A cry for help
[a distress call has been tracked across the void, finally leading back to the source. a hulking crippled ship, teeming with hostile alien life, now lies before you.
what do you do? do you dive in or hang back? are you here to learn, play, build, or observe?
however you choose to proceed, your audience is out there somewhere, watching.]
ooc: here is a good ol' themed mingle to get you all started! and don't feel limited by the prompts and what they describe--they're just there as idea-starters, so feel free to go anywhere and do anything.

SPACE | broadcasts, action on the fleet ships, etc.
this can be for reaction tags, ship-specific action, network broadcasts, whatever!]
vanquish and etc;
[Sheena addresses everyone from the bridge.]
Hey, everyone. Just wanted to check in.
There's something broadcasting from inside that ship, and... you know, it's dangerous. It's some kind of distress signal. If we go down to check it out, I want us to go as one unit. If you know someone on another ship with weapons and armor, that's good too. I'm gonna ask my friends from home to come along, so um... the more the merrier, I guess.
If you get stuck in a bad place, run back to the ship. There's no harm in ducking out if you can't handle whatever's down there.
[LLOYD, KANEIS, COLETTE]
[Time to hit up the communicators.]
I want to see if anyone needs help on that weird ship, but my crew doesn't have much in the way of weapons or armor. Are you planning to go down there?

and maybe procuring Kairi a wok, Hawke is back on the Blue Fish, collapsed in a minorly disgusting heap in its kitchen. He'll wash off all the bug glop and stuff later. Right now there are more important things, and that is the totally adult rite of 'yay we didn't die!' with alcohol and Isabela. ]You know, [ he pours, which since this is a special occasion (or an occasion of any kind) let's say is relatively drinkable ] sometimes I almost miss all that.

ENTRYWAY | central hub of activity
maybe this open, vulnerable area can be made safer. maybe supplies and emergency stations could be set up here. there's probably someone here who needs to be fed, or patched up after their latest expedition. then again, maybe it would be better to hang back near the ships and avoid as much venturing out as possible.
do you miss the vacation stations yet?]

[This whole situation was worrying, but it wasn't enough for Allen to refuse to at least scope it out. So, he insisted that even if he was a medic, he'd be just fine if he was on the away mission for this creepy, creepy ship. Besides, it was better they set up some supplies there, in case something went wrong.]
[Which getting on the ship? Allen can't so much as set down his bag before a stray bug comes out and tries to get at him. It reaches within pincher distance, but as it take a swipe, Allen jumps out of the way and counters by slashing back at it with sudden giant talons- giving it a huge gash in the armor.]
Gah! Space bugs again!?
[WHATS WITH SPACE AND BUGS?!]
[Either way, you can either let Allen do the fighting or help out!]
[B. NO SPACE BUGS]
[If you want to talk to Allen when there's not hordes of space bugs, but still want to be on the creepy ship, he'll be occasionally found in the entryway for downtime. Usually helping with the injured or taking a rest himself. Stupid space bugs.]

[Theoretically, Sheena isn't alone. But she does have a tendency to... run off into danger. There's a roaming pack of bugs that she decides she can take care of. When kicking them in the face doesn't work, she reaches for her knives and starts throwing them.
She pegs a bug in the head and it's pretty nasty. But, hey, it's slightly more effective than slapping them with paper. Two more encroach on her, and she starts to retreat. Even so she's light on her feet, whirling and slashing with kunai when they get too close.]
[B.]
[When there aren't any bugs around, Sheena's helping set up a base of sorts. She helps lift scrap metal (that is way too heavy for most people) and pile it into barriers so that the bugs will have a harder time getting through. A choke point, basically.
One might also find her perching atop the makeshift wall and keeping watch.]

[Did someone say food? Because here's a feast (and a tiny mage). He has a table set up with refreshments, because a mage is always prepared. There's water, tea, conjured coffee, and platters of food. There's sandwiches, various fruit tarts, and warm cookies.
Belthazar may or may not notice anyone partaking; he's more interested in a book on some otherworldly magic. Of course.]
[B.]
[Who needs a group? Probably this guy. Thankfully, he isn't far. He's tossing every kind of arcane spell he can think of at the space bugs, followed by ice and fire, just to see what happens. He keeps their attacks at bay with a shield made of ice but it isn't forever.
A bug breaks through. It raises a claw to slice him-- and he blinks out of existence, reappearing about fifteen yards away.]

I want to set up a centralized medical station in case anyone is injured. We can provide first aid and maybe set up the ship medbays for anything more serious.

and one might imagine that he'd stay inside if he has no interest in the whole thing, but... here he is. he spends more time hanging around the entryway than holing up in his own ship, actually.
usually found sitting on a supply crate or leaning against something in whatever area seems 'safest' at the time, he's mostly just watching--quiet and humorless until someone else wanders close. then he'll smile, pretend to be friendly, and pretty much dare anyone to make him work.]

[A - for those on the go]
[If you're heading out to explore or work on repairs? Shirley might be there asking if you need any supplies, or offering a temporary defense boost by way of her magic. If you're coming back and you don't seem to be dying, she'll be checking up on what you might have found. If you're coming back and you do seem to be dying...well, she's definitely going to leave the dedicated medical support in that case.]
[B - for those sticking around]
[If you're hanging around the entrance helping out in some capacity or just observing, she'll be there asking after you when you have a moment free. What are you doing, do you need anything, could you use more help? Alternatively if you're looking for something to do, she can direct you to somebody who does need help - holding flashlights, maybe, or running food and water.
Occasionally, she'll also find a bit of unoccupied space if there is some and take a second to catch her breath.]
It's been a while since things were this busy...

[When Vash first enters the ship he's not as silly and jokey as he usually is. Still, not too serious just yet. Then the bugs attack and any trace of the old Vash vanishes as he works hard to make sure everyone escapes the onslaught alive.
Everyone escapes alive. That goes for the bugs too. Don't be surprise if there's a Vash suddenly tripping over his own feet and knocking you off your feet as you're about to land the killing blow on a bug.
Of course, he can't save everyone-er, every bug. Once the fighting is all over and some bugs lay dead he looks them over one by one. Tears in his eyes, but he's quiet about his sorrow over the loss of the life.]
B.
[Vash will continue exploring the ship. If he comes across the bugs he doesn't bother them so it doesn't attack him. Quietly watching them. He will stop people from bothering the bugs if someone comes close.] Why are you doing this? [Spoken out loud as he watches the bugs tirelessly working away.]

[While Wanda had not been in the first wave of brave fleet members to disembark and engage with the alien bugs, she soon followed with a group of reinforcements. People's lives were in danger down there, and Wanda wanted to do her part to try and protect as many as possible.]
[Upon landing, Wanda's eyes and hands were already glowing and pulsing with crimson energy. As she stepped off the shuttle, she turned her attention to the nearest alien bug, and attempted to fling it into its nearby friends. Howevever, she was rather shocked to find some resistance from the creature. It was like her target had suddenly become hazy and hard to focus on quickly. With some extra effort, she was able to lift the bug into the air and throw across the room. Smashing it against a far wall. Yet, the surprise extra effort was already causing her to feel more exhausted.]
[Not wanting to let the other fleet members, who were already risking their lives, down, Wanda charged forward. Using her telekinesis, she was able to pick up various scrap and debris lying around the ground, which she then sent flying at a number of closing in bugs. The various bits of metal ripped through a few of the aliens, and impaled a few more against the nearby wall. Some were still wiggling, attempting to free themselves from their wall pinning. However, they were quickly subdued by a second wave of scrap.]
[This second strategy seemed more effective, but there was only so much extra ammo lying around for Wanda to throw. Thus, she had to resort to trying on directly targeting her attackers once more. Again, she found the creatures surprisingly hard to target effectively. It wasn't her, as she could obviously move inorganic matter just fine. Could these creatures have some level of psychic defense? Well, this only served to fuel Wanda's anger and determination. She let out a furious yell of effort as she picked up one of the skittering horde, held him in the air briefly, and then tore each of its limbs off, sending them flying around the room. She had hoped this grotesque display would somehow dissway the other bugs, but no such luck. And the extra effort needing to directly target the beasts was beginning to drain her.]
[Wanda was clearly beginning to lose steam and focus, but the bugs just seemed to keep coming. If she didn't receive some kind of assistance soon, she could find herself in serious danger.]
[B. Shortly after clearing the entryway]
[After the initial wave of creatures has been dealt with, Wanda can be found sitting on a nearby container. She clearly looks worn out, and also frustrated with herself. She'll be staring at her hands, trying to discern what exactly had been made those bugs so hard for her to fight with her powers. She'd come to rely on them so much, but here... it didn't seem like they would be of much use. And that was clearly causing Wanda to doubt her own usefulness.]
[She could use a bit of a pep-talk, and maybe also some direction on how she can continue to aid her fellow fleet members.]

This ship doesn't look at all like ours do. It looks more like a woodlouse than anything. So I don't think these bugs are an infestation. But maybe they're like ants, and there's meant to be someone in charge only they've lost that person? Or...that bug. And that's what the things shooting out of the ship are about, looking for a new queen.
(no subject)

just when Lloyd thought he wouldn't be getting any action. he could hear the scurrying even before they properly entered the ship, and already had his swords out by the time the first batch of bugs pounced. he slices them down easily, moving hard and fast before any of them could get their claws on him for long.
it's a little strange, though. with his normal attacks he can slice them down easy, but with artes (particularly anything in the Demon Fang branch) he's having some difficulty landing the attacks. it's like the attacks are bouncing off and not doing any damage at all.
a bit of a hindrance, but it's not something that'll get Lloyd down, no sir. he is perfectly a-okay with brute force. ]
B;
he's particularly keeping an eye out for anyone that seems to be in trouble, whether or not they're from the fleet, so if your character is in trouble then he'll be swooping into the rescue, regardless of your relationship to him. ]

all sorts of passengers may find this area interesting, but those with engineering or pilot augments will find this area especially useful--whether they're interested in assessing and repairing damage to the ship, or looting the wreckage for useful scrap.

CONSOLE AREA | it's a mess, but this is where the brain of the ship can be found
protection is definitely needed in this area, so that communication officers, engineers, and anyone else who wants to help can do their work. there is a lot that can be worked on here--makeshift power sources can be routed from the docked ships, wrecked electronics can be repaired, and many encrypted files and layers of firewalls can be slowly cracked.

AND BEYOND! | for anyone brave or stupid enough to venture further
whether you're here to explore, fight, collect specimens, or attempt to communicate with the strangely-behaving creatures... be careful. the violent bugs attack from the darkness without a sound, and their numbers continue to increase farther into the ship. the working bugs won't harm you until you get in their way, but all bets are off when you do.
remember to be nice to your medics on the way out.]

[though Tek is following very vaguely in the wake of other teams venturing into the ship, he is primarily traveling on his own. he's got a flashlight, though he hardly uses it. maybe he can see just fine by the tiny glow from whatever auxiliary systems are still online, or maybe he likes just wandering along in the dark like a creep.
either way, he'll be lucky if he isn't mistaken for bugs shuffling around in the shadows.]
→ B
[and while we're on the subject of bugs, Tek has been terribly curious about them, but hasn't gone out of his way to investigate them very closely. he's kept his distance where he can, preferring to follow behind other groups that are helpfully clearing the way for him.
it's isn't until he steps over the very obliterated corpse of one unfortunate creature, that he finally stoops down to get a closer look.
making sure not to get any of that staining blue blood on his nice clothes, he picks up a broken segment of bug leg, shines his flashlight on it, brings it to his face to take a good sniff of it... and maybe sneaks a little bite.]

To give her time to cast a spell, she ensures there's a good amount of distance between her and the herd before she stops running. Ever since arriving on the fleet, she refrained from casting many spells. But this is a dire situation here. ]
Unleash clouds of darkness... [ Swirls of purplish light circle around her for a few seconds as she murmurs incantation. ] Negative Gate!
[ A black pool of dark energy opens up beneath the bugs, keeping the herd stuck in place. Multitudes of shadowy arms burst out of the void and appearing to graze and burn the creatures.
When the spell disappears, leaving the corridor back to the way it was previously, the bugs only appear briefly stunned and slightly singed by the spell. It wasn't very effective... ]
