Who: Megaman and you!
Broadcast: Fleetwide!
Action: Moping at the desk in the engineer's office on the SS Golden, lights on as usual
When: RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW somewhere around the space equivalent of midnight
Hello, I'd like to ask a question for anyone still awake. Some of you have been here for a little while now, right? I was wondering...has anyone ever been able to contact people they know back home here? Has Atroma ever allowed it, I guess.
My friends back home are probably really worried about me by now...I don't think they would know what's going on. To them I might have suddenly become missing! And I'd like to let them know that I'm okay, if I can. But I don't know if there's a way...
And also, since [ah] maybe I'm going to be here for awhile too. Does anyone have a database about outer space that I could borrow for a bit? A book or a data file you'd be willing to lend? Just, something that gets detailed about how things work in general out there. I have basic knowledge on the subject, but I'd like to learn more of I can.
Thank you.

But, well. Megs said the S-word. Clay will get that answer somewhere down the line, he's sure; right now there is something VERY IMPORTANT to discuss.]
DID SOMEONE SAY SPACE???
no subject
But no honestly he almost appreciates this, if only because it's the last response he's actually expecting--and enough to get a smile out of him.]
YES I MIGHT HAVE MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT SPACE!
SHOULD I ASSUME THIS IS AN EXCITED ALL-CAPS AND NOT AN ANGRY ALL-CAPS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT?
no subject
EXCITED! VERY EXCIT
I KNOW ALL ABOUT SPACE OK I CAN TELL YOU EVERYTHING YOU WANT
no subject
DO YOU REALLY? THAT'S PRETTY NEAT! DID YOU WORK WITH SPACE A LOT BACK HOME?
no subject
no subject
AN ASTRONAUT, THOUGH! I'VE NEVER TALKED TO ONE DIRECTLY LIKE THIS BEFORE, THIS IS REALLY COOL! YOU GUYS ARE PRETTY AMAZING. I GUESS THIS MEANS YOU'D ALREADY BEEN FLYING AROUND IN SPACE EVEN BEFORE YOU GOT TAKEN HERE BY THE FLEET?
no subject
I actually didnt get to do that at home yet
I WAS ABOUT TO

Hey. Mind some company while you wait for replies?

No, the important thing is that he sits up immediately when Misha crops up, looking startled but then relaxing once he realizes who it is. Automatically a hand casts out to kind of...slap at a few papers in an attempt towards rendering them slightly less messy (this fails miserably)--but he smiles a bit, as she comes in.]
O-oh, hello Misha! And Alfred, good evening to you too... [Noting the presence on her bicep as well. He blinks a bit, at the question.] Ah, yeah, it's--fine, there's another chair in here somewhere. Um. ...Oh, you saw the post? [Well it is a Fleet-wide broadcast, in retrospect. He has the decency to look sheepish about this realization.]
no subject
[ The presence of another chair is welcome and she seeks it out before flipping it backwards and plopping down with a friendly air. ]
Yeah, I saw it. It's a good idea. We kind of take space for granted where I'm from, leave it to the astronauts and everyone, but considering where we are... You know, we should probably learn more.
no subject
Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking tonight...ah, it was kind of funny, really. I've been here in space for almost a month already and I've only just realized that I really don't know all that much. [He sighs.] I mean--something came from space to visit us once, back home? But he...wasn't very friendly, so we didn't really get any chances to ask him anything, you know...
no subject
[ She actually knows about this one personally. It worked out in the end (the first time), but the general consensus lends credence to them being a nuisance. ]
What kind of something was he?
no subject
Ah, yes. Duo.]
A really big something! A program, actually, an alien one...but he was huge. His torso was probably bigger than two of this ship put together, I think. [Seriously he never even got to see the guy's legs AND THAT'S JUST UNNECESSARY...Megaman gestures a bit helplessly.] He was manning a computer in a meteor, and he could steer it around where he wanted. Apparently his protocol was to drive it into any world that didn't fit an ideal criteria. So, you could guess how well that went...

We haven't met yet, but my name is Dr. Crusher. I've been here since March and from everything I've gathered, people at home have no idea we're even gone. Several of us have people from our own universes here who have arrived from a period time after our own capture who remember us being at home and living as we normally would, no mention of Atroma. Additionally, my captain, Sokka, recently returned home for three years and retained no memory of being here, but for us, it was only about a week that he was in stasis. I know it is only a small comfort, but in all liklihood your friends will be waiting for you just as you left them.
As to your other question, I normally live in space at home as well, so I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. And I do have a database from home, but unfortunately the files from my device are non transferable to the fleet's computers. I might be able to type something up for you, though.
Hope this helps!
no subject
Hello, Dr. Crusher! Thank you for taking the time to write this up, I'm still trying to wrap my head around some of the things around here. Correct me if I'm mistaken, then, but--in that case, there's probably differences in how time flows between here and back home? ...And no matter how long we're here, it won't seem that long at all to any friends where we left them? [Well, if there's multiple cases confirming it...hm.] This is actually pretty reassuring to hear! I just don't want them to be worried, but at least here it sounds like they won't be...
You normally live in space where you're from, though? That's pretty amazing! We haven't quite reached that level of technology where I'm from yet...at most we've been to the moon a couple of times, so far. A write-up would definitely be alright in the place of any kind of data transfer, though, if you'd be alright with taking questions! There might be a lot of them, I'm sorry in advance about that...
no subject
No need to apologize, I don't mind at all! Not everything from home will be applicable here of course, but I'll do what I can. You mention the moon. Are you from Earth then? If you're not, that's fine, it'll just help if I have a point of reference for you.
no subject
But yes, that's correct! I'm from Earth...you're familiar with it?
no subject
Yes, I'm from Earth as well... or at least, my people were originally. I was actually born on Luna, but I attended Starfleet Academy, which is a university of sorts, on Earth. Granted, I'm sure there are a lot of differences between our two versions of Earth. What year is it for you?
no subject
[Ah, 'versions' of Earth though, that's yet another concept he's still been trying to get used to. Alternate Earths...alternate universes! Dad would have a field day. But well, let's see here...]
I think there probably are a lot of differences, yes...I don't think I've heard of either of those places. But this is still a start! Let's see, right now it's the year 2010? I'm from Electopia, my Operator lives in ACDC Town...that's near Den City. Is any of that familiar either...? [

I don't think it's possible. I mean... I've found someone here from where I was before, but from home isn't going to happen. We've been dragged across worlds- Maybe if your home world had the ability to send messages across worlds or something? But odds are we're all shit out of luck in that regard.
Some talking horse told me that time's probably frozen back where you came from, though.
text;
Ah, Dr. Crusher has just told me that too, though! Although I don't think Dr. Crusher is a talking horse...but apparently time might flow differently between here and home? So at least they're not worrying.
[...Hm. But...]
It'd still be really nice to be able to talk to our friends at least a bit, though.
Re: text;
I don't know about that.
Rather than 'flowing differently', from what I've heard, it's more like we're just being put back at the same point they picked us up from.
So it's not that time is frozen, but rather, that we're just sort of operating outside of that time right now.
I don't think the Atroma would be that generous, though. (-_-)ゞ゛
They weren't exactly big on asking us permission before grabbing us.
I don't think they particularly care about how we feel. Honestly, our being homesick is probably good for them.
It'll bring them ratings.
Who's Dr. Crusher?
no subject
You're right, though, I don't think Atroma's really that generous too. Worth a shot, I guess... ( ̄^ ̄\)I'm still not sure what kind of show this even is. I thought it'd be more like a scifi movie, but if they want that much drama wouldn't it be more like a soap opera??
Actually I've just met Dr. Crusher! We're talking right now. But apparently they already lived in space before coming here, so they know a lot about it. They've been very helpful so far! Would you like me to tell you about anything else they know about space later, too?
no subject
Thanks, though.
I'm not sure about not aging normally... I'm not sure how that would work, for me.
As for the show, it's a reality show, from what I know.
I never watched those much at home- or at all, really- but it's mostly that they watch what we do and broadcast it.
But I think it also does things like record everything in advance, and then chop up the recorded footage to try to make some people into protagonists or villains.
... But, then, I've never seen a camera here outside of our communicators anyway, so I'm not sure I even buy into the show explanation. (◎_◎;)
no subject
A reality show? Oh, huh...Mom watches those a lot. [wait shit--] Mrs. Hikari, I mean! But they seemed kind of boring...maybe space reality shows are more entertaining somehow. [why is he even thinking about this] But when you put it that way that's really weird to think about...I've been on tv before, but not quite like that!
It's funny that you mention cameras, though, because I've been wondering about that too. There don't seem to be any on my ship, for sure...and I think I'd know if there were, since I'm the engineer! I don't know...
