Let Me Sing You the Song of My People
Who: Vanyel Ashkevron & Anyone
Broadcast: Yes
Action: S.S. Starstruck
When: Now
[ The feed pops open to show Vanyel, his hair pulled back in a loose queue that falls over one shoulder. It's like he tried his best to look good for this broadcast, but that surely was not it at all. He didn't even bother to dye out that gray streak running from his temple back into the rest of his hair. In his arms he is cradling a guitar in his arms, fingers idly plucking, soft little twangs underscoring his words when he speaks. ]
Good day - evening, perhaps? It is so hard to tell on the ships.
I was wondering, as we travel to our new destination, if any one would wish to share the music of their home worlds with me? Music has always been a passion of mine, and I feel that the music of a world tells a much deeper story than simply words. I would appreciate, and be honored, to hear yours.
[ For those who are aboard the Starstruck, he is sitting in what counts as his room, strumming the guitar though the tune itself is something that is more at home in a medieval king's court than it is aboard a sleek spaceship - or even on a guitar. He will gladly receive any visitors who wish to stop by. ]

It was a gift from a friend I made on another ship. Perhaps on another of the planets or way stations we come to they might have one you could trade for.

No, I would say not. The Way Stations have been rather basic for the most part. But I am sure over time you could acquire all you need.

[Do not make him dream of getting his very own Doof Wagon, Vanyel. That is a mistake.]
no subject
[ Well he doesn't really think that'll fit on their ship anyways, so they're probably safe. ]
One should never rule out a possibility. Given time, hard work, and some ingenuity, I am sure you could start putting together something reminiscent of your home world.

[He pans the camera over to the pilot's console to show his handiwork. Bits of scrap have wound up there on the dashboard, twisted or pieced together into decorative shapes: a skull, some kind of reptilian creature -- even a blocky, sharp-edged miniature tanker.]
no subject
[ The decorations make him start lightly - mostly the reptilian creature. It reminds him far to much of the wyrsa, canine-reptilian creatures he had fought numerous times in his world, and nearly lost his life to. They had helped to take much more from him in his youth... ]
That is quite the interesting aesthetic. Do the pieces mean something?

[He brightens a little and goes over to the console, turning the camera away from himself and ducking down a little so Vanyel can see what he's scratched onto the yoke: N U X.]
no subject
[ He is quiet a moment, mouthing the letters to try and sound them. ]
Nux? Is that your name?
no subject
no subject
If it suits you. My name is Vanyel Ashkevron.

[But he smiles a little -- it's a joke.]
no subject
[ He chuckles. ]
Indeed, but that is why I usually shorten it to Van.

If you think my name is difficult... my Companion's name is Yfandes.

Do you pick them for yourselves?
no subject
My brothers did for me. Nux: it means a hard nut to crack.
[He grins wide, his scars stretching in a way that should be creepy but somehow isn't at all.]
no subject
A high compliment, it sounds like.
no subject
[Somehow, he brightens up even more. Good: Van gets it.]
Yeah.

[ Was not quite sure he did, but the other was obviously pleased with his name, so there was no reason to call bring negativity to something that brought the other joy. ]
That will serve you well here, Nux. Hold tight to it.
