[As in her first broadcast, Mal can be found tinkering around in the engine room, elbows-deep in something interesting and greasy. This time, though, she seems pensive, deep in thought, perhaps about Deep Subjects and Philosophies.]

[She is, in fact, thinking about something entirely different.]

[When she speaks, it's in tones of airy contemplation, meant to disguise the fact that part of her thinks this is a terrible idea.]

Here is an interesting thing: vampires, for all their reputation for seduction, really aren't that good at it, at least where I come from. When you're always hungry, you mostly rely on people leaving windows open at the right time and then being a bit woozy from blood loss. For the really old ones, the ones who can barely stand without crumbling to dust and really hate sunshine, that's the only way they can eat, and if they tried to seduce anyone their arm would probably fall off.

[She twists at a mysterious innard of the ship with a wrench, tongue in her cheek.]

We've had enough excitement for a while, I think, so why not something boring instead: tell me about romance in your world. Describe the sorts of flowers you like to kill for love. Rate yourself on a scale of one to ten, complete dunce to Casanunda, if you like.

Actually, everyone should have to do that. That's compulsory. I will genteelly admit that I am a nine. [Liar.]

[She can see the relief in Mal's body language, and feels a little bad that she didn't lead with something like that.]

[But she's smirking now, a little.]

It's a bit of a relief that you actually know what I'm talking about. Most people so far seem to think I'm lying.

Hey, I'm a wizard. There's a secret lair in my family's meat locker, and our car's a flying carpet. I'll believe in just about anything.

[deshabille]

Well, that's the best place to keep a secret lair.

I thought women were witches?

[delincuente]

Common misconception. "Witch" just makes people think of cauldrons and warts and crap, and we don't do any of that creepy stuff. So we dropped it awhile back. Don't wanna give anyone the wrong idea.

I've never actually met either, but I know if you don't have a healthy respect for witches you're a damned idiot.

[delincuente]

It's been said before.

[About the "damned idiot" part.]

And hey - I totally respect the ones I've met. Just in my world, we don't really have them. It's an old stereotype that people dress up as for Halloween.

You have wizards instead. What's the difference?

[delincuente]

[She's not really thought about this before, so she has to pause for a few moments.]

I guess... well, there's Wiccans, and they call themselves witches sometimes. And they make magic, like with candles and herbs and stuff. Anyone can do it, with the right tools. But wizards control magic that already exists, and you have to be born with it. We, like... channel it.

[deshabille]

Is it very powerful?

[delincuente]

Well, I once accidentally changed the past so that my parents had never met?

[She laughs awkwardly and scratches the back of her neck.]

Reality unraveled, all that jazz. It was a good time.

I don't know, I guess? I was still in training before I got... well, before I left.

[deshabille]

[No, wait, hold up there.]

[delincuente]

[She shrugs.] This isn't the first place to kidnap me.

[But there's sympathy in her tone. Just a little bit.]

Yeah, it's been a fun few years.

[She gives a big sarcastic grin.]

Well, fortunately for you, you're here now, so that your life can be vastly improved by my presence.

I could say the same about yours.

[No one ever said she was modest.]

[Alex actually laughs at that one.]

It's entirely possible. Although two egos this size in such a small space might be dangerous.
