Who: Octavia Blake & Open
Broadcast: Everyone
Action: Moon or Wonderduck
When: Broadcast, evening of Oct 16; Action, whenever
[The feed that pops up is originating from a basic (and boring) room above one of the old timey buildings on the moon. Octavia's lounging on the cot, tossing a baseball sized object up into the air, then catching it, not really looking at the comm.]
I gotta admit that the past two weeks-- or however long since I got here-- have been pretty damn long. Back home, there was so much more to do. [The ball goes up in the air.] Not in the entertaining way [And down again.] but stuff we had to get done. Hunting, scouting, building, repairing, you get the idea. It was one thing after another, the days went by in a flash.
[She catches the ball again and sticks it on the small side table by her cot, sitting up at the same time.] Pretty much, doing stuff for fun wasn't on the agenda, so I'm kinda at a loss here.
[Octavia huffs, blowing a bit of hair out of her face, before finally looking at the comm.]
I guess suggestions are welcomed if anyone wants to toss one my way. [Her boots tap the floor for a moment.] Also, I want to keep learning combat. So far, I've gotten decent with a sword, but I don't want to stop. Unarmed is good, too. Honestly, whatever's fine. I can take a beating, and I'm a quick enough study. I can't pay right now, that'd be later, unless favors or chores work, too.
[There's a pause, where she considers something.] My name's Octavia Blake. I'm security on the Wonderduck. You can find me there or on the moon for now if you want. That's it I guess.
[She flashes a sheepish grin before cutting the broadcast. Feel free to run into her on the ship or moon, whenever.]

Depends on what kind of fun you're looking for. I get off in about ten minutes, if you're up for card games. Or word games. I know way too many of those for my own good - or uh, basketball? But that's way more fun with more people.
[Makeshift basketball, anyhow - this planet wasn't exactly built for the sports he knows and loves.]
video
Which saloon are you at? I'll meet you there. You'll have to bring the cards.

[How he's going to get it, though, is up for debate.]

Why the interest in combat? Out of curiosity.

There was a lot more to focus on back home, so it's pretty weird here. [Octavia just shrugs.] I was learning back home, and I don't want to stop now. Plus, I'm security, so it makes sense.

... That's fair enough.
I don't know that I'm qualified to teach, but if you want someone to practice hand-to-hand or your sword skills with, I'd be happy to do that once I manage to get off the Marsiva.

As far as entertainment goes ... what d'you say we gather up some folks and have a good honest game of poker?
video
[More interest, good going, dude!] I've never played.
video
And don't worry, I can teach ya. It's a good way to spend some time with friends and, you know, get a little extra glimmer in the bank while you're at it. [Or, you know, lose a little extra glimmer. It went both ways.]

Who would I even look for, anyway, Mister Faceless Voice?

I'd say "guy with the metal arm" but there's more'n one of us. I'm the only one usually there, anyway.

I have acquired a sword, if you still wish to have one.
Video
You what? [Octavia stops to gather her composure.] That's awesome, yes! [Another pause.] I mean, yes, but why? Er... how?
[Wow, she's failing at being coherent. Good work, Fenris.]

[He says it as if it isn't a big deal. To him, it isn't. Gal needs a sword, he will get a sword. Swords are important. ]

And if you have nothing against magic, I have a blade I've been forgetting to test in someone else's hands.
[ That didn't come out right... He thinks. Sorry, he got thinking too hard on other things. ]
... I can explain if you aren't bothered by magic. Would probably just be a waste of both our time if I did and you didn't want to touch it.
Video
Okay, explain. I'll give you an answer when you're finished.
Video
I made a spell that ... makes a physical shape of a sword. It's temporary, but would work in a situation where any normal blades have been... lost. [ Or taken by the things that steal people from where they were. ]
I have tested it - it's sharp, it keeps its shape and edge, its a little lighter than one would expect, it lasts a rough half an hour after I stop fueling it. I haven't handed it off to anyone else to make sure the results are the same. I would still be fueling the initial creation, but it wouldn't require magic after that.

[He crosses his arms and smirks teasingly.]
You know, I know a thing or two about hand-to-hand combat. I know that it must sound disarming...
It makes about as much sense as anything else about you, so what the hell.
