I was told that these augments [she gestures to her own and feels a little stupid for doing so because everybody knows what she's talking about (hopefully)] can alter memories. Does anybody have any more specific information on that?

Like how far back in your memory can it reach? How much can it change? How long does it last?

Odd about your memories. [You know. What made you ask about this in the first place.] Did you suddenly remember things you didn't before, or are there things you should remember but can't? Stuff like that.

They know me and we were...close. I just don't remember anything about it.

[He gives her a solemn nod, something troubled in his expression.]

If you were close, that seems like the sort of thing that would be difficult to forget entirely. Maybe they knew a different version of you.

[Is it weird that this makes perfect sense to him? Is it weird that he's able to explain this? Maybe a little.]

Where I was before, there was another Souji Seta - that's my name, by the way - and he didn't just look like me, but we had extremely similar experiences. [He pauses for a moment, remembering comparing scars when they first met, finding all similarities except for one, a cut on his hand only a few months old.] There was also a girl like us. She has a different name, and she looks - a little different, and I think her life was a little different, too, but it was also the same in a lot of ways.

So this other Elena could have had almost the same exact life as me, but diverged at some point?

Mhm. [He nods.] It's possible. A lot of things are possible.

[She's quiet for a moment and then runs a hand through her hair, pushing it back out of her face.]

I'm not sure if that simplifies things or makes it more complicated.

[He nods again, thinking about the constant conflicts with Adachi, struggling to prove that he wasn't the person he thought he knew from his version of Inaba.]

It can be difficult when people think they know you. They have expectations.

[Like if they think you're a cold-blooded serial murderer. Souji frowns at the memory, the two of them coming to blows in Liminal Space.]

I don't think there's any expectations in my case. At least not any obvious ones?

[Abigail seemed to at least be accepting of the fact that Elena doesn't know who she is, that they can't just pick up wherever she thought they had left off.]

[What? Oh, right. He gave his name and she gave hers, the actual manners part of exchanging names got skipped since it was a little more incidental that they gave names in the first place. She nods a little.]
