[hey look, it's a teen girl's face and she is frowning as she stares at an array of pots and pans in the kitchen of the paisley. she may have a cooking augment but some of this stuff still perplexes her greatly.]

Hmm ... so can anyone tell me, what's the difference between broiling and grilling again?

[she rubs at her temple because sheesh this stuff is giving her a headache. then, a thought occurs to her.]

Oh! I guess I forgot to introduce myself when I got here. [she laughs, sheepish, then smiles, wide and genuine. look how friendly this girl is.] I'm Chie Satonaka! Nice to meet you, everyone! [and she waves.]

Well ... I thought maybe I'd try making grilled steak, but we don't have steak, and ... I don't think we have a grill, either. [nothing she's uncovered so far looks like what they use at junes, anyway.]

So I guess I'm open to suggestions.

[Stefan glances at them, before turning back towards their pantry. If she wants to make genuine food, rather than warm up the protein-gel things that he'd been eating... there's not exactly a ton of choices.]

I don't think we do, either. Hm, we could try something vegetarian. Treat the protein-gel-things as tofu, and stir-fry it with some of these dried vegetables?

[He reaches for his blood pills - not that it's labeled as such. Since he doesn't require real food to live, he hasn't exactly tested his suggestion out, but it couldn't hurt.] Sorry that we couldn't have steak tonight, but we might be able to buy some later. Jason said we could upgrade the ship, based on our ratings.

Oh, it's OK! I know stuff's different out here. Just gotta do my best with what I've got, right? [she smiles, and sets to work clearing some of the pans she'd laid out from the counters.] I just thought it might be easy to start with something I know really well.

Exactly. [He returns the smile as he grabs some water and goes ahead and takes his pills.]

Well, what else do you know really well? We could go from there, instead of trying what I suggested.

[Since he's not eating a lot of it, he's totally open to suggestions too. Just in case, though, he also grabs water and goes ahead and swallows his pills.]

Um ... [she laugh, nervously, rubbing at her temple.] Well, I made curry once, with Yukiko. Oh, and an omelet, for Nanako-chan!

[translation: she has not cooked much of anything. at all. neither of those turned out well.]

[How does someone know how to make grilled steak and not much else? Actually, Stefan doesn't want to know the answer.]

Huh. Don't think we could make those. [Omelets would've been really easy too, had they access to real eggs.] Now that I think about it, we don't really have "firm" protein-things either.

[Guess they'll have to go with his suggestion, lest one of them thinks of anything better...]

Right. Stir-fry it is. How hard can it be, right? [and she laughs, again a little nervously, as she sets to work sorting through the cooking implements she's laid out.] I think ... a wok would be best to use?

Not that hard, I promise. I've done it dozens of times.

[He nods, pointing the wok out specifically as he gets closer to her. Now that he's looking at the dried vegetables, though, he's starting to re-think the whole "stir-fry" idea. Soup would be a whole lot easier with those.] We should probably re-hydrate these too. Lemme go see if there's a bowl we can use.
