[There is a very pretty young woman on your network feed, everyone! Actually, she's a little too pretty. Not blindingly so no, that's the Lunars, but she's very... symmetrical. Completely symmetrical. Which just doesn't seem quite right to most humans, but good luck figuring out that that's what's tripping you up.

Pretty or not, she doesn't look thrilled.]

I am so-o-o bored. Is there anything to do on this ship? Empty space is really not that exciting and I'm starting to feel useless.

Is there anybody out there? Please let there be someone out there.

Planet ---

[It's late afternoon when what might be an unusual sight appears on the outskirts of town. One of those elk-drawn carts glides over the ice carrying a cargo of one small pine tree, a pair of cardboard boxes full of various items but, by the rattling sounds, appears to be mostly glass bottles, and one trechcoat-wearing angel. He sits at the head of cart, just behind the elk, his feet up on the supports of the treads and grinning as the native, who he's either charmed or bribed into this task, drives the whole outfit from behind. They're not going all that fast, but any slight bump or slide elicits a childish 'weeeeeee' from the angel, with hands thrown in the air.]

Later, the SS Bloodsport

[Michael bids his driver goodbye outside the ship and proceeds to haul the goods in himself. The boxes go in first, followed by the tree, which proceeds to shed snow and pine needles all over the floor of the cargo hold. Some wrestling with the plant later, and he's got the thing upright and proceeds to the next step - sitting down for a smoke while he works on the decorations.

Since funds are tight, though, Michael has to get creative. Those empty bottles turn out to be makeshift ornaments, along with bows of ratty red ribbon. A roll of cellophane makes for a questionable approximation for garland. At least he managed to dig up a strand of multicolored lights somewhere.

Merry christmas, Bloodsport, such as it is.[

Okay, okay. Hey.

[The first thing she does with the communicator after learning its functions is go through the network archive. She doesn't read everything exactly, but the fact that she hits the end of it relatively quickly is both a good and bad thing. It's less to sort through, sure, but it also means it's less to know and that means she's at the relative start of something, with no telling of when it'll end. As much as she tries to keep it buried there's a sort of weariness about her, for a moment.

She was going home. And now she's somewhere else.

But it's not anybody's fault here, she won't take it out on them, and so she tries to smile, instead. It's small, but it's there, but the rest of her is tightly-wound. She sits primly, her hands folded in front of her (how is it that she's not holding her communicator?), but it's stiff. It's not something that would be out of place, formalities aren't exactly loose, but it's too rigid for her. There's not an elephant in the room, so much as dagger tips on all sides, and if she even breathes incorrectly, she'll regret everything.

She does not want to be here.]

Hello, everyone. My name is Flora, it's nice to meet you all. [Even if she wishes it were under better circumstances. Like not being kidnapped again.]

I must admit, this is not where I expected to be. [Perhaps the greatest understatement of all time(lines).] But since I'm here...I wonder if anyone's heard of Exsilium. [She really hopes none of the Dan, her other friends, or anyone's here. They've all been through enough.]

For those of you who've been here a while, do we ever go anywhere? [Her fingers tighten for just a moment, but her voice is calm and even, unwavering.] Other planets, I mean. And, would anyone mind indulging me some conversation? We can talk about anything you like, but I would like to talk about magic for a start, please, and if you're at all familiar with it.

[She could use the distraction, but she is also a very curious creature by nature hahaha.]

One other thing, please, if you don't mind: Does anyone know where they're keeping our belongings? Among other things, I had a lot of plants on me at the time, and some of them are--[she rubs an arm sheepishly, and frowns slightly. How to put this delicately.] ah...a little wild. I'm worried about them.

Thank you.

When: December 6th

[He's not particularly hiding whose posting, nor does he want to advertise either. So, sometime during the day, a text post will appear on the network. ]

Anyone got any suggestions for ways to entertain yourself? Because I have way too much spare time right now and I'm sick of watching that shopping thing.

Extra points if it's something you can do alone. Offers for intercourse will only be taken up on for a charge.
[After meeting half you people? He's not giving it out for free]

Also suggestions for ways to prepare Tallbird or places I can find yarn would get my thanks.

[He shuts off the text feed. If you are on the Wonderduck, he can be found on the bridge sitting in his pilot seat. He seems to have taken to holding onto a ostrich bobble head and flicking the head occasionally with his fingers to see what happens. Goddess he's so bored.]

When: Today -> until the plague is cured?

[After centuries of existence, having seen atrocities and having battled devils, including Satan himself, Michael has never felt anything quite like this.

Namely, being totally, utterly, helplessly sick. And much like many of the not-entirely mortal on the fleet, the angel has absolutely no idea how to deal with this admittedly novel experience. As the plague worsened, he's given up his usual cheerful attitude and any pretense of functioning.

Probably much to the chagrin of his healthier crewmates.

For now the miserable angel can be found slumped facedown over the arm of his couch, moaning dramatically into the upholstery. He'll be sure to moan extra loud if someone not sick happens to pass by.

[It's been nearly a week since the fleet's said their goodbyes to the planet full of skull face folks, and another Shuffle has come and gone. Despite what was mentioned on the last week's Shuffle about cannibalism, it doesn't seem like any crews has resorted to that, so maybe some of you have begun to relax.]

[Or maybe not. In fact, maybe you should do a crew headcount just in case
1.]

[By now, some of you who handled any red stones from the planet natives may be feeling under the weather or even downright shitty. But hey! What's that to stop you from visiting the way-stations? These way-stations may be in the same crappy condition as the last way-stations - but at least they're people on these ones! Really...shady looking people! But that's not about to stop you from making friends right
2?]

[Essentially, this is a game wide mingle post for this week's shuffle, November's way-stations anyone getting ill, or anything else you want to do but too lazy to make a post about! Please feel free to tag in and tag around! Just make sure to put your characters' location and communication methods (action/network) in the header and/or in the prompts!]

1. - This recommendation goes double for the SS Blue Fish.
2. - Warning: Attempts to make friends with extremely shady characters on the Way-Stations may result in heartwarming musical numbers, or much, much more likely - being kidnapped. Please use your own discretion.

I wish they'd put some movies on this thing or something. It wouldn't have been hard. I'm pretty sure movies are in my list of top ten modern world things. Chocolate and hot running water are on the list too. Concidentally neither of those things are around here either. Maybe it's not a place for modern technology after all??

[That's a joke, yeah.]

Also on my wishlist: they could put a chess game on here or something. We could be playing Mahjong. That would be so easy. I guess we're meant to be here driving each other crazy instead.

Anyway top ten five modern inventions:
1. movies
2. medicinal things I guess
3. chocolate. I don't know if it's modern but I never had it at home.
4. Hot running water.
5. Newspapers.

[ The feed starts off as video first, before switching through the various modes of voice, text, and quickly skimming through the archives. Sooner or later, he flips it back to video. Figuring it'd be best to switch and leave the mode as is, the last thing he wanted was to be accused of poking through things he wasn't supposed to. ]

The feed seems to play on other stations like this one. Saves in the archives as it runs, too. Think our boss has something to do with this?

[ Sliding off his old guard mask, he tilts his head towards someone off screen. Though their voice is caught easily enough. ]

Hard to say. Someone obviously is responsible for this. [ Her voice is strained and ends on a huff, while she zips the suit up as high as it can go, giving it an extra tug even though it is at its limits. ] Regardless, we should stay on our toes.

Well, I don't think we're gonna start connecting the dots on our own anytime soon. So might as well ask... [ At least there seemed to be somewhat helpful replies on the announcements he'd sifted through. With that, he crosses his arms and after a minute or so of shifting and leaning on the edge of the desk; he asks: ] Anyone out there mind filling us in on all this?

[ Not questioning why he knows vague ideas of space and space travel all of a sudden, either. ]

( action )
[ To anyone still milling about the Marsiva, two middle aged teenagers are currently standing around the comms station a little after their broadcast. With the beefy looking guy in a pink yukata a few sizes too small and the lady beefcake in a gaudy blue catsuit. They're digging out a bunch of small post-its with a few scrawled on napkins from their pockets or folds, with the former sliding his old fox mask to the side of his head as he goes over their loot pile.

Eventually they move onto the communicators, things they're more familiar with than dealing with patron spirits or bathhouse customers of Koriko. Exchanging their frequency numbers and sending texts to test out the connection. And, occasionally, leaning over each others shoulders to try out a number of different emoticons before simmering down. Although the awful late night TV shows pull their attention from time to time. Interesting. ]

[ Even though his tone drops a bit, his smile doesn't. ]

Ahaha, it's pretty empty here for just me, isn't it? That isn't much fun at all.

Where are you, droot flooters? What are you up to? Stay out of trouble, now.]

[ooc: hi everyone! I thought I'd give this a try and see how the game liked it. What we have here is a mass mingle post. Rather than everyone making a bunch of different posts about landing on the station, everyone is invited to post a parent comment with their character out and about, doing something. Everyone else is invited to look at who's posted, tag them, post their own parent comments, thread jack, tag around and generally have a grand old time! [Sometime during what the ships' clocks claim as Friday morning, a peppy musical jingle rings out through the speakers all over the ship. It is soon followed by a female voice that should be familiar to most by now]

Good morning, dear passengers! I hope you are all doing well and listening closely, because our broadcast serves two very important functions today!

Firstly, this is the Twelfth Cycle's very first Drift Fleet Shuffle! ...For those of you who don't know, the Shuffle occurs every week, and it's where we all say hello to new faces, goodbye to old friends, and find out how the crews have changed!

This week, we are welcoming four new passengers into the flock, so please keep an eye out for any unfamiliar faces being beamed into your cargo holds, and give them a warm welcome. Other than that, it seems that no one has filed to rearrange their crews-- isn't that wonderful? I'm so glad you're all getting along!

There have been changes in rank however, so I would like to heartily congratulate the Twelfth Cycle's first round of captains on obtaining their illustrious new titles!

We applaud you, Captain Rogers, Captain Harvey, Captain Hange, Captain Stark, Captain Crowley, Captain Kouzuki, Captain Cress, Captain Ichimaru, Captain Redbreast, and Captain... [a bit of a pause] ...Stampede?

[and yes... that might be the sound of applause in the very distant background]

And now, with the Shuffle out of the way, we can move onto what we've all really been waiting for-- the fleet's arrival in our first system! Starting today, the fleet will be moving into range of some outer way-stations, so be sure to visit them to refuel and stretch your legs. The way-stations in this area aren't much to look at, but still good for curing cabin fever, socializing, and doing a little shopping. We will also be coming into range of our first planet, but that won't be until later on in the month... so, don't worry about it now! You'll be hearing more about it later.

For now, just relax and enjoy yourselves! Remember, the worlds are watching!

ooc: feel free to reply here with reactions if you'd like! for details on both the shuffle and the new system, please see the ooc posts. also, head to the ooc post if you have any questions or corrections!

When: Let's say...Oct 9th, afternoon

[The idea has been sitting in Michael's brain since he brought it up to Zoe on the network. He didn't posses her same academic curiosity, but that didn't mean he wasn't a bit fascinated. He'd never seen a spaceship before, but his view of them so far had only been the cramped interior of the Bloodsport and the distance exterior of the mysterious Marsiva. But after a few days, the archangel craved movement.

Time for an adventure.

He heads to the shuttle, opens the hatch, and then turns on his communicator.
]

Hey! I'm gonna take a little tour. Maybe go say hello to our hostess. Last one into the shuttle's a rotten egg.

[And with that, he shuts it off with a manic grin. That's all the warning you're gonna get, crewmates.

No worries, though. Once he peeks his head into the craft he realizes quickly that a normally oriented chair presents some logistical issues for an angel. After a minute of frowning, he sighs and twitches off the trenchcoat that normally covers his wings.

Anyone who arrives will find probably find him like that, attempting to arrange said appendages so he can sit in the pilot seat. Mind the feathers.

[Everything is quite dark as the passengers regain consciousness, with little lights and panels on the walls just now beginning to wink to life. It seems as though everyone and their new homes are rising from slumber together. Even the air is sleepy, and it tastes stale--it must have been a long time since it's been anywhere other than recycled endlessly through this space.

And for a few minutes, the only sounds that aren't coming from the passengers themselves is the omnipresent hum of electrical and mechanical parts surrounding them on every side, and the occasional scratch of vermin-feet in the walls. Then, regardless of where each passenger wakes in their ship, a short musical tune and an exuberant female voice crackles to life over speaker panels in every room.]

--Good morning, honored passengers! My name is Diamond, and on behalf of Atroma and our entire audience, congratulations on being selected to participate in the twelfth cycle of Drift Fleet! We are all eager to get to know you, and I just know you must all be eager to get started, so let's get right to it!

[And with that, whoever happens to be on the bridge of their ship at the time will be treated to watching the solid panels slide away from the windows, revealing infinite black and uncountable stars... and whether or not they've ever been capable of comprehending the concept before, they immediately recognize outer space.]

In a few minutes, the HS Marsiva will come into view through the windows to my left. Please familiarize yourself with her presence.

For more information on your new roles, and of the Drift Fleet itself, please refer to the helpful information files already uploaded to the network. And from here on out, it shall be up to you to refer new cremates to these information files and to make sure that their stays on your crews are pleasant and rewarding!

...Also--speaking of your new responsibilities as crewmembers--I expect captain forms to be filled out and submitted by the end of the week.

[The smile practically drips from her voice at that last point, and there's a little pause before she continues]

And finally-- we won't be approaching our first system for a few days yet, so you are all encouraged to get to know each other and enjoy the ride in the meantime.

Welcome to Drift Fleet, and remember... the worlds are watching!

[and the voice cuts out, but the lines are still open. the network is live and listening.]
