A cry for help
[a distress call has been tracked across the void, finally leading back to the source. a hulking crippled ship, teeming with hostile alien life, now lies before you.
what do you do? do you dive in or hang back? are you here to learn, play, build, or observe?
however you choose to proceed, your audience is out there somewhere, watching.]
ooc: here is a good ol' themed mingle to get you all started! and don't feel limited by the prompts and what they describe--they're just there as idea-starters, so feel free to go anywhere and do anything.
have fun!

ANOMALIES!! ANTHROPODS!!
[But he doesn't say anything yet, since the one he just injured is coming back, pissed off. Or just violent maybe. It's hard to tell with these things. Either way, at least this time he's a bit more ready- and he'll take advantage of that gash- and stab his talons into it. Which wow, this is surprisingly hard to cut considering how sharp his usual claws are]
Seems like they have a hard head!
[....Allen this is probably not the time for your stupid jokes. But whatever, he'll be using his strength to cut through the thing's head to kill it- making it fall to the ground as his claws come out the top. Gross. ]

Before she can get too mired in guilt, however, she looks up to see four more of the insectoids coming towards them menacingly.]
Allen!
[Just as one leaps at her, she fires the pistol, causing the bug to drop down in mid-leap with a sickening thud when it lands. Despite her good aim, she's definitely going to need help with the others.]
no subject
[Oh well.]
[The next one closest to Beverly starts to leap in the air, but immediately white ribbons shoot out from Allen's hand - ensnaring its legs and pinchers. With a pull, it comes crashing to the ground and wide open to be shot. Once that ones on the ground? He doesn't hesitate to flip over the body of the one he slayed, kicking another one coming towards him hard enough in the face to knock it back into the last one- stunning both of them momentarily.]

I'll get these two. Check the corridor to see if there are any more.
no subject
On it.
[He runs over to check the corridor. Luckily, since these things seem to travel in packs of six, there doesn't seem to be more- but he's taking a moment to check because it sounds like there could more in the distance]
no subject
Are we clear?
no subject
For now, I'm sure there's more.
[Which is why he still has his claws out at the moment. He grimaces and nudges one of the carcasses with his foot.]
I don't suppose you know what these things are?

[Though if it's not exactly though, it's probably not them like she said...]
Can your tricorder scan anything about them?
no subject
[She takes out the tricorder and runs a scan over one of the dead creatures, frowning at what she's seeing.]
Hmm... this is very... odd.

[She looks up from the tricorder, looking very concerned and alarmed.]
I don't know that they're just animals, some sort of infestation. They could very well be sentient.
[Which... that's not good. That's not good at all. The guilt is definitely coming back.]
no subject
That's...very bad.
Is there any way we can find out for sure?
no subject
[Her shoulders sag. She should have done that. But they just came upon Allen and her so quickly.]
I can take one back to the lab, perform an autopsy. Perhaps that will tell us more.
no subject
That...would probably be best. I can help you get them to the ship.
no subject
[She kneels down by the closest body, which is more or less intact, and reaches out a tentative hand to flip the insectoid over to what she hopes is a more dignified position.]
If they're the ones who sent out the distress signal...
no subject
...If they were, then why would they not respond to hails and attack us...?
no subject
[Or, you know, been part of a crew that's acting strangely.]
The trouble is, we don't know what normal is for them, so it's difficult to tell if this is their usual behavior or not. I could be wrong- they could also be the reason for the distress signal. I just don't want to jump to any conclusions yet...
