Steven's eyes widen in surprise as the stranger speaks.]
You know them? [He feels like he should be concerned about this.
But it's weird. This guy on the video doesn't look very gem-y at all, and Pearl was sure that there were no gems up in space with them. Nothing fits right. Except maybe the name... Steven doesn't know the names of too many gemstones, but Carnelian still sounds like a gem-y name to him.]
You could say that... um, we've met a few times! But we're not exactly friends yet. [Well, if this guy has an in with them, maybe it will help in making peace! ...Or maybe he'll capture Steven for the Homeworld but he'd rather not consider that possibility.]
But it's nice to meet you, Carnelian! Can I call you Carny for short? It sounds catchier!

[ sometimes he thinks he's used to thinks absolutely not making sense, and then he runs into situations like this one. stiles stares for a moment, then shakes his head like he's trying to clear the cobwebs out. ]
