More like the latter, but a few generations before me. Some crazy scientist got their hands on a race of beings in some backwater planet that could change their genetic structure based on their environment. Coupla generations and one huge lab break later boom presto you got us, Whifferdills. Scourge of the galaxy, by most people's approximation. We can pretty much shapeshift into anything you set your heart to.

[ okay, but that begs the question - ]

So why a penguin? I mean, you could be badass shark-tiger-dinosaur with laser gun arms.

Well right off the bat, a shark has to be under water and dinosaurs don't fit in a lot of buildings. Plus, after the novelty wears off, laser arms really aren't all that practical.

Who wouldn't want to be a penguin, though Penguins are great.

Air-breathing shark and tiny dinosaur. Easy fix. [ he did say 'anything you set your heart to'. surely that allows for some impractical creativity, right? ]

I wouldn't. I mean, no opposable thumbs, for starters. Unless you're a penguin with hands, which frankly, sounds a little creepy.

The lack of fingers is one of the pros of this form. You ever tried to grow a pair of hands, it's a nightmare! And then I gotta keep track of all of them all the time. Not to mention all the other weird appendages you lot have.

Naw, I'm sticking with the penguin, thanks. You can keep your thumbs.

If thumbs are your issue, you might at least be a bird that flies. It must get tedious waddling around and eating fish for every damn meal.

Fish is delicious. Especially raw. I thought you humans were all about the sushi.

And flying's over rated. Them birds are too delicate, hollow bones, you know? The penguin is sturdy.

Besides, it's an old favourite. Did it for a coupla years back in the day, and forms you done before are always easier. 'sides, I think it kinda suits me.

Also, flying? Yeah, grossly underrated, actually. At least, when you're doing it at high speeds in a suit of armor. But we can't all be as cool as me. Old habits die hard, hm?

I'm guessing this ain't your run of mill suit of armor cause I ain't never seen one of them takin' off. At least without a resounding 'clunk' at the other end.

Pretty much the opposite of that, actually. Imagine the most badass suit of armor you can, put some red and gold on there, slap on some explosives and jets, and you've got the idea.

I am imagining it, and it sounds badass as hell. You didn't happen to bring it with you, did you?
