A cry for help

[a distress call has been tracked across the void, finally leading back to the source. a hulking crippled ship, teeming with hostile alien life, now lies before you.

what do you do? do you dive in or hang back? are you here to learn, play, build, or observe?

however you choose to proceed, your audience is out there somewhere, watching.]

ooc: here is a good ol' themed mingle to get you all started! and don't feel limited by the prompts and what they describe--they're just there as idea-starters, so feel free to go anywhere and do anything.

have fun!

[He grins at the thought of that-- Chicago, going to see Brooklyn. He's a city kid through and through, and all this space has been a little too grand for him, lately.

He reaches in with his right arm, starts disconnecting wires inside of the piece of machinery.]

1999. You?

[personal profile] redactions 2015-06-23 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
2014.

[ Pensively said, as he watches Ray fiddle with the wiring. ]

Is there a company named Stark Industries around? Just wonderin' if we're from the same Earth.

[ He was going to ask about the Chitauri, but well. ]
poetontheinside: (that right?)

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-06-23 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, never heard of it. 's it big where you're from?
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 49.)

[personal profile] redactions 2015-06-23 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, real big. Fingers in every major pie, so to speak. Does all kinds a'work in clean energy.

[ Weapons, really. But Tony isn't about that anymore and Bucky respects it. ]

Seems like we ain't, but I think you'll still like Brooklyn. Can't be too different.
poetontheinside: (Heyyyyy sexy)

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-06-23 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
Guess it's not the same, then. [He shrugs-- he's gotten used to it by now, but it's still a little weird to think about.]

I guess not, right? You ever been to Chicago?
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 66.)

[personal profile] redactions 2015-06-23 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it ain't.

[ Would've been nice, but that's not how the world works. ]

Never had the time. Heard about it from some of the other fellas — sounds like any other place you grow up in.

[ The deep attachment, partnered with the unique sensation of being trapped there. ]
poetontheinside: (red ships blue ships)

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-06-23 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, [he mutters, moving back with a sigh.]

This thing's busted, man. Can't do nothing with that anymore.
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 49.)

[personal profile] redactions 2015-06-23 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He unfolds his arms, and listens for any approaching bugs for a moment, then, ]

Right. Move on t'the next room? I'll keep an eye out for ya if you want.
poetontheinside: (red ships blue ships)

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-06-24 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. [He draws out the word, stretches and gets up with a groan.]

I like it, this engineering shit, but it's murder on my back. I'm no spring chicken anymore, y'know?
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 02.)

[personal profile] redactions 2015-06-25 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
I hear ya.

[ He falls into step beside Ray. ]

Say, is this the first time the ships've all stopped at a place like this?
poetontheinside: (hawks rule!)

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-06-25 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
I ain't been here long to answer that, pal. Last place we went was a bunch of casinos, clubs, that kinda thing. Oh, and there was the waystation with the Virtual Reality Dome, which was pretty sweet, but I was only there a week or something before we left there.
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 21.)

[personal profile] redactions 2015-06-25 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He nods at the list of available places, and then gives Ray a sideways glance. ]

A Virtual Reality Dome? What did it do?

[ nerd alert ]
poetontheinside: (yer funny)

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-06-26 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
It, uh, you spoke into this thing and it could magic up pretty much anything you wanted. I made Chicago, and it even got my car just right.
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 66.)

[personal profile] redactions 2015-06-29 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Would've liked to see that.

[ He signals for Ray to stop, and warily scouts ahead to check the room is clear. ]

Nothing here. C'mon.
poetontheinside: (investigating)

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-06-30 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
[He follows, suddenly missing his weapon something fierce.]

I'm usually the guy that goes into the scary dark rooms to scout for danger. 's kinda weird, being the follower.

[ Bucky chuckles. ]

I'd be fine lettin' you go first if you were armed, pal, but you ain't.
poetontheinside: (look at me I'm serious)

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-06-30 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
I gotta see about changin' that. I got a license and everything, I should be able to defend myself against all this space shit.
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 05.)

[personal profile] redactions 2015-06-30 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Your ship got weapons? Is that different depending on where you are?
poetontheinside: (walking along the streets of chicago)

i'm so sorry for being a shitty tagger this past week as;dflk

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-07-02 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think we got some now- new chick on board, she's security, so we got a bunch of new stuff. But I figured I'd wait a couple days before I started begging for a gun. [He flashes Bucky a grin, follows him further into the room.]

You got the security augment, or did you just pick that up somewhere?
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 30.)

not at all! backtags are where I live

[personal profile] redactions 2015-07-02 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
Didn't you think of, y'know, askin' nicely?

[ He returns the smirk, though it fades as he peers around, alert for more bugs. ]

Picked it up. I'm an engineer, dunno whose bright idea that was.
poetontheinside: (that right?)

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-07-02 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, hey. [He grins, flashes Bucky some fingerguns like the idea just occurred to him and he's really grateful for the suggestion.]

Yeah? Don't suit you, huh?
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 07.)

[personal profile] redactions 2015-07-03 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
[ He makes a bit of a face. ]

I was real good at tinkerin' before I signed up, but it wasn't a job. These days I feel like security might've been better.
poetontheinside: (fingerbite)

[personal profile] poetontheinside 2015-07-03 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
's kinda weird they can't change it, right? Just get into the database... [He mimes typing, shrugs a little. Like he knows how this shit works?]
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 30.)

[personal profile] redactions 2015-07-03 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Real weird. Maybe they choose at random who gets stuck with what and we gotta live with it.

[ He gestures to where the augment is, on him. ]

No use complaining about it now. You can work; I'll keep watch.
