[hey look, it's a teen girl's face and she is frowning as she stares at an array of pots and pans in the kitchen of the paisley. she may have a cooking augment but some of this stuff still perplexes her greatly.]

Hmm ... so can anyone tell me, what's the difference between broiling and grilling again?

[she rubs at her temple because sheesh this stuff is giving her a headache. then, a thought occurs to her.]

Oh! I guess I forgot to introduce myself when I got here. [she laughs, sheepish, then smiles, wide and genuine. look how friendly this girl is.] I'm Chie Satonaka! Nice to meet you, everyone! [and she waves.]

Uhhh, what are you doing in a kitchen?

[ He looks absolutely horrified. ]

[she rolls her eyes.]

Cooking dinner. [DUH.] What does it look like I'm doing?

[ That is exACTLY WHAT HE WAS AFRAID OF and his eyes go even wider. ]

What do you mean, cooking dinner? Why are you cooking at all?!

[Chie you are so cute. Nunnally can't help but smile at this message, and waves back] Hello Chie, I'm Nunnally.

And, ah... I'm not a very good cook. But, I think you grill something by putting it directly on heated metal racks.

[and she actually isn't sure what broiling is so she'll see if she can get away with not sounding ignorant by just not... saying anything]

It's my job. [her teeth might be clenched a little. come on, yosuke, don't go where she is pretty sure you are going. the curry incident was just as much yukiko's fault as hers.] It's fine. Really!

[Adachi had kept his head down when Chie first arrived. He hadn't been sure whether or not to alert her to his presence. However, given the sudden influx of these idiots, Adachi knew it was pointless to try and hide. Might as well say hi instead. After all, it wasn't fair to greet the other two and leave the third out of the loop. It was more funny when they were all "working" together anyways. Adachi only hoped that her reaction would be as priceless as Yu-kun's and that Junes kid's.]

My, my... don't you know how rude it is to ignore a familiar face. Here I was waiting politely for you to say hi, but I guess you high school brats really are lacking in manners.

[offscreen, chie slams a spoon down on the counter. she recognizes that voice, and the "brats" is a dead giveaway that adachi isn't pretending to be some affable small-town cop here. dammit. this is not good. she takes a deep breath, picks up and replies to his video message, scowling, mirroring the filter as best she can figure out.]

What are you doing out of your jail cell, Adachi?

[then she sighs.] I'm not the best cook either, but it's my job here, so I'm gonna try to do my best! After all, practice makes perfect, right?

[Alex pauses in the kitchen doorway, slouching against it as she watches Chie try to work.]

Well, grilling is when you put it over actual fire, and broiling... has something to do with London? I think?

No, it's not fine! That's the worst job! Can't you get another job?!

[ He is SO CONCERNED FOR YOUR SHIP RIGHT NOW ]

[Adachi chuckles sinisterly, holding a hand to his forehead. Her reaction was great. Each of the three brats all had the most entertaining looks on their faces at just the sound of his voice. Was he really so scary to them? If so, then that made things all the more fun.]

Jeez, you make it seem like I meant to wind up out here in the middle of space.

[He holds his hands up in mock surrender.]

You caught me officers. I can't believe you saw through my brilliant interstellar escape plan.

[Adachi then busts out in laughter.]

Pfft, what a joke...

[Even if he technically doesn't need human food to survive, a guy's gotta eat at some point - so Stefan wanders in, stopping only when he notices the confused look on her face.]

What're you trying to make? I think I can help. [Even if he still doesn't quite know what all of these protein-things are, but hey, it's like one big science experiment.]

Exactly. And if your ship has a kitchen, then you must have someone with the cooking augment! Perhaps they could help you?

[Bobbin sounds thoughtful, even if this is meant to be a joke.] Two letters, I think. Hi. [He waves. He can't keep the amusement out of his voice anymore. When he says his name, he sounds on the edge of laughter, even if his name isn't even meant to be part of the joke.] Bobbin Threadbare.

Broiling is cooking from above, grilling is cooking from below. At least, I think it is.

[ New cook, meet the old cook. Jason's passing by the kitchen in time to hear the question, and he can't help but poke his head inside. ]

With broiling you've got a dry heat source above your food, from the top of the oven... which we don't have yet... and something to catch the juices. With grilling, it's the other way around: you heat source is below your food, and if you're using the traditional metal grate, juices just go into your fire or whatever. They're both all about the high heat, and only cook one side at a time, so in most cases, you're gonna want to flip your food over to get both sides.

[ wry grin ] ...We don't have a grill, either. Sorry. I'm saving up for kitchen upgrades.

You can't just pick a job, Yosuke! Remember? [she points to the back of her head, the point where her implant is located.]

[chie glances up from studying the array of pots and pans in front of her.]

London ... that's a city, right?

Oh ... ahaha, that's me, actually. I'm the cook.

Well ... I thought maybe I'd try making grilled steak, but we don't have steak, and ... I don't think we have a grill, either. [nothing she's uncovered so far looks like what they use at junes, anyway.]

So I guess I'm open to suggestions.

[Stefan glances at them, before turning back towards their pantry. If she wants to make genuine food, rather than warm up the protein-gel things that he'd been eating... there's not exactly a ton of choices.]

I don't think we do, either. Hm, we could try something vegetarian. Treat the protein-gel-things as tofu, and stir-fry it with some of these dried vegetables?

[He reaches for his blood pills - not that it's labeled as such. Since he doesn't require real food to live, he hasn't exactly tested his suggestion out, but it couldn't hurt.] Sorry that we couldn't have steak tonight, but we might be able to buy some later. Jason said we could upgrade the ship, based on our ratings.

[Adachi cocks an eyebrow, before sighing in mock exasperation. He holds his forehead and shakes his head. His tone is pure condescension.]

Jeez, you really think that I'd be able to get away with anything like that here? We're kind of in relatively confined spaces here. Not to mention the fact that apparently everything we do is being filmed. How stupid do you think I am?

Exactly. [He returns the smile as he grabs some water and goes ahead and takes his pills.]

Well, what else do you know really well? We could go from there, instead of trying what I suggested.

[Since he's not eating a lot of it, he's totally open to suggestions too. Just in case, though, he also grabs water and goes ahead and swallows his pills.]

[Adachi just sighs and rolls his eyes.]

Whatever. Clearly, whatever I'm saying is just going to go in one ear and out the other. I'm surprised you think you can talk so big without your ability to summon your Persona.

Yep! Sure am. Though I'm from Japan - Inaba. [a little roll of her eyes.] Not a big city. I think we had some questions about England on a history exam a while back.

[translation: she has not cooked much of anything. at all. neither of those turned out well.]

[Alex gives a little hum of acknowledgement, picking up an empty pan like it's an unfamiliar artifact.]

Huh. Don't think we could make those. [Omelets would've been really easy too, had they access to real eggs.] Now that I think about it, we don't really have "firm" protein-things either.

Right. Stir-fry it is. How hard can it be, right? [and she laughs, again a little nervously, as she sets to work sorting through the cooking implements she's laid out.] I think ... a wok would be best to use?

Yeah. It's pretty cool. Something like six million people live there, and every single person's different. The whole place never goes to sleep. And the food's totally amazing.

[She's gonna start rhapsodizing any second now. She's in love with the place, and misses it so much.]

Not that hard, I promise. I've done it dozens of times.

[He nods, pointing the wok out specifically as he gets closer to her. Now that he's looking at the dried vegetables, though, he's starting to re-think the whole "stir-fry" idea. Soup would be a whole lot easier with those.] We should probably re-hydrate these too. Lemme go see if there's a bowl we can use.

[Adachi's face loses any display of feigned amusement. He's dead serious now, and his tone is level but threatening. He takes his teime with each word, making sure it all sinks in.]

Whatever you say. Now listen, very carefully, because I want to be very clear about something. If you say anything to anyone in this fleet about back home, the murders, or who I am... I will make things very unpleasant for you, that Yosuke punk and Yu-kun. Feel free to let them know that as well. Oh, and don't think for a second that I won't find out if any of you tell someone off the network. I'm very good at finding out what I want to know.

[A slight venomous grin finds its way back onto his face.]

I was a detective after all.
