A cry for help
[a distress call has been tracked across the void, finally leading back to the source. a hulking crippled ship, teeming with hostile alien life, now lies before you.
what do you do? do you dive in or hang back? are you here to learn, play, build, or observe?
however you choose to proceed, your audience is out there somewhere, watching.]
ooc: here is a good ol' themed mingle to get you all started! and don't feel limited by the prompts and what they describe--they're just there as idea-starters, so feel free to go anywhere and do anything.
have fun!

Just. Noting that for posterity. Anyway, Hawke is out in front, as ever, because he's terrible at proper mageing and tends to lead by default unless someone he's actually willing to take orders from is in the vicinity. Those people include: his father, and ...well okay, if it were like, life and death he would cheerfully take orders from anyone, present, but the point is: sucking at mageing. ]
Do you really call her 'the Commander' all the time? Seems like it must be awfully unwieldy to shout when someone's just popped an artery or something.
[ It's hideous in here, by the way. This far out the walls of what was probably once a fairly sizable corridor are crawling with activity of the icky, grabby sort, and while Hawke certainly never ducks (sanely) out of the way of danger, he doesn't always go leaping into its arms, either. ]
The important thing is that we're all making new memories now. I'll have to mark this down on my calenda--shit.
[ ...that would be less commentary on his calendar and more that a few chittering new friends have just dropped out of an air vent above them. ]

[Well, stop sucking at mageing, Hawke, when you have your tank here to go in front. Aveline raises her gun and fires without hesitation. It's a bit unsettling how natural this thing feels, actually.]
Bloody things.

Also, her face gets all scrunchy like she's smelled something sour whenever I call her it now.
[Because she actually isn't his commanding officer, not anymore, though he'd much rather give the title to her than his new superior. It's a combination of deep-seated respect, habit, and a constant urge to be the perpetrator of as many scrunched up faces as possible that keeps him saying it. The noble order of the Grey Wardens, everyone.
He also says this whilst magic is in the process of pooling all around him, swirling energy that's aimed at the three of them more frequently than it is the skittering things ahead of them. Fire is more satisfying, but being that the bugs have proven to be sturdy enough against that so far, Anders has fallen back on the support portion of his job description almost exclusively. Speed, strength: whatever degamified buff you need, he's got it covered. The day he figures out how to get that elemental weapons spell to work on bullets is going to be truly terrible and magnificent.
If Hawke gets extra stacks of defensive spells, well, we've already established the truly terrible at mageing thing.]
Did someone remember to announce we were coming?

Does Donnic always use your title, Guard Captain? Your bedroom activities are starting to sound much more exciting than I give them credit for.
[She pauses then to pry her dagger from a particularly stubborn exoskeleton, luckily the last alive of their current attackers.]
You know, I don't think anyone did tell them. There don't seem to be nearly enough to go around.

[... actually, ouch. She wishes he was here. Everything would still be stupid but she'd at least have him to go home to. But nope, now is the time to focus on shooting things. And not accidentally shooting Isabela (she would never do that).]
I'm not going to complain about not having enough. If we have to go through this ship and exterminate every one of these things, then that's what we'll do.
I APOLOGIZE IF YOU GET 30 BILLION NOTIFS??? dw is doing something weird
Meanwhile, being all cossetted by defensive spells and everything he's suffered no real consequences via terrible mageing, and would like to remind everyone in addition to magic he does have one of them big ol' KATHOOM guns. Of course, he's not using it, but never mind that. ]
Well, it's bound to change in the next five minutes now that you've said that.
[ He hunkers down next to one of the magnificently perforated corpses and ...you know, yanks off a leg so he can take it back to Beverly. Yay!!
That accomplished, for a given value of uh, accomplishment, onward! In typical RPG terms, YOU COME TO A FORK IN THE PASSAGE. CHOOSE (L) FOR LEFT OR (R) FOR RIGHT.
Where are you going? How should Hawke know? Does he look like the leader of this merry band of misfits? ]
did you mean: dw every day
[This is his inspired response to said yanking off of body parts, as he pointedly circles his way around the plethora of buggy corpses that have been left in their wake.
Also he thinks Aveline is lying about said bedroom activities, but actually is not inclined to make a bad joke about it at this immediate point in time (that is to say: now that she's just gotten finished blasting a bunch of creepy crawly bug things in the face). He's filing it away, though. For a rainy day.]
If we could avoid doing the whole extermination of the ship thing, I'd appreciate it. I've got plans this afternoon.
[He does not. He peers into the gloom of each passageway, one after the other, and turns back to the others with an equally as inspired shrug. They're both dim and come complete with unsettling scratchy noises, he wasn't going to get much out of that anyway.]
So, which is it? Ominous Hallway A, or Ominous Hallway B? I have a sneaking suspicion we'll meet more of our new friends regardless.
WOW HELLO I AM SORRY.
It sounds like there might be a few more down that way, although if we really want to make this ship safe for the poor, hapless souls who aren't as well armed as us I think we should do both,
[She genuinely wants to help. She doesn't just want to kill things. Really.]
