[ Strangely enough, what greets you isn't a person, but the view of the back of one, from a few feet away from the nearest communication station. (It rhymes, how nifty.) Because he's standing-- well, pacing-- and far away from the camera, his head isn't visible, but he seems to be wearing relatively unremarkable clothing.

Also he has a tail.

It looks soft.

And an instant later, he seems to notice that there's something watching him (as much as a machine can do that), but before he can make it to the camera to turn it off, something else-- black and inky, yet somehow solid-- makes it there first, cutting the feed, though not before a voice can be heard: ]

[ There is a new person aboard your ship. He is completely unremarkable, outside the fact that he is clearly not human (weird animal ears and tail? check), and also there is a weird black dog hanging around next to him.

...this is a pet-friendly establishment, right?

So yup this is your new pal, let's all get along? He doesn't know if there are others on the ship or not, but...well, he'll learn soon enough, eh? ]

[Allen is walking out of the sick bay on his way to the kitchen. He's put in a lot of work the past few days, helping make a vaccine to stop the protein virus. He almost doesn't notice the new presence until he catches sight in the corner of his eye.]

Ah...hello?

[Was someone there with a dog? Or did he really not get enough sleep last night?]

[ Wow, Allen, you're so cool...............

Simultaneously, the young man jumps, surprised, and the dog...kind of flickers, and briefly elongates. Weird. ]

Oh-- hi, I'm sorry, I didn't know there was anyone else here. I've been alone on a ship for a while, and I don't mind it, but it was a bit too quiet, so it's good to see someone else.

[ All of that in like one breath. ]

And, ah, no. No fishing. This is a space ship. I don't know how it got its name.

( She's not really sure what to make of this, though she'd been fiddling with the communication station mostly to ensure she knows how hers works on her own ship. There's also the cuff...link... but that's not currently of as much interest. This brief moving snippet of picture she knows is a video (thank you, augments), leaves her curious over what in the world she just saw. )

( None of this is for Ella, but the information she has from the augments that make her able to pilot give her that knowledge, and some magical awareness makes it less starkly difficult to confront. She's not sure how to switch settings, so for now she's stuck on video, looking a little perplexed and considering what she might have seen instead. )

It doesn't speak, because its vessel is paying attention to something else, but it does sort of huff out a sigh, not entirely animal-like, more...emotional, strange. ]
