let us bow our heads

[it may be too optimistic to hope that it has something to do with respect, but Atroma has been very quiet. in the wake of the growing stillness on the Iskaulit, neither of the fleet's hosts have broken the peace with their chipper voices.

if the passengers are being watched as closely as they always claim, it is being done in silence.

whether or not the remainder of the living bugs are being kept somewhere for observation, and regardless of the fact that the discussion of what to ultimately do with the ship is still ongoing, it has been generally agreed that something respectful should be done with the dead, and that the remaining spores should be washed away.

so, this will all be done through a combined effort of vacuum and fire, and the time for this purge has been set.

feet on the ground are needed to prepare the foreign ship for purging--securing anything that could be damaged, and safely packing away delicate data-storing instruments and anything belonging to the fleet itself. anyone willing to help could surely find something to do.

and for anyone wishing to bless, reflect, honor, or pray... now is the time to do so. whether aboard the Iskaulit itself before the purge, offering a voice over the network, or simply watching from nearby shuttles and ships, this is the fleet's moment to help send off the crew of the Iskaulit with dignity.]

ooc: this is the final IC mod post for June! the purge itself will be implied for the most part, but anyone with skills in mechanics or fire-controlling may assume they were involved.

this post specifically is for any interactive threads involved in the final days before the Iskaulit is cleaned, and anything funerary, including broadcasts. even if you just want to put up a closed comment describing what private way your character is taking part in this makeshift 'ceremony,' go for it.

an OOC post summarizing and officially wrapping up the rest of June will go up as soon as we're able.

They are scary. Do we want to talk about something else?

It might be best. If such a thing comes to pass, we will deal with it then.

[He hesitates. He has a question, if a strange one, perhaps.]

Your world is... very different from the one I know. You have many sapient races, which I confess is something my programming is not entirely equipped to deal with. Is there a people similar to these bugs? The possibility that these creatures were sapient did not occur to me.

[ He thinks on that, rubbing at his head. ]

I haven't seen anyone knowing of bugs.... I mean, there are the destroyer crabs and crablings, but those are obviously made of fire and rock. And they're not nice. [ As indicated by the destroyer name. Hmmm, hhmmm... ]

I can think of... frog-like Hylek, and rat-like Skritt. Round cute quaggans. And big bear... Kodan... Oh, and there's bird like... Tengu? Hmn. But no bugs...

You have sentient races representing mammalian, amphibian, botanical, and avian life, but not arthropods. Curious.

[He shakes his head.]

And yet the scientists of my own world dismiss non-human sentient life as impossible.]

[ He ruffles his hair at the big words. U h m... okay. He thinks he has that. ]

... Do big hard-shelled sea creatures count as ... Arthropods? Karka are all mean, though. And I don't think they look anything like these ones...

[ He frowns a little. ]

... That sounds boring.

Arthropods include insects, arachnids such as spiders and scorpions, and crustaceans such as crabs or lobsters. Are Karka sapient?

[Humanity isn't boring. Humanity is great. This is Daneel's entirely unbiased opinion.]

I suppose it must seem boring to you.

... I don't think so. They just came out of the deep water and wander around attacking people.

[ But if there are just humans, what do they do? There's no centaurs who attack them, or charr to try to chase out- ]

I think, if it was just norn or just charr, it might be boring too...

Is there much dispute or warring between the races in your world? I have seen enough of that among different classes of humans over their differences, which would likely seem insignificant to you.

The ones who pick fights most are humans and charr? But that is because a long time ago, humans wanted to live where the charr were living, and so they fought over the area a lot. [ Understatement, but then again, he did say 'a long time ago'. ]

and most of the centaurs aren't nice to anyone... There are nice ones! but they keep to themselves and are further away than the mean ones.

... And the asura weren't nice to Sylvari when we first woke up...
thezerothlaw: (oh!)

[personal profile] thezerothlaw 2015-07-26 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Then that is, unfortunately, similar to what I know. Different classes of human consider others to be "lesser." I cannot agree with that.

[Also an understatment.]

.... That sounds like saying "you are a blue sylvari, you are not as sylvari as me, a purple sylvari".

[ He makes a sort of really stuffy tone with that. Says what he thinks of it - it's pretty dumb sounding. ]

In the cases I'm familiar with, it generally has more to do with the planet particular humans are from, but yes, I agree. It's foolish.
innercactus: (Default)

[personal profile] innercactus 2015-07-31 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
... There is a lot of planets for humans?

[ Well, as far as they can tell, there is more than one place where humans live on Tyria. So far none of the other races are like that...

Maybe it isn't as weird sounding as he first thought.

In my time, humans have spread beyond their home world, Earth, and settled on other planets. On different worlds, different cultures arise.
