01 ❀ video
Who: Flora
Broadcast: Fleet-wide Video
Action: Marsiva Only
When: Dec 10th
[The first thing she does with the communicator after learning its functions is go through the network archive. She doesn't read everything exactly, but the fact that she hits the end of it relatively quickly is both a good and bad thing. It's less to sort through, sure, but it also means it's less to know and that means she's at the relative start of something, with no telling of when it'll end. As much as she tries to keep it buried there's a sort of weariness about her, for a moment.
She was going home. And now she's somewhere else.
But it's not anybody's fault here, she won't take it out on them, and so she tries to smile, instead. It's small, but it's there, but the rest of her is tightly-wound. She sits primly, her hands folded in front of her (how is it that she's not holding her communicator?), but it's stiff. It's not something that would be out of place, formalities aren't exactly loose, but it's too rigid for her. There's not an elephant in the room, so much as dagger tips on all sides, and if she even breathes incorrectly, she'll regret everything.
She does not want to be here.]
Hello, everyone. My name is Flora, it's nice to meet you all. [Even if she wishes it were under better circumstances. Like not being kidnapped again.]
I must admit, this is not where I expected to be. [Perhaps the greatest understatement of all time(lines).] But since I'm here...I wonder if anyone's heard of Exsilium. [She really hopes none of the Dan, her other friends, or anyone's here. They've all been through enough.]
For those of you who've been here a while, do we ever go anywhere? [Her fingers tighten for just a moment, but her voice is calm and even, unwavering.] Other planets, I mean. And, would anyone mind indulging me some conversation? We can talk about anything you like, but I would like to talk about magic for a start, please, and if you're at all familiar with it.
[She could use the distraction, but she is also a very curious creature by naturehahaha.]
One other thing, please, if you don't mind: Does anyone know where they're keeping our belongings? Among other things, I had a lot of plants on me at the time, and some of them are--[she rubs an arm sheepishly, and frowns slightly. How to put this delicately.] ah...a little wild. I'm worried about them.
Thank you.

[It was a struggle not to fall to pieces from the moment she first woke up to sterile ceilings and scents, different though they were, they were still far too familiar for comfort. But those memories she could bear. Ambient technological sounds and her own footsteps were her only company as she stalked through the halls, but when she saw a viewing portal into that endless infinite nothing, that was it. The scene changed, and Flora stood, rooted and transfixed, before the memory of something vile and alive were on her tongue and she only just made it in time to the bathroom to be sick.
She managed not to make a mess, but she felt revolting, and showered until the water ran freezing, all the while wondering why. Why here, why here of all places, why why why.
--
Time passes and she doesn't find anything or anyone. She makes sure she understands her communicator correctly, but doesn't trust herself to speak to anyone at the moment.
She doesn't see about food.
While she doesn't have everything she had on her at the time, she does have some nail polish and a little bottle of acetone and cotton swabs, and so she finds a place, well away from the viewing bay and with her back facing it besides, and carefully attends to her hands. The smell of both are strong, and she relishes it. It keeps everything else at bay.]

But all my work--my projects, my plants! I had a lot of really important things, too, but a lot of my plants really need to be fed!
no subject
Don't you just leave plants out and rain and sunshine does all the rest? Why would you need to feed them?
no subject
Well, they could make their own food, but uh, some of them were...carnivorous, too.
no subject
They didn't eat people did they?
[Just going to leap headfirst to that conclusion.]
no subject
No way! I specifically created them so they wouldn't eat a lot of types of people, but I can't account for everything. [A beat.] But there are many plants that would be more than happy to make a meal of you so you should be careful of those.
no subject
And people wonder why I don't like plants.
no subject
You're not someone who dislikes eating their vegetables, are you? Plants are good for you.
[If she sounds a bit motherly saying that, it's because she is.]
no subject
[There are those wonderful people skills in action again.]
I grew up in the South Pole. Meat is food, vegetables are good if you can get the, but not important.
no subject
[Hearing where he grew up has her dialing back the motherly tone. It's not hard at all to understand those circumstances.]
Oh, that makes sense. I'm going to guess there wasn't much arable land where you were, then. Is that were you were before being brought here?
no subject
There's pretty none of it, but we got by. [He lets out a sigh.] No. I haven't seen home for... a long time.
no subject
[Flora winces slightly, her voice apologetic.] I'm sorry. I'm guessing you've been stuck somewhere too, huh.
no subject
More...moving. A lot. We're trying to win a war.
no subject
Ah, I see, it was like that for me too, actually. [She hesitates for a moment.] Did you want to talk about it at all?
no subject
Yeah? How are you doing? You winning?
I guess? I mean, I don't mind talking about it. What do you want to know about it?
