[ Ino looks a little frazzled, but she's all business when she addresses the camera. ]

Hey everyone! An update on the research going on right now. Well, as far as I know, anyways. If anyone has any findings besides what I'm about to say, let me know, I'll add it to the list.

To make this short and sweet, we've figured out that these aliens are pretty damn intelligent -- near to or on par with humans. [ She holds up a hand, as if to shush the people watching ] Immortals and non-humans, please save your jokes about how dumb we are for the end, please and thank you.

Anyways, they're pretty smart, but they weren't really supposed to be all crazy and vicious. So we looked into it and it looks like they've been exposed to some sort of fungus that's severely damaged their nervous system. If you didn't know, that's linked to the brain, and so very much affects how they act and think. We're thinking that's shorted out their ability to think and reason properly. Hence the conflicting violent attitude compared to the distress signal they sent out before.

Soooo, if you haven't put two and two together -- until we figure out the deal with this mold, how to potentially cure the damage it's caused, so on and so forth -- I would not recommend going on the ship at all until we can determine for sure that it's not going to infect us, too. I know there's a lot of interesting things going on on the ship, but you don't know what that shit could do to you. [ A beat ] Seriously.

If you're going to be a stubborn idiot and go on the ship anyways, I'm going to be keeping an eye on the entrance and keep note of anyone who decides to go in, so you can be monitored in the future. You know, just in case this comes back to bite us later, which it probably will, because that's how these things work.

If you've been on the ship and you're worried about your own personal health, or have noticed any recent symptoms you think are off in some way, I'd be happy to check and see if your everything is in order! I'd also recommend drinking a lot of water the next few days to flush any toxins out of your body.

We haven't really had the extended exposure that they clearly did. Chances are we'll be fine as long as we don't keep going in there. But it doesn't hurt to take some precautions.

[So Toph just missed pretty much the entirety of that broadcast (she'll get to it later), but she stops in the kitchen entry way when she feels Ino sitting there, knowing she's not one of the crew.]

And briefly wonders if this girl is related to the Hyuugas in any way. The eyes look very similar ... ]

Thank you for the information, Captain Ino. My cells are bonded with metal and not subject to infection, so if it is necessary to go aboard the ship I would be willing to do so.

If it is a fungus-like organism, it should be entirely possible to develop a vaccine to prevent infection, both for us and for any others of the bug race we may encounter.

Yeah, we're trying to get that underway. I just figure until then we should probably limit exposure as much as possible.

[Allen doesn't really respond to the broadcast. It's all stuff he's already heard before. Instead, he goes to find Ino since she's still on his ship. When he gets there, he sets down a cup of tea in front her.]

Here. I thought you might want some tea.

[Okay sure, it's the stuff brewed from the Atroma- so hardly the most exquisite tea. But. Whatever. Anything to help relax a little, right?]

[ Hey, she's not Iroh. She is not connoisseur enough to care either way. She smiles up at him ]

Thank you for sharing this information. I do have one thing to add: according to someone else I've talked to, it seems that the fungus shouldn't be able to affect anybody with a different biology than their current hosts...so we should be safe, even if they aren't. Still, it's better to take cautions than not, and if there's any among us with insect-like biology we ought to pay special attention to how they're faring.

Oh, that's good to hear! I ... actually have no idea if anyone in the fleet is some kind of insect, but I guess if they are and they're affected they'll probably step forward saying they don't feel so good.

If you had brought back a few for dissection purposes, it's probably already contaminated. Of course, the density of the fungus - spores, perhaps? - should be greater within the confines of the ship, so I wouldn't recommend anybody going back for seconds.

Uh. Yeah, that's ... that's pretty much what I was saying.

No, I don't think so. I don't think it's toxic to us as it is to them. I would try to get it out of your system just in case, though.

[ For all they know, it could be some kind of super fungus that could evolve at any moment or whatever. But she won't say that and cause a panic ]

[Nightingale turns on the communicator to reply right away after hearing it, but it takes her a few moments to actually say anything, as she tries to digest all of that information.]

Okay... Sorry, I just got here, so I really don't know what's going on. But at least I got that people are getting hurt by something. I know a little bit of healing magic, so... Is it possible to help with that?

Oh -- I'm sorry! Basically, we got a distress signal from another ship, which was inhabited by a species of bug-like creatures. They attacked us when we tried to check out the ship to see if they still needed help, but it turns out their minds were just screwed up because they'd been infected by this fungus.

I'm not sure if there's anyone with injuries currently, but it would definitely be helpful to keep an eye out and advertise your skills!

[ Yeah, that's ... the extra not fun part about this. Of course, many of them would have died soon anyways, thanks to the damage from the fungi, but she won't make excuses. Solemnly: ]

But there isn't much we can do about that now, except to hopefully find a way to pass on the cure to their people, once it's done.

M-maybe she wouldn't notice her own crew member has been on the ship... and keeps going onto the ship to try to protect bugs from being killed? Surely she won't be interested in his health! Right?]

[Aang listened to the whole message from elsewhere in the ship, with a heavy heart. He had been worried with the way others had seemed alright with eliminating the bugs, and this made him sadder about the whole situation.

The monk peeks around the ship until he finds her, and he gives a meek wave, with a sad smile.]

Hi there. ...Captain Ino, right? I just want to say... Thank you for telling us all that information. I hope that everyone's careful now - I know I will be.
