01 ❀ video

Who: Flora
Broadcast: Fleet-wide Video
Action: Marsiva Only
When: Dec 10th

[The first thing she does with the communicator after learning its functions is go through the network archive. She doesn't read everything exactly, but the fact that she hits the end of it relatively quickly is both a good and bad thing. It's less to sort through, sure, but it also means it's less to know and that means she's at the relative start of something, with no telling of when it'll end. As much as she tries to keep it buried there's a sort of weariness about her, for a moment.

She was going home. And now she's somewhere else.

But it's not anybody's fault here, she won't take it out on them, and so she tries to smile, instead. It's small, but it's there, but the rest of her is tightly-wound. She sits primly, her hands folded in front of her (how is it that she's not holding her communicator?), but it's stiff. It's not something that would be out of place, formalities aren't exactly loose, but it's too rigid for her. There's not an elephant in the room, so much as dagger tips on all sides, and if she even breathes incorrectly, she'll regret everything.

She does not want to be here.]

Hello, everyone. My name is Flora, it's nice to meet you all. [Even if she wishes it were under better circumstances. Like not being kidnapped again.]

I must admit, this is not where I expected to be. [Perhaps the greatest understatement of all time(lines).] But since I'm here...I wonder if anyone's heard of Exsilium. [She really hopes none of the Dan, her other friends, or anyone's here. They've all been through enough.]

For those of you who've been here a while, do we ever go anywhere? [Her fingers tighten for just a moment, but her voice is calm and even, unwavering.] Other planets, I mean. And, would anyone mind indulging me some conversation? We can talk about anything you like, but I would like to talk about magic for a start, please, and if you're at all familiar with it.

[She could use the distraction, but she is also a very curious creature by nature hahaha.]

One other thing, please, if you don't mind: Does anyone know where they're keeping our belongings? Among other things, I had a lot of plants on me at the time, and some of them are--[she rubs an arm sheepishly, and frowns slightly. How to put this delicately.] ah...a little wild. I'm worried about them.

Thank you.

[It was a struggle not to fall to pieces from the moment she first woke up to sterile ceilings and scents, different though they were, they were still far too familiar for comfort. But those memories she could bear. Ambient technological sounds and her own footsteps were her only company as she stalked through the halls, but when she saw a viewing portal into that endless infinite nothing, that was it. The scene changed, and Flora stood, rooted and transfixed, before the memory of something vile and alive were on her tongue and she only just made it in time to the bathroom to be sick.

She managed not to make a mess, but she felt revolting, and showered until the water ran freezing, all the while wondering why. Why here, why here of all places, why why why.

--

Time passes and she doesn't find anything or anyone. She makes sure she understands her communicator correctly, but doesn't trust herself to speak to anyone at the moment.

She doesn't see about food.

While she doesn't have everything she had on her at the time, she does have some nail polish and a little bottle of acetone and cotton swabs, and so she finds a place, well away from the viewing bay and with her back facing it besides, and carefully attends to her hands. The smell of both are strong, and she relishes it. It keeps everything else at bay.]

[whether or not he catches onto the fact that she isn't being completely open and honest, he just smiles a little bit more. just veiled and understated all around, for now.]

Hmm... Maybe your home is more kind to magical creatures than some. Questions like that could be considered dangerous if taken the wrong way, you know.

You can call me Tek.

[and he's apparently fine with setting the topic aside for now. stashing information away for later, he just carries on with being more or less friendly. they've only just met, after all.]

And I do love a good conversation, if that is indeed what you're looking for.

What would you like to talk about?

[he patiently waits while she remembers how to conversation. it's actually not a terribly uncommon trait among the otherworld refugees around here.

and he shrugs a shoulder, as if the whole topic is underwhelming.]

We've spent most of the time being terribly ill, to be honest. Also being tortured with horrible food and bunking conditions, and taunted by our mysterious captors.

That is a very good question. I'm feeling better, and I don't think that anyone has died from it, so I'm sure we're all fine.

It's probably not contagious.

[he's still smirking. maybe it's a joke. maybe he's just kidding around with her. maybe he thinks the whole thing is funny.]

Fever, vomiting, extreme weakness.

The most interesting part was the fact that even creatures incapable of being sick were infected. I believe a cure was concocted, but some of us managed to burn it off ourselves.

Some of them have. And others remain cautious--as previously stated.

I think the illness loosened a few tongues, at least. ...When immortal beings begin to suffer things that only mortals should, I think they tend to get nervous.

[--as he knows from personal experience.]
