[What's this? An actual transmission from Kaneis? It's on voice only, and guess what- he sounds as apathetic as ever.]

Hey, I don't want to alarm anyone, but I was looking at the scans earlier while trying not to crash into these space rocks- asteroids? Whatever.

Anyway, you remember those guys that tried to kill us about two months ago? The guys that kicked the living crap outta us? Those guys? Yeah, I think they're back again. At least, that's what the scanner says, it's hard to really get a good read.

[He gives a yawn] Yeah. Just thought someone would like to know.

Again? Did they not get their fill of us last time? What could they possibly gain from attacking us a second time?

[ guess who's sitting right behind you in the captain's chair? yeah, he's just patiently waiting until Kaneis finishes his transmission before speaking up. ]

Guess it was too much to hope that those guys wouldn't come back, huh?

I dunno. It's kinda weird. I mean if they wanted to beat us, it would've been smarter to do that when we were still making repairs.

[Sheena's expression is pretty severe. She's trying to make plans in case the enemy ships move in and attack again.]

The Vanquish has a pilot and shields, but we don't have any way of firing back.

Clay? I think he's pretty good. He's an 'astronaut' at home, he said. I guess piloting spaceships is what he does for a living.

If your ship can't fire back, though, I might ask him to stay in your airspace. We could probably take some of the hits for you.

Perhaps they are. They are, after all, something that creates action in this blighted hole of a place.

[You can pretty much HEAR the sneer. Between his experiences in Tevinter, Kirkwall and Exsilium, Fenris' trust for The System is pretty much zero. ]

Perhaps we are not entertaining enough for them.

[Well that suggestion of a plan certainly gets rid of the apathetic tone and right into verbal freak out.]

But he's yelling. Zelos, uh, doesn't yell at her much. Her first instinct is, of course, to yell back, because they are really not a very functional couple.]

We have shields and a great pilot! It's not like I'm offering to throw my whole crew into a fire!

Half-joking. I got a piercing and spent time with my girlfriend? But really, didn't do much to get ratings.

It is hard to know what constitutes as entertaining. Perhaps some found that riveting.

[He would really like his life to stop being trash now, though. Do you think it could stop? For like...a day? ]

And they will do it with those false happy tones and that blighted music.

Not according to my money account. [It's so depressingly low] In the next system, I'm either gonna have to find some actual profitable jobs or find out I have a long lost twin if I wanna be able to afford anything.

[ yeah, guess who was right behind Kaneis and heard the whole thing ] It doesn't matter if your ship has shields, you could get seriously hurt if these guys attack you! Our ship has shields and we all still got banged up from the last time!

[ saying Sheena or her crew could get hurt is, of course, putting it very lightly. anything could happen out here, after all... ]

We already said no sacrifices, Sheena, no matter what! The last thing either of us wants is for you to get hurt, or worse!

I have found that the mercenary work pays well. It is nothing glamorous by any means, but if you need the coin, it is well enough.

...And possibly easier to acquire than a long lost twin.

Blugh. I still do not see the point of it. It gets everywhere.

[Whoa he had forgotten Lloyd was behind him and it even makes him jump a little in his seat when Lloyd starts yelling behind him. And what do you know, he's saying things better than Kaneis's plan of verbally keysmashing his issues at her since goddess why did she not get taking shots for him was the opposite of what he wanted?!]

Yeah, guess you're right. I've been doing mercenary work in a few systems but I dunno - guess I'm too used to the steady paycheck the clinic would give me. It was shitty pay, but I knew there'd always be more in a week or two if I used it all. [The whole part he was a rich kid before this other world nonsense started doesn't help either] Gotta get over that and spend better, I guess. Or find that twin.

It's....festive?
