[He leans a little closer in, to show how REALLY IMPORTANT it is. ]

I need to you tell me when your birthdays are. I also accept dates of anniversaries or likewise important dates to you.

[He picks up a pencil from off camera, and sits poised, ready to write into a little notebook. His words are a little muffled when he speaks again on account of the pencil in his mouth. Earth pony problems.]

Oooooooh, I've never heard of begetting before, what's it all about?

[Elves, man.] I would tell you that it is in the late spring, but moving between planets as we do, I do not know what help that would be. It is odd- this inability to measure time by seasons.

Tell me about it. We control our own seasons, so we're used to a way more regimented year than what we get in places like this.

We ponies have always done that. It helps that the pegasi have power over the weather, but the rest of us help however we can, too. Like at the start of every spring, we wrap-up winter - score the iced up ponds ready for them to melt, wake up the animals who've been hibernating - stuff like that.

Yep! And given that we're, y'know, herbivores, it's super duper important we have a good stock of food ready for the winter. No one wants to starve to death, that would be painful and unfortunate.
