A cry for help
[a distress call has been tracked across the void, finally leading back to the source. a hulking crippled ship, teeming with hostile alien life, now lies before you.
what do you do? do you dive in or hang back? are you here to learn, play, build, or observe?
however you choose to proceed, your audience is out there somewhere, watching.]
ooc: here is a good ol' themed mingle to get you all started! and don't feel limited by the prompts and what they describe--they're just there as idea-starters, so feel free to go anywhere and do anything.
have fun!

[you'd never guess, what with how his skull painted on his face gives him kind of a perpetually grim expression, but he is having a wonderful time.
he's set himself up behind a rather sizable pile of junk in one of the hallways. he's positioned his rifle so that he can shoot through a gap in his defense, while still having a sizable sight-range. for at least an hour, he's been calmly and systematically shooting any bug that falls into his line of sight.
hasn't always been perfect, and his coat's got some tears and maybe a bloody patch near his shoulder to prove it, but hey. guy's gotta have a hobby. and his is technically foreign species extermination.]
► B
[OR, WELL, you can come help him punch bugs in the face.
because he is having trouble wrestling off this thing with like twelve arms and a bunch of pincers right the heck now, anyone want to help him out??]
B. Soooooo B
That sharp piece of metal twists, yanks, and the bug is pulled off sideways, with Syeira there, looking particularly gooey, putting a boot on its' carapace and yanking out her stabbing implement. She does not have one of those nifty space rifles with her. Oh well! Salvaged metal spears are just as good right? Right?
Shut up, the bug's dead. She even makes sure by stabbing it in the head so it stops that freaky twitching. Then she's turning around to offer Zhas a hand up.]
You okay?
no subject
so he nods, stoops back down, picks up the gun that'd skittered out of his hand--and immediately picks off a bug that probably would have left them alone. probably. who knows, with these things.]
You.
[it's meant to be a question. he's bad at questions.]

[Cuz she's not blue blooded. Get it? 8D No? Maybe someone been hanging out with Hawke too much. In any case, she seems chipper, maybe a little hyper. Clearly she's been killing plenty of bugs, and it's not just humanoids that the effect is limited to.]
I wish I had my swords though. Umber hulks are a pain. At least these don't seem to cause confusion.
no subject
but speaking of causing confusion, he turns to look at her... and tilts his head, the now-customary sign for "what the hell are you talking about?"]
no subject
[There are lots of hand gestures. She is very jazzed. Not quite high.]
They eat dogs! Can you believe that? Fucking monsters.
no subject
...still.] Only dogs.
no subject
Only when you want to keep them in line for long periods of time without killing more humans. It was a long running hostage situation. They couldn't let the hulks eat the nobility.
[There's clearly a story here. She may tell it even if Zhas doesn't ask. It's hard to judge.]
no subject
...and changes his mind. turns it into a very slow nod. he is at least not walking away from her yet. maybe he's interested? or, at the very least, morbidly curious?]
no subject
See, I was looking for work in this slum bar -it's owned by a friend now, because I freed him from slavery and he killed the former owner. Who was the slaver, just so you know- and this noble girl comes up to me asking for help. Nalia's a sweet thing, but obliviously classist.
Anyway, travelled halfway across the nation to her family keep and it's totally over run by trolls. They eat people too.
[She's starting to walk, because there's no bugs around here. They should walk and talk and find more bugs. (Maybe she's had enough, hmm?)]
And there's no bodies. The place has been held for weeks and there's no dead anywhere. So I clear out the place -when I say "I", I don't mean I was alone. I had some friends with me. They totally help.- and find out from a servant that they have umber hulks with them down in the dungeon. They've been feeding them dog to keep them from eating the nobles. Not that Nalia's aunt wouldn't have benefitted from having a nibble taken out of her. She was ungrateful snob. Bet they didn't eat her because they knew she'd be sour.
no subject
...is that the end of the story? he still looks confused.]
no subject
Point is, they eat pretty much anyone if they're hungry. So it's not like they're sweet fluffy kittens. This totally falls in line with your limit for me.
[Maybe don't sound so chipper about that, Sye? Maybe?]
C'mon, lets go punch bugs in the face!
[Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaassseeeee?
Yeah she's even giving him an appropriate "Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaassee" look, might even be reaching out to tug on his sleeve, the effect slightly ruined by being a little bloody but whatever. Hang out with her Zhas. This is a mutual hobby you both can enjoy.]
no subject
mind you, they were all vampires, so he'd just as soon punch them in the throat for looking at him. this, though? it's kind of... "charming" seems like the wrong word, but it's the only one he can come up with. in a vampire, it's disgusting. in a human, it's almost endearing.
or maybe it's just because it's Syeira. hard to say.
either way, her theatrics get an equally theatrical (for him) eyeroll as he shrugs away from her hand and gestures with his whole head. c'mon, weirdo. bugs are this way.]
no subject
Anyway, she is just pleased as punch (can punch be pleased? It's punch), because it's much healthier to kill things as a group activity then doing it by yourself. Especially if you're enjoying it. She may have a slightly anterior motive for wanting to tag along with him. Like having him keep an eye on her, just in case. She's high, not stupid, ok.]
no subject
so, as long as she isn't getting in the way, he'll be happy to have her along.]
B. So they can hate each other.
Nothing likes being moved from the inside, and bug attention gets focused on Jinx. She decides to squish its insides and stop all the wiggling.
Dude. This was awesome. Bug stilled and out of the way, she smirks at him.]
no subject
as soon as the bug is off of him, he's quick to skitter back, grab the gun that he'd dropped, and point it in her direction--only to shoot at an approaching bug several feet to the left. it goes down in two well-aimed shots, thankfully.
and leaves him time to look absolutely disgusted with whatever is that she's doing. and maybe reconsider shooting her. no one would know...]
no subject
Do it, asshole. She dares you. Double dares you. Double dog dares you.
The fact he shot a bug instead of her has no bearing on her glare. That's only pushed to the side when she needs to kill another bug.]
no subject
but unfortunately, killing space bugs does not put her on the evil spectrum. his instincts may say "yes", but his firmly-established set of morals say "no". so he just sets his jaw and tries to wipe some slime off of his coat. disgusting.
stupid... bugs. maybe one of them will eat her or something.]
no subject
Which might be why she's working so hard to be next to him or behind him while they murder the things.]
