[he opens up a video feed and adjusts it so that everyone can see... well... something like this going on where he's cleared space in the engine room. it's metal pipes rather than sharp swords, but the thought is still there... the camera moves and Robin's dumb face shows up, grinning--]

Okay, okay. Hey.

You, me. Robot arms that fight each other.

I'll open bets and the rest of my booze. Come on, who's in?

They're robot arms! We made 'em so that they fight each other!

[ CAN YOU FEEL THE EXCITEMENT ]

[YES HE CAN AND IT'S CONTAGIOUS]

Just the arms? ...You can do that??

Yup!

They can do other stuff too, like picking things up, as long as you have one of these. [ and he holds up the controller for the left arm (since Robin has the right one) to the camera so that Nel can see. ]

[he leans closer to the screen, like that will actually help him see better]

Whoa! Is that how you make it move?

Yeah! That or you can use the computer to have it move in a way you want. It's-- Agh, hold on.

[ and this is the part where the camera jiggles a lot before it stills with Lloyd walking away from it. ]

Can you see it? [ himself and the arms, he means ]

Yeah!

[even though he doesn't actually give any thought to what exactly he's supposed to be seeing.]

Cool! Now watch this!

[ he holds the controller up so that Nel can get a good view of it, and then he starts to move the joysticks on it. the arm moves accordingly, spinning a couple of times and even having it drop the pipe and pick it back up.

he pauses to look back to the camera with a wide grin. ISN'T THAT AWESOME IT'S SO AWESOME RIGHT? ]

[he watches with wide eyes and a quiet face for a minute, but it turns out he's just so absorbed in what he's seeing that he doesn't have attention to spare on looking excited.

not until Lloyd pauses in what he's doing and is obviously looking for a response. that's when Nel breaks out into a giant grin.]

--Whoa!! That's so scary!

Isn't it?! It's so much cooler in person, and Robin has the other controller so you can actually have them fight each other!

You really make them fight?

Like... to the death??

Nah, not to the death.

They have these... [ what's the word ] "sensor"-things all over them so that if it ends up being hit, they'll stop fighting.

Ohh...

[he almost gets it.]

So, sensors kind of like... targets?

Exactly! You hit the target on the one you're fighting against to get a point!

Whoa! That's so smart!

...Where did you guys learn how to make stuff like that?

No idea! Guess it was just natural talent.

[ he mostly followed what Robin told him to do, but it was still a miracle that he knew enough to follow along and then some. ]
