ii ; video & action
Who: Octavia Blake & Open
Broadcast: Everyone
Action: Moon or Wonderduck
When: Broadcast, evening of Oct 16; Action, whenever
[The feed that pops up is originating from a basic (and boring) room above one of the old timey buildings on the moon. Octavia's lounging on the cot, tossing a baseball sized object up into the air, then catching it, not really looking at the comm.]
I gotta admit that the past two weeks-- or however long since I got here-- have been pretty damn long. Back home, there was so much more to do. [The ball goes up in the air.] Not in the entertaining way [And down again.] but stuff we had to get done. Hunting, scouting, building, repairing, you get the idea. It was one thing after another, the days went by in a flash.
[She catches the ball again and sticks it on the small side table by her cot, sitting up at the same time.] Pretty much, doing stuff for fun wasn't on the agenda, so I'm kinda at a loss here.
[Octavia huffs, blowing a bit of hair out of her face, before finally looking at the comm.]
I guess suggestions are welcomed if anyone wants to toss one my way. [Her boots tap the floor for a moment.] Also, I want to keep learning combat. So far, I've gotten decent with a sword, but I don't want to stop. Unarmed is good, too. Honestly, whatever's fine. I can take a beating, and I'm a quick enough study. I can't pay right now, that'd be later, unless favors or chores work, too.
[There's a pause, where she considers something.] My name's Octavia Blake. I'm security on the Wonderduck. You can find me there or on the moon for now if you want. That's it I guess.
[She flashes a sheepish grin before cutting the broadcast. Feel free to run into her on the ship or moon, whenever.]

Well that's a relief.

Actually, try it.

Food is just-- food! It's. You put it in your mouth. And chew it. For energy! And it tastes good.

[She's already trying not to laugh.]

[Ahsoka you're like barely seventeen. Shut up.]

I wouldn't say that. You tried at least!

I guess I'm just finding it a little difficult to relax. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

... I guess that means you're right, though. I should ... meditate on it, or something.
no subject
Meditate? Does that actually help stuff?

And it depends on what you want help with. It isn't going to get your homework done for you. But ... as much as I don't enjoy it, I have to admit, it does help with other things. Seeing the best course of action to take, for example. Calming your emotions. Keeping your head clear in a fight. That kind of thing.

Despite that, the advantages do sound appealing.]
Do you think it's something you'd be able to teach?

Would you mind? [Teaching her.]

Not at all. Thanks, I owe you.

I gotta ask, what do you have?

The top part [she motions with one hand to the pointy bits] are called montrals. Similar to what you would think of as horns, but they're hollow. They can sense vibrations in the air around us, which helps us to "see" things in the surrounding area even when there isn't any light or sound.
The tail parts are actually called lekku. That's plural, by the way-- singular, lek. The patterning is an old evolution throwback that used to help my people to blend in to our environment thousands of years ago.
