[ Nova looks... tired, especially if you saw her on her first day. She's sitting up on her bed and her space looks pretty immaculate and not at all lived-in. She looks a little anxious, and rebraids the bottom of her hair before speaking, visibly uncomfortable with the camera. ]

Uh. Hey. I guess. I hope I'm not waking anyone up. I'm new so... I don't know. I can't sleep. Does anyone have any tips? Or something? It's... well, it's not exactly quiet, because things make noise. But it's... sterile? It doesn't sound right, or smell right.

I don't really want to think about it too hard. Anyway. If you could tell me what you did when you were new...

[ She trails off, awkward and tired and lets the silence go on a little long ]

It's probably just a personal problem.

[ As she's sure Katniss knows, if she's been through one of these deals already, but ... sigh. ]

Anyways ... [ Back to the actual thing she posted about ] I had the same problem when I got here, too. I have a couple plants that help make it feel a little less creepy and metallic, if you want one.

[ pauses, debating with herself about something ]

How well did we know each other?

It's not taking it if I'm offering it up ...

[ She pauses, too, and something in the way she pauses seems to indicate it's complicated. ]

I mean, I'd say we were friends but -- not super close. I was ... [ She pauses. Get it out, Ino. ] I was actually a lot closer to Gale, but I heard a lot about you from him.

...Really?

[ she's obviously thought of Gale since she got plucked from Panem but she's mostly been suppressing thinking about past relationships too much, lest she become sentimental ]

Hopefully not all terrible things.

[ ... A little laugh, somewhat relieved ]

No, no. All good stuff.

[ Some frustration, of course, because it's Gale, but ... ]

Obviously, hearing about where you come from wasn't exactly nice, but nothing bad about you as a person.

And... the Games?

[ she's tentative ]

I've heard about them, yeah.

[ She's careful, now ... because she's realized she doesn't know exactly what the last thing Katniss remembers is. ]

I also ... [ She pauses ] Rue was there, too.

[ she looks a little gut-punched, needing a moment before she replies. she tries to cover her emotional reaction but she's Katniss, and it's impossible ]

…Oh.

[ Yeah, she figured. But: ]

She was happy there. She had everything she needed.

[ Hopefully Katniss can at least take some small comfort in that ]

[ looks away, and runs her fingers over her braid ]

....Good. I'm glad.

If nothing else, there was more than enough food to go around for everyone, so -- in some ways, it wasn't so bad.

[ The concept of being in a situation where you don't have enough to eat is ... admittedly, still rather foreign to her, but obviously, that much is rather important. ]

Sorry -- this must be really strange to hear about. [ Since she doesn't know her and all ... ] If you want to ask me anything, go ahead.

Yeah... I will. I don't know. It's a lot to take in.

[ She sighs ]

Part of the deal was having your memories messed with in some way, a lot of the time ... so it's really annoying.

[ She pauses ... but oh! Wait! ]

Oh -- but I do have a photo somewhere. Hold on.

[ She gets up from where she's sitting, leaving the communicator behind, and goes to the wall behind her, searching for something in what looks to be a wall full of the things ]

[ waits nervously. she doesn't know what to expect or how to feel about a photo ]

[ It's not particularly exciting, but when she returns to the camera she has a photo of herself with both Gale and Katniss on either side of her. Katniss looks, well, a bit unhappy to be photographed. Gale looks a little more relaxed and happy, and ... suspiciously, appears to have his arm around Ino, who's holding up a peace sign ]

Here we go. Uh -- can you see it okay?

[ She tries to adjust it so the camera won't be blurry and she can get a clear view of the photograph ]

Yeah. Uh, yeah, I can see it.

[ she's really, really not sure what to make of visual evidence. not to mention all of the mental energy she's spent trying not to miss people, trying to stay focused on her goals and not let anything distract her. it's all a lot to take in and despite herself, she tears up ]

[ She can't exactly see the screen properly while she's holding the photo up, but she does move it away after a moment to check her reaction, and -- ]

--Oh! Um --

[ THAT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN ]

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you --!

[ self-conscious, embarrassed, and quickly wiping her face ]

No, it's— it's fine. I haven't been sleeping and I. I forgot how much I miss him. Everyone, really.

[ ... She relaxes a little ... ]

Yeah, it's -- uh. I mean, I miss him, too.

[ She's more firm and insistent now: ]

Seriously, if you want a plant, you can have it. Not the same as a forest, but it's better than nothing.

...I'll take you up on the plant.

[ a beat, while she tries to regain some semblance of levity ]

So, were you two like... a thing?

What ship are you on? I can take a shuttle over.

[ ... Her cheeks flush a little. ]

Um ... yeah, for awhile.

I hope it was... a good experience?

Okay. That was awkward. What I'm trying to say is he's a great guy.

Alright ... which one do you want? I've got a couple.

[ She pans the camera over to the table in her room -- it's got a few different options. ]

... Yeah. It was great. [ She hasn't ... really talked about it at all in the months and months she's been here, and had even ... well, essentially moved on. So it's a bit awkward, but ... ] Just, I got pulled here in the middle of that, and haven't seen him in about a year, so.
