[The feed turns on to Sokka looking exceptionally miserable, the Blue Fish's kitchen as his backdrop. He turns to wave a hand at the empty kitchen, because this is an important part to his point.]

Do you see that, Flooters? Do you know what that is? That is a kitchen devoid of a cook, which is just about the saddest thing in the universe. Even sadder than a turtleduck with one leg. It's that sad.

SO! Does any cook here want to help out the Blue Fish? We have every single upgrade at your disposal if you want to come cook for us! We even have frozen meat and fish, hunted fresh by your handsome captain here.

[He's turning on the puppy eyes. Don't stare too much into them, they'll steal your soul.]

What was it like to date Gale?

[ Well, that's .... a question.

She looks away, and then down, for a moment. How does she even answer that? He'd had his share of struggles -- admittedly, many of them with or about Katniss. It was clear he had had feelings for her, ones that eventually changed into something meant for her. He had been a lot more honest and open than anyone she'd dated before him, and though they'd had their disagreements ... it had been her first real "normal" relationship, probably. After years of struggling with the emotionally unavailable, the dangerous, the mentally unstable ...

But it's hard to boil all of that down into something she can explain without overloading Katniss with a massive amount of context that was both unneeded and honestly kind of depressing and terrible. ... She tries, after a moment, though: ]

He brought me flowers. And he knew what they meant.

... Nobody had ever done that for me, before.

[ She pauses, playing with a piece of her hair absently ]

There were a lot of things that I was struggling with back then, but he made it easy to forget about that for a little while, when we were together. Maybe it wasn't good to run away from my problems like that, but ... it was nice while it lasted.

[ katniss has some regrets asking. she didn't actually expect it to be so difficult, but of course it was. she had asked out of curiosity but also because she missed him, and wanted to feel connected but in a way that wasn't as painful as talking about Rue... but she traded some of her discomfort for Ino's. her voice is warm when she replies, and a bit reverent ]

I'm the last person who's going to begrudge you running away from your problems.

Thanks for sharing that, though. I'm glad. He's a really good guy. I didn't mean to bring up anything... [ handwave. emotional. sad. etc. ]
