Who: Flora
Broadcast: Fleet-wide Video
Action: Marsiva Only
When: Dec 10th
[The first thing she does with the communicator after learning its functions is go through the network archive. She doesn't read everything exactly, but the fact that she hits the end of it relatively quickly is both a good and bad thing. It's less to sort through, sure, but it also means it's less to know and that means she's at the relative start of something, with no telling of when it'll end. As much as she tries to keep it buried there's a sort of weariness about her, for a moment.
She was going home. And now she's somewhere else.
But it's not anybody's fault here, she won't take it out on them, and so she tries to smile, instead. It's small, but it's there, but the rest of her is tightly-wound. She sits primly, her hands folded in front of her (how is it that she's not holding her communicator?), but it's stiff. It's not something that would be out of place, formalities aren't exactly loose, but it's too rigid for her. There's not an elephant in the room, so much as dagger tips on all sides, and if she even breathes incorrectly, she'll regret everything.
She does not want to be here.]
Hello, everyone. My name is Flora, it's nice to meet you all. [Even if she wishes it were under better circumstances. Like not being kidnapped again.]
I must admit, this is not where I expected to be. [Perhaps the greatest understatement of all time(lines).] But since I'm here...I wonder if anyone's heard of Exsilium. [She really hopes none of the Dan, her other friends, or anyone's here. They've all been through enough.]
For those of you who've been here a while, do we ever go anywhere? [Her fingers tighten for just a moment, but her voice is calm and even, unwavering.] Other planets, I mean. And, would anyone mind indulging me some conversation? We can talk about anything you like, but I would like to talk about magic for a start, please, and if you're at all familiar with it.
[She could use the distraction, but she is also a very curious creature by naturehahaha.]
One other thing, please, if you don't mind: Does anyone know where they're keeping our belongings? Among other things, I had a lot of plants on me at the time, and some of them are--[she rubs an arm sheepishly, and frowns slightly. How to put this delicately.] ah...a little wild. I'm worried about them.
Thank you.
(action)
[It was a struggle not to fall to pieces from the moment she first woke up to sterile ceilings and scents, different though they were, they were still far too familiar for comfort. But those memories she could bear. Ambient technological sounds and her own footsteps were her only company as she stalked through the halls, but when she saw a viewing portal into that endless infinite nothing, that was it. The scene changed, and Flora stood, rooted and transfixed, before the memory of something vile and alive were on her tongue and she only just made it in time to the bathroom to be sick.
She managed not to make a mess, but she felt revolting, and showered until the water ran freezing, all the while wondering why. Why here, why here of all places, why why why.
--
Time passes and she doesn't find anything or anyone. She makes sure she understands her communicator correctly, but doesn't trust herself to speak to anyone at the moment.
She doesn't see about food.
While she doesn't have everything she had on her at the time, she does have some nail polish and a little bottle of acetone and cotton swabs, and so she finds a place, well away from the viewing bay and with her back facing it besides, and carefully attends to her hands. The smell of both are strong, and she relishes it. It keeps everything else at bay.]

but she did ask for some pleasant conversation in general. so here you are, Flora: one pleasant, friendly face at your service. ]
Hey, Flora! My name's Lloyd, it's nice to meet you!
Umm... There's magic where I'm from, but not a lot of people can use it. You have to have elven blood in you or something like that. Some of my friends can do it, though, and they can do some really awesome stuff with it!
video;
Oh but his friendliness is already doing her some good, and her smile comes a little more easily.]
It's nice to meet you too, Lloyd.
[She blinks at the "elven blood" part. That certainly is familiar. What are the odds...?]
Oh really, what sorts of things, if you don't mind me asking?
video;
My teacher's a healer, and another one of my friends can bring out Summon Spirits whenever she wants. It's pretty awesome!
[ and he might be a liiiiittle bit jealous, even though he has the potential to do his own magic. ]

so, for now, she gets the image of an absurdly pretty man with rosy lavender eyes, and he's smiling in a quiet sort of way.]
...Cutting right to the magic talk, mm?
video
So it's been discussed, before.
[At least, that's what she's getting out of this, though, it's no cause for relief, yet, and her tone carries an implied question: in what sort of capacity.]
I have a curiosity about such things, I admit.
video
[and he rests chin in hand. he's also going about this cautiously--not that he needs extra reason to be paranoid, but people poking around for magical information tend to get his suspicions up.]
Might I ask why you're so curious? It must be an important topic to you if you're asking about it so quickly.

Huh. Didn't think I'd see you again.
surprise
I didn't think I'd see you for a long while, either.
[She doesn't say "ever". She doesn't like the idea of never seeing people she likes ever again, and apart from that, you just really never knew, sometimes. If nothing else, this was proof positive of that.]
Have you been here for very long, Kaneis?
no subject
A couple months, I think. Hard to tell in space.
Did you ever make it to...wherever you were going? [Guess he had forgotten to ask her where she was planning to go. Whatever is home for her, he assumes]

[here she is on your feed, a gothy-looking teenager with long, dark hair and equally dark clothes. she's also whispering for some reason? damn fairy curses, she couldn't talk at a normal volume if she tried.]
I was actually just asking people about it the other day.
video
[But this girl is whispering, and so Flora lowers her own voice. ARE YOU IN TROUBLE, FRIEND?]
Um, pardon me, but is everything okay?
video
[she looks apologetic and a little confused in her own right, until--]
Oh! No, don't worry about my voice. I have kind of a... throat thing.

[But she doesn't know this person... hm.]
We visited a planet before. There wasn't much to do there. And we stop at waystations. There are really big birds there now and you can buy things.
text
Hello, there. It seems there are a few of us from here, unfortunately. What's your name?
What's a waystation, exactly? And ooh, what kind of birds? ...and I suppose what can we buy, too. I'm sorry for all the questions. [Birds are nice! She likes birds!]
no subject
Asano Rin. I'd rather be in Exsilium than here, personally. At least there was more to do there. What's your name?
A waystation is a place where you can stop in space. You can go outside of your ship and buy things like games and food and alcohol, but it's all in big packages, you can't just buy one package of cigarettes or one bottle of alcohol. The birds are really tall with bald heads and they have fluffy black and white feathers and long legs. They look like they'd be fast at running, but I think they're mostly there for their meat and things. Eggs and feathers and leather and whatnot. I don't mind questions.
[she's not exactly outgoing anymore, but she doesn't mind questions.]

Don't you just leave plants out and rain and sunshine does all the rest? Why would you need to feed them?

To be honest, I'm not sure if there would be a way to keep them healthy in here.
video;
I usually have no problems growing things, but yeah, without something like a hydroponics setup, keeping them alive under their own power will be difficult, if not impossible.
But the plants I'm most concerned for, um, have other ways they can obtain nutriends.
video;
[ wait, what ]
Uh, I really hope you're not talking about plants that eat people.

She wants some comfort, something like Nia Khera or the smell of homecooked food. Instead her nose leads her to chemicals and another person. Oh well. It's probably better not to be alone right now or she might start thinking more about those last few seconds before she let go of his hand, if he saved Elle, of the woman she passed--
Clearing her throat, she plops down near Flora without asking.]
I've never seen someone dye their nails that way.
permaction because i'm lazy dwi
She starts, her head whipping up when Milla clears her throat, and she messes up her middle finger in the process]
S-sorry, you startled me.

[Flora isn't done them all, but she caaaaaarefully finishes the last nail before closing the bottle and settling it aside. She can finish later, and they all have at least one coat, anyway.
She feels a bit more together than she did at the start, and feels like she can have a conversation. Maybe. She's going to try, anyway.]
