That's very true. If I'm honest, there's something comforting about the idea.

[Oh no she was just teasing she didn't expect that answer. Someone help no one prepared her for the bloom of warmth in her chest that Cassandra's confession causes.]

Elize was nearly taken while she was down there. Fortunately I heard her screaming and was close enough that I could help.

Never mind the types that spend their times in the taverns there.

[She knows taverns are usually a rougher sort of crowd, but it's very extreme and blatant down there, okay.]

[So much for repairs. At those words, Elize was nearly taken, a broken ship is much less important. Now she's a little more focused on who she's going to murder today.]

Some men. I have no idea if they were organized, but they certainly won't be trying it again.

[That makes Jove relax a little, but it's still not quite enough to get her to let this go completely. That's Cullen's adopted daughter, someone Jove has come to care for deeply as well, and there are just some things that don't fly.]

I hope you killed them. Anyone who would go after a little girl like her certainly can't be trusted to not do the same again if the opportunity presented itself.

[Cassandra shakes her head. It's better not to dwell on it when it didn't happen. And besides, Jove is right. She doesn't have to thank Cassandra. Even if she had no idea who Elize is, she would have stepped in.]

I've begun training her to manage herself better hand-to-hand, when she does not have the option of using her magic.
