I've noticed a lot of discussion lately on the ways in which we can re-purpose the Iskaulit, but I am wondering if any thought has been put into organization. The ideas people are sharing are good and I believe they should be pursued, [some more than others if you ask her,] but a mad dash for space and resources won't do anyone any good.

We may also wish to consider leaving some of the ship's space free. Things have been relatively quiet, but we may find ourselves in need in an emergency.

Several months ago, we were attacked by another fleet of starships - we still don't know who they were or why they were attacking - and afterwards, I made the suggestion to both my own officers and the captain of the Three Twins that perhaps we should have some sort of fleetwide plan in the event of another attack, to help protect those ships without pilots and/or security personnel, and to simply give ourselves a better fighting chance overall. Every ship for itself is not as effective as a coordinated effort among all of us.

[She sighs.]

Only one or two ships were interested, and some people were even downright hostile towards the captain of the Three Twins for suggesting it on the network. I believe they saw it as her trying to take control of the fleet, which was not her - or my - intention at all. Of course, there are different people here now, so maybe I'm worried about nothing. But I thought it only fair for you to know.

I appreciate the warning. I would expect there to be some assumptions along those lines, but not to that extent.

[Beverly nods, and easily lets the matter drop. She may be inclined to be nosy, but she is also not one to force people to talk about things, especially not someone she just met.]

Well, in any case, I am open to coordinating with others, should you decide to attempt a meeting of some sort.

I appreciate that. [Both dropping the aforementioned difficulty with her previous crew and her openness to helping in coordinating something.] I have no intention of any sort of long-term control over the matter, but help in at least laying down the foundation would hopefully be more productive than attempting anything on my own.

Agreed. Perhaps once people see that this is not any sort of power grab or attempt to impose our will on them, they'll be more willing to cooperate. I can at least talk to Sokka and Ino about it.

He's my captain, on the Blue Fish. I don't want to presume to make any decisions on his or the Blue Fish's half, but I think he'd be amenable.

I hope so. The support of captains in organization will be critical to gaining cooperation from others.

It's not a problem. It's something we should have been working on before this.

Believe me, I know how difficult it is to organize any large group of people.

[There's no pleasing everyone, that's for damn sure. Possibly no pleasing anyone.]

Particularly people who don't want to be here.

I cannot imagine there are many who do.

You'd be surprised. For some people, this is a better situation than home. But you're right, I think most of us would rather not be here.

I suppose that is not a possibility I had considered.

[Thedas is pretty garbage when you get down to it, but she's not sure she knows anyone who'd be willing to leave it. Certainly not forever.]

I hadn't either, until I talked to a few people about it. Though it seems we all go home eventually, one way or another, so they see this more as... a breather, I suppose.
