[ She raises an eyebrow, pulling out another knife. Because that one he walked around is now coming towards them!

She is just ninja enough to have a conversation while fighting at the same time. ]

What? That's not a real thing.

[ She's even looking at him dubiously as she flicks the knife at one of its joints, making it fall to the ground ]

Yeah it is! They see like a billion more colors than we do because their eyes are super complex, too. They kill their prey by blasting it apart with movement so fast it makes the water boil. People stopped keeping them in aquariums because they could break the glass.

[ She squints at the bug squirming around on the ground ... ]

Pretty sure these aren't quite on that level.

[ She frowns, looking back at him ]

Besides, they would have to be in water, right?

Water has resistance. On land, I bet they'd be terrifying.

But you're right, these are just bugs. Not really the same thing...

[ She shrugs ]

I can think of scarier.

[ But she'll be nodding as a gesture for him to follow her ]

Nothing but bugs, so far. Hopefully the control room isn't too far -- that should have plenty of stuff to look at.

[ Or take. You know. If you're that kind of person. She'll be walking past the bug that's still struggling on the ground there and watching to make sure it doesn't try to jump out or swipe at Hiro ]

What do you think happened? How'd the bugs even get here?

I don't know. I don't sense anything else but these stupid things, and even then, they've got some kind of weird ... I dunno, aura about them. Makes it hard to detect them in the first place.

[ She pulls out another knife, twirling it absentmindedly as she walks cautiously into the hall ]

I hate to say it, but we may have gotten here too late.

[that makes him pause, like he hadn't thought about it.

[ She's about to respond to that, but she seems to hear something -- stops, and protectively holds out an arm to stop him too.

... She looks up, and there's definitely something moving around up in the ceiling ... ]

[oh... shit, i've played a video game where this happened once.

[he's got that staff ready, and she'll notice his stance is... actually impressively accurate for swordfighting. his eyes are trained as directly on the source of the sound as they can be.]

[ Aww. She so proud. The corner of her mouth turns up in a bit of a smirk when she sees that, before she turns her attention back to the ceiling.

She carefully starts to step to the side, hoping to pass through unnoticed, but then one drops down from the ceiling. ... And another. .... Aaaand another ...

She's swearing under her breath now ]
