows.] But who can blame them?

[She sets the shampoo back in its box before continuing.]

Of course, it's not all for just me and Kairi! They sent a list, which I'll upload onto the network, and if your name is on it, you can come by the Blue Fish at any time to pick up your gift. Or, if it's easier for you, just let me know and I'll bring your box by your ship at your earliest convenience. Thank you!

((ooc: if your character is a redhead, assume they're on the list. someone in the audience just really wanted an excuse for all the redheads to get together, okay???))

[ Misha merely raises her hand and snaps her fingers as if a plan has been foiled. ]

Darn, and here I thought I was gonna get'cha. [ Her demeanor changes and she shrugs. ] What? No, it's fine. Trust me, I know the similarities. Name's Misha.

[Beverly grins.] Nice to meet you, Misha. So am I allowed to ask? Are you and Claudia twins or from parallel universes or ...?

Well, not that I know about. There's an age difference and probably a huge difference in history...

Eh, but what do I know? Seems more like the random number generator just hit the same thing twice.

Provided neither of you is an evil version of the other, I think we'll be alright.

[Her tone is joking but yeah, that's a real thing in Star Trek land.]

Though I suppose you wouldn't tell me even if you were, would you?

Seeing as there doesn't appear to be any sort of policing force here in the first place, you never know. What would anyone even do if someone showed up and proclaimed themselves evil?

[Beverly's expression suddenly becomes very serious as she thinks about this.]

So far there hasn't been any need for one, but it's a good question. Hopefully one we won't have to find out the answer to.

I've heard this thing has been going for about seventh months now, so I guess some kind of congratulations are in order for going so long without getting that figured out. Still, I hear you. Maybe we won't have to find out.

Anyway. [ She over her shoulder indicating the massive stock of shampoo. ] This happen often?

Individuals get sponsor drops every now and then, but I don't know that it's ever been to quite this extent.

[She grins mischievously.]

Though, a couple months ago, several people in the fleet did receive gifts of ah... an intimate nature.

Sponsor drops? Jesus, it's just like home. [ Of course everyone wants superheroes to sponsor their products and show them off while they're out and about superfighting. Misha seems more amused than anything, though. ]

Oh, wait. Intimate? How intimate?

Oh, you know, prophylactics, lubricants, that sort of thing. All specially scented and flavored. Or so I heard.

[Because she didn't get any. Boo.]

[ Misha isn't so sure that's an actual hearsay, but she won't call Beverly on it. ]

God, let's hope this shampoo isn't lined with some kind of aphrodisiac itself. We're not on that kind of show, far as I can tell.

[Oh Misha, this is the woman read her grandma's sex journal and then explained the details explicitly to one of her friends. She would not be trying to hide her possession of some condoms and lube.

She waggles her eyebrows at Misha's suggestion.]

That would certainly explain a lot.

[ Sounds like Misha's kinda woman, tbh. Badass role models who don't shy away from the good stuff. ]

Oh my God. Would it? Are you yanking my chain?

[There are a lot of responses Beverly could make to that, but she decides to be nice. They only just met after all. Still, she can't quite wipe that grin off her face.]

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. Don't worry, I scanned all the crates to check for any abnormalities. No toxins, no mind-altering substances, and definitely no aphrodisiacs. I've had enough of that sort of thing happen to me already to be cautious.

[ Damn. She's almost disappointed, but the fact that someone has made the joke is pretty good on its own. ]

Good to hear it. I'd rather believe someone else in this mess over a random, faceless product drop. [ Her head tilts. ] Speaking of... you said Doctor, right? On the broadcast? Please tell me MD.

A medical doctor, yes.

[Suddenly all professional concern.]

Why? Have you been experiencing any problems?

Well, not problems but I've been hoping to poke around. Those things in our heads... I don't suppose you've had any volunteers on trying to take it out yet?

[She shakes her head emphatically.] Don't even think about it. Some people have tried, but any attempted removal of the augment causes severe, debilitating pain.

Uh, no, did you not notice the part where I'm coming to a doctor about it instead of doing it myself? What I'm saying is — there has to be anesthetics here and all, right? Something?

[She shakes her head and folds her arms.] There aren't any full surgical facilities here - probably for this very reason. What good is giving us the augments if they're just going to turn around and hand us the tools for getting them out? Even the painkillers I have are not strong enough for this.

[A pause.]

Trust me, if I had the proper equipment, I would have already tried to get the thing out myself.

[ Misha takes a deep breath, obviously not pleased with this answer. ]

All right, I get it. But, hey, keep me on the top of your list if that ever changes, okay? I can't... do this longer than necessary.

When I got the opportunity I was going to try it on myself first but well... if you're willing....

[She bites her lip.]

We'll see. I can't and won't make any promises. I understand why you want it out: I do too. Brings back some... unpleasant memories.

Trying it on yourself seems like a terrible idea. I am definitely up to be the guinea pig here.

[ Unintentionally, there's a slight, ironic smile to the comment. ]

Tell me about it. What did they think we were gonna do with alien tech stuck in our hears?

I'm certain they expect at least some of us to try to take it out. [Her eyes narrow and she practically spits out the next part, though it's clear her anger isn't directed at Misha.] I wouldn't put it past them to get some sort of sick entertainment of watching that, of watching someone in pain.

No doubt. This is probably all some kind of game to them. I'd love to see what kind of contract they have written up or other legal reasoning that says they can do this. There has to be documentation somewhere, right?

[ She sighs, shakes her head. ]

Then again... even if there is, we don't exactly have easy access.
