006 - Rip Van Sokka

[Sokka has finally awoken from cryosleep. He looks a little older (which, of course, he is, he's a whole 19 years now) and his hair is in disarray, but awake he is. His communicator catches him sitting upright, blinking confusedly around him as he tries to sort through three years worth of memories and try to work out where the hell he is.

After a few moments, the pieces fall into place, and he lets out a low groan, flopping back on his bed.]

Ugh. I thought I was done with this place.

[Then, he gets up, reluctantly, ties his hair back up in a pony tail, and heads up the hatch and out into the Blue Fish himself. It's like going back to a dream. Or maybe a nightmare. The familiarity is fuzzy and off, but it's slowly creeping back to him. ]

I don't know. I don't think so. I mean... I've aged since I've been home.

...Okay, then I don't know what to think. Is this some of that time-space alteration Dr. Crusher was telling me about?

Maybe? Most of that stuff is lost on me, but I'm trying to learn.

Yeah, me too. Not space, but time travel, jumping through a universe in a day--that's all new.

Up until I came here, I never even thought space travel was possible. But here I am, and my brain makes sense of it all. It's weird..

The whole implant thing? Yeah, that thing is creepy. It must feel even more bizarre if everything in it is new.

I guess it could be worse.

Don't know how yet, but if I know Atroma, they'd find a way.

They could have just tossed us out here without any kind of knowledge and told us to wing it.

Shhhhh, don't give them ideas. They've used the augments to mess with our heads before. They can probably take away everything we know about space as easily as they put it in here.

Wait, they what? I was just kidding around! [almost.] How often do they do that?

[okay, granted, messing with people's heads is her mom's specialty, but she doesn't do that for FUN.]

In the time I've been here? Two or three? I think.

[tobeajedi]

Ugh. So what kind of stuff happens--memory loss? Personality changes?

[...Getting turned to the dark side?]

Personality changes, I've seen. But I wouldn't be surprised if they messed with our memories, too. Last time it made me really hyperactive, with these bouts of just dropping right to sleep.

[tobeajedi]

Sounds like being drugged. [She rubs at the implant spot.] How long have you been here, then?

[alwayscomeback]

That's pretty much it, yeah. And I've been here about nine months, now. I think. It's still a little confusing, with the time back home, too.

[tobeajedi]

I bet.

So how old were you before?

[alwayscomeback]

Sixteen. Only just, too.
