[Hello, Fleet, there's a fearsome-looking suit of armor peering at the screen- though right now only one of his eyes is visible.]

So this is like a telephone or a radio, right? Except there are pictures and words on it, too! I really like it!

I'm Alphonse. Uh, don't mind how I look- I wear armor for protection. [Al wasn't under any delusions that he'd be able to keep the fact that he was hollow inside a secret for very long- he never seemed to be able to- but he was going to try.]

Brother, are you here, too? Major Miles? ... Winry?

[Action, on the Marsiva]

[There wasn't much Al could to do make himself look less conspicuous- he'd accepted that long ago- but here, in this unfamiliar place, he wished more than ever that he could. The Homunculi had eyes and ears everywhere in Amestris, and he had to be working under the assumption that they were here, too. He could only hope that they wouldn't be putting any innocent people in danger trying to find him.

He was also worried about Edward. He knew his brother would be fine in the storm, watched over by Major Miles, but what would happen to him afterward? And what about Winry, May, and Dr. Marcoh? He could care less about Scar, but he'd gone out to try and warn them that Briggs was unsafe, and now there was nobody to deliver that message.

Of course, if he kept blacking out... if this was it, if his soul was going to let go of his armor body... he might not have been able to get to them himself anyway.

Al let out a sigh. At least the view was pretty. Stars were everywhere.]

So are you some kind of knight or something, back home? Not to be rude, but you sound awfully... young for a job like that.

My country is a military dictatorship and there are a lot of skirmishes. I'm not in the military, but my brother is, and since I travel with him, I figure it's better safe than sorry, right?

[That... isn't what he was expecting to hear. He gives a low whistle.]

Military dictatorship? That sounds pretty harsh. I'm a big believer in better safe than sorry, myself, so I say good for you. Can't be too careful, really.

That must make it a little cumbersome to walk around, though, doesn't it? [He actually looks genuinely curious.] I mean, I've never worn armor, myself, besides the stuff I made out of cardboard boxes when I was like seven.

Yeah, we've seen a lot of war even in my lifetime. When I was little, a neighbouring country called Ishbal rebelled, and we're still feeling the aftereffects of that.

I'm used to it by now! I'm pretty tall, so it's not as bad as it could be.

Oof, that sucks. My hometown was pretty peaceful, but I did a lot of traveling for work, so I've seen what war can do to a country. S'pretty scary stuff.

It really is- especially when you're little, and the only thing you can grasp is that people are shooting each other. Granny and Winry- they're dear friends of mine- make automail for people who have lost limbs, and Winry's mom and dad were doctors who died in Ishbal, so I've always been touched by war in some way. [Then, remembering the different worlds thing-] Automail is prosthetic limbs. They're mechanical and work almost as well as the real thing.
