A cry for help
[a distress call has been tracked across the void, finally leading back to the source. a hulking crippled ship, teeming with hostile alien life, now lies before you.
what do you do? do you dive in or hang back? are you here to learn, play, build, or observe?
however you choose to proceed, your audience is out there somewhere, watching.]
ooc: here is a good ol' themed mingle to get you all started! and don't feel limited by the prompts and what they describe--they're just there as idea-starters, so feel free to go anywhere and do anything.
have fun!

Or WOULD he? Comics timelines, man.He was just passing through, but he takes a moment to join in, because why not? He's got violence to do, he's got an automatic weapon, and while this doesn't make up for losing some of his people, it does make him feel better than he has in the past week. And at least his singing's not awful. ]

That wasn't none too bad, drunk kid.

[ If they're naming each other by what they were doing the night they met...
Though this time, the grin stays purely friendly. He's not looking for that kind of distraction at the moment. ]
Did I ever thank you for the punch and the ride back to the Paisley?
no subject
You did not, and it was a pretty good punch, too.
no subject
[ He means it, too -- just because Ray's not a martial artist on Batman's, it doesn't mean he can't throw a hell of a punch. And sometimes one good punch is all it takes. ]
So thanks. It wasn't the way I was hoping my night would end, but it was... decent of you. Consider me pleasantly surprised.

Not so maudlin anymore, I guess?

[ He sits on the floor, watching Ray work with some interest. No one seems to need him out in the bug-filled parts of the ship for the moment, and he's good with sitting and talking for a few minutes. ]
I've got brand new things to be maudlin about, lucky me. But at least this [ he waves his hand in a gesture that takes in the whole ship and the bugs inhabiting it ] is something to do.
Don't worry, you're not going to find me drunk and picking fights with random strangers for... probably another ten months.
no subject
[He does-- his arms disappear into the box almost up to his elbows, and he bites his lip in concentration]
So what're you maudlin about this time?
no subject
[ He grins back and takes the pliers, but Ray's next question has him examining the ground for a moment. ]
There were a few people from home here. Two of them aren't anymore. And granted, I legitimately hated one of them, but as much as we don't get along, I knew I could trust him. And the other one...
[ He swallows, reminds himself that crying on an alien ship where anyone might walk by is all kinds of stupid. ]
...Pretty much the little sister I didn't know I had. Not a blood relative, but no one I think of as family anymore is.
[ It's a very short list, the people he thinks of as family. He keeps telling himself Bruce Wayne isn't on it. This is, of course, a lie: if Bruce wasn't on that list, the rejection wouldn't hurt as much as it does... but there are some lies you have to keep believing in order to stay (relatively) sane. ]

I'm sorry they left. They go back to a good place, at least?
no subject
[ There's a certain dark humor in his voice that conceals real worry. ]
I mean, going home is the reward for getting the best ratings at the end of our little trip, right? It's the carrot that they're dangling to get us to play along, and the augment is the stick that keeps us from running... So where do people go if they leave before then?
no subject
Jesus Christ, Jason, way to bring the mood down. I thought they'd just go home, for fuck's sake.
no subject
[ He's used to sadistic little games like this, but never on this scale. Just letting someone go isn't how these things tend to play out. ]
...Someone mentioned that there are other places like this, where the people in charge kidnap people for whatever bullshit reason. My best case scenario is that they steal from each other as well as from our home universes, and they're fine, just... somewhere else.
As far as worst case scenarios, I couldn't limit myself to just one.
[ He pauses, and when he continues, his voice is a little too casual. ]
Funny, though, how there's this great big ship we only get to see a teeny tiny part of, wouldn't you say? They could have anything in there.
no subject
He chooses not to reply to this just yet, because it's really really depressing.]
What d'you mean, 'get'? I choose not to go into the bowels of this thing, because it's full of disgusting bugs.
no subject
[ He's not sure if the possibility of the missing Fleet members being on the Marsiva is reassuring or terrifying, but he's leaning towards the latter.
Just blowing a hole in it could kill the people he'd be most interested in saving, if they're there. But if a safe way to breach the hull can be found, he's more than willing to mount an expedition. ]
