A cry for help

[a distress call has been tracked across the void, finally leading back to the source. a hulking crippled ship, teeming with hostile alien life, now lies before you.

what do you do? do you dive in or hang back? are you here to learn, play, build, or observe?

however you choose to proceed, your audience is out there somewhere, watching.]

ooc: here is a good ol' themed mingle to get you all started! and don't feel limited by the prompts and what they describe--they're just there as idea-starters, so feel free to go anywhere and do anything.

have fun!

...That's the question, isn't it?

[ There's a certain dark humor in his voice that conceals real worry. ]

I mean, going home is the reward for getting the best ratings at the end of our little trip, right? It's the carrot that they're dangling to get us to play along, and the augment is the stick that keeps us from running... So where do people go if they leave before then?

[He gives Jason a stare for a few seconds.]

Jesus Christ, Jason, way to bring the mood down. I thought they'd just go home, for fuck's sake.

Sorry. I'm allergic to false hope. I mean, it would be great if they did go home, but it doesn't make sense according to the rules of the show.

[ He's used to sadistic little games like this, but never on this scale. Just letting someone go isn't how these things tend to play out. ]

...Someone mentioned that there are other places like this, where the people in charge kidnap people for whatever bullshit reason. My best case scenario is that they steal from each other as well as from our home universes, and they're fine, just... somewhere else.

As far as worst case scenarios, I couldn't limit myself to just one.

[ He pauses, and when he continues, his voice is a little too casual. ]

Funny, though, how there's this great big ship we only get to see a teeny tiny part of, wouldn't you say? They could have anything in there.

[He seems to contemplate that, solemnly- Vanyel had mentioned that, being from some other place like this. Shit, what if he never got to go back to Fraser? What if he's just gonna be bounced from one place to the other, until he's an old man?

He chooses not to reply to this just yet, because it's really really depressing.]

What d'you mean, 'get'? I choose not to go into the bowels of this thing, because it's full of disgusting bugs.

I was thinking of the other great big ship. The one there's no way to board unless you wake up there.

[ He's not sure if the possibility of the missing Fleet members being on the Marsiva is reassuring or terrifying, but he's leaning towards the latter.

Just blowing a hole in it could kill the people he'd be most interested in saving, if they're there. But if a safe way to breach the hull can be found, he's more than willing to mount an expedition. ]

...Oh. Yeah. [He frowns again, rakes a hand through his hair to make it stand up again.] I tried taking some of the wall panels apart, but it was just bullshit in there.
