[ Max is almost used to waking up in weird places. But when she awakens to the crisp, clean, sterile surroundings of the Marsiva's hospitality deck, she knows something is wrong. Her dorm room, Chloe's room, school maybe, the lighthouse... but this felt more like a hospital. Where...? ]

This isn't... where is this? [ She's quick enough to her feet, glancing around. ] Calm down, Max, just need to figure out... where......

[ She trails off when she catches sight of those bowing windows in the viewing bay, showing... space. ]

No way. No way... This can't be real.

[ She seems to be in denial for a few moments. Gaping, staring, taking a step back...

And then, hands shaking... she pulls out an old instant camera and snaps a picture. "Always take the shot." That's what she had been told.

She shakes the photo that pops out for a moment, then stares at it, as if the view would somehow be different. But alas, it is not. ] This is really happening, isn't it? I'm in space. How?

[ Assume she's open to messages here. During and following those, though, she'll be snooping around the deck, looking at and through anything and everything. Snoop, Max, snoop and figure things out. ]

If you think people with superpowers don't exist, you're in for a real shock here. Most people here have some kind of superhuman ability.

I admit, I've seen some pretty weird shit. I know that not everything can be explained with science.

But superpowers? That's a lot to take in. [ Okay, so Max can rewind time, but that's a one-off thing, okay? Plus she's gotta sound incredulous if she wants to throw off suspicion. ]

Good thing I let you know ahead of time then, huh?

I don't know... Maybe I can buy it. Like, maybe these aliens pick people who are "special" in some way? It would make for better ratings for sure.

But then you'd have to explain why they brought me here.

I'm sure you have some kind of talent or something about you that makes you interesting. But yeah, my boyfriend said the same thing when he got here, too. I don't know why, since he's incredibly smart and builds robots, but maybe it seems so normal to him that he doesn't think it's anything special.

That actually sounds really awesome. I wish I could build robots. Too bad I'm not very good at science stuff.

But I'm actually a pretty boring person. I mean, I'm still in high school. And a pretty typical, like, loser geek girl. [ Which, it crosses her mind, maybe she shouldn't vocalize? Since this girl looks like the really popular type.

But then again, she's apparently dating a nerd? So maybe she's cool. ]

Hey, me either. I mean, at least not like that. I've at least got my biology down.

[ she laughs ]

You can be in school and still be an interesting person. Don't be so hard on yourself!

Yeah, sure. Maybe if you build robots.

Isn't there anything you enjoy doing?

Oh, yeah. Absolutely. I'm a photographer. Or, uh, going to school for photography.

Don't get me wrong, I think photography is awesome. I don't know how awesome other people would find it, though. Let alone watching it on reality TV.

Well, I think that's pretty cool. I'm not really a photographer myself, but I do ... collect pictures, I guess is the best way to put it.

Wow, really? [ She's not used to people thinking it's cool. Except other photographers. And her BFF, but even that's more "It's cool you're following your dream."

Okay, Max, you can't accept compliments, we get it. Change the subject. ] Uhh, so what kind of photos do you collect?

Personal ones, I guess. One second ...

[ She'll lift up the communicator and head down the hall of the ship, opening the door to her room ... and then she'll turn the camera towards the wall above her bed, which is completely plastered in pictures ]

[ Max is pretty used to sights like that - she has a wall just like that in her dorm, and she knows Victoria does too. It's a photographer thing. Still, a lot of photos for somebody without an active interest. ]

Oh hey, nice. Your camera must get a lot of use, huh?

I try not to use it too much. Not a lot of film to go around here. This has just been building over a few years, I guess.

I'm gonna need to find a way to get more film then. There's no way I can be out in space and not document it.

Well, I didn't actually buy it -- my boyfriend did. You might be able to ask him where he got it from? I don't know if they stock that kind of thing at the waystations.

But there's a camera on these communicators, too -- I just don't think there's really a way to print them out from there?

I'll definitely ask him about it. What's his name? So I can get in touch.

....Actually, come to think of it, I don't think I ever got your name, did I? Or gave mine.
