text; get this child out of his comfort zone
Who: Kazuto Kirigaya and [insert your name here]
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Marsiva
When: Today / Sept 4
[Waking up in unfamiliar surroundings is not new for Kazuto, but in the past it's been quite a different experience. It's not an MMO this time, which is what catches him off guard the most. He can tell immediately, even with a simple glance around- the world is too real, too detailed. (Just in case, he tests a few menu-summoning gestures, but no dice.)
Waking up in a hospital-eque area makes him think that something went wrong with his last MMO dive, but that isn't right. He clearly remembers being safe and healthy the night before- they'd checked him out at the hospital before he'd gone to Sinon's. So... what? A kidnapping? Some kind of experiment? Something about this place doesn't feel right, and there's information slowly filtering into his head that doesn't make much sense.
And then he goes and looks out a window. Yikes.
He spends some time wandering, quietly observing, though there isn't really anyone to observe- computers, broadcasts, machines, yes, but people? The place is pretty deserted. It's eerie and uncomfortable, and he gets totally lost before long. Finally, though, he puts to use the knowledge of the broadcast system that is inexplicably in his head now, typing out a message.]
Is anyone out there available to answer some questions? I don't understand what's happened to me.
[Yep, that sure is a message. Which... is probably gibberish to anyone who doesn't read Japanese. Someone should probably let him know about the auto-translate not working on text.]

[ she says this with such a dramatic inflection. but - oops, that wasn't actually answering a question, was it? she just assumes that's something he might be wondering! ]
Hi! Um - this is Rapunzel, by the way - or, um, that's my name! I guess we've never met, probably - I'm talking to you through this communicator thing! I can try to answer any questions you might have!
[ audio ]
Yeah, I figured that part when I looked out the window. I'm-
[.......PROBLEM. He's surrounded by strangers, so his alias would be better to use than his real name. But he's here IRL, not online, so using avatar handles is kind of taboo. What to do, what to do...
...Ugh, better play it safe so I don't regret it later. Even so, he stumbles a little over it.]
I'm Kirito. Nice to meet you.
[ audio ]
Have you just arrived, then? I've only been here about a month, myself.
[ and she's all too eager to impart her space-age knowledge. ]
[ audio ]
Er- just Kirito. And yeah, I woke up here an hour or so ago. Really not what I expected when I went to sleep last night.
[Or is it still night? How does one tell in space?]
[ audio ]
[ she nods sagely, before remembering - oh, right, he can't see her right now! ]
I don't think it's what anyone would expect to wake up to! ...Unless you were already here, of course. It's a lot to take in all at once, isn't it?
[ audio ]
[He's pretty good at adapting to new situations, but- seriously, this is like some messed up sci-fi movie. MMOs, even deadly ones like SAO, just can't compare.]
I guess it could be worse, though. Some people here seem surprisingly happy.
[ audio ]
[ but this is rapunzel the eternally optimistic, so it might be wise to take her opinion with a grain of salt. ]
[ audio ]
[He can understand it, though. Back in SAO they reached a point where people started banding together and creating their own little families to deal with the reality of their situation started to take its toll. EVen he'd done that, though it had taken him two years to get there.
You work with what you have, basically.]
Is it safe here?
[ audio ]
[ audio ]
What counts as looking for trouble, do you know?
[ audio ]
[ yep she is being serious right now. ]
[ audio ]
It's not like he was very specific when he asked.]
I'll... try to avoid that, yeah.
[ audio ]
[ audio ]
[Just how sci-fi does this place get, exactly?]
[ audio ]
Mh-hmm! Though the one I've been too wasn't anything too crazy. But it had some very nice beaches!
[ audio ]
[ audio ]
[ audio ]
[Still as creepy and horrible as the first time he'd heard it, yep.]
[ audio ]
[ audio ]
[SUDDENLY INTRIGUED. Cooks are the greatest, they can do magic in the kitchen and it's the best thing ever.]
Did you know how to cook before you came here?
[ audio ]
[ she just got lucky! ]
[ audio ]
It must be pretty strange to suddenly know something you didn't before.
[ audio ]
[ audio ]
[It's nothing he's ever experienced before, but the situation is familiar enough that at least he can slip back into the SAO mentality that kept him alive the last time he'd been trapped. Not ideal, but... he'll manage.]
So, any tips on managing this place? Is there a manual?
[ audio ]
[ this didn't matter too much to her, but she supposes it might for some people! ]
