[They're just trading off moments of quiet confusion and reflection, it seems like. After a pause, Jove grins too.]

[oh, gross. they're not supposed to both be smiling... he tries to shove down his own look by glancing to the side, turning a little to get a hand back on door handle.]

Listen, I'm not really interested in hearing what you think you are or aren't to Tek, but seriously--you're exactly the kind of thing he'll tighten around like a noose.

[She just really cannot get a handle on you, guy. Now that he's brought this to something much more serious with that whole murder analogy, she sits up a little straighter. That's either a warning or a threat and either way it's something to address.]

If I'm anything to Tek, it isn't much. I don't even know that you could call us friends, but as far as I'm aware we're beyond trying to kill each other.

[maybe someday, Jove will be up for days at a time, watching the dragon sleep, gutted with a deep fear that he's never going to wake up. she'd try to help, he's sure, try to "fix" things, only to watch him push her away and pitch the whole world against her with every step.

[funny thing about rooms warded against the permeation of radiating energy--it tends to muffle things coming into the room as well as going out of it.

so, Robin might be truly surprised for once, when the door is suddenly pulled out of his hand and opened.]

[Oh. Good. Now everything will go back to normal and not be awkward at all. She's still watching Robin, trying to parse the sudden flippant attitude, but she speaks to Tek.]

You've got a visitor, but I believe he was just leaving.

[yeah no just ignore Robin, who nearly jumped out of his skin before hissing a tight foreign curse between his teeth.]

J'yeb'c... [uuugh, he ducks quickly under Tek's arm, to try and leave.]

[practically without blinking--still looking at Jove, really--he takes a quick step back into the hall to hook Robin's elbow before he can get very far.]

[Is she awake enough for this? Probably not. Hell, she's still not even moved from the bed, the blankets are still pulled over her lap. So much for a nap.]

I rarely know anymore. I believe he's got the wrong idea about why I'm in the captain's bed, though, so we could always start there.

[he stops looking startled pretty fast, leaning back to that crutch of vaguely bitter cynicism.]

Are you kidding? Is there some other explanation besides, "I'm lonely, guilty, and Tek hasn't kicked me out yet?"

a moment passes, where the overwhelming levels of how unimpressed he is are just tangible in the air.

and then he slides a slow look over in Robin's direction.]

[How this situation turned into this, Jove will never know. All she does know is she hardly has the interest or will to have this kind of conversation on a good day, so she chooses to fluff her pillow and lay back. Might as well get comfortable.]

I was leaning more towards being tired and in a bed that's partly mine, but if you'd like to be spiteful about it I suppose we can be.

[he... knows it's coming. it's a mean jab right back at him, and he only gets madder that Tek's not agreeing with him--but he swallows the majority of his annoyance for the sake of appearing not-particularly-bothered.

he wants to comment on how everyone's apparently over that whole murder thing, but not right in front of Tek.]

Normally I'd say "the more the merrier," but I think I'm wearing out my welcome.

[he tugs on Tek's elbow, a little. he would like to go.]

[he's not disagreeing either. but it's not the sort of thing you just say with other people around, so--this was exactly the sort of consequence that Robin deserved, in Tek's mind.]
