[At least two weeks have passed since the Drift Fleet passengers woke up on this strange wing of the Marsiva... Some new passengers have even joined the group instead of being Shuffled off to a fleet ship! The large monitor in the central room remains quiet for now, so how is everyone holding up?

Have you been relaxing? Enjoying the Earth media? If you can even remember them, how have Calibrations been treating you? Has anyone started getting a little stir-crazy?

Don't worry... This ship has no shortage of mysteries, and you'll be seeing a few more soon.]

As much as I can, anyway. No idea if any of this'll be available when we get back.

[She glances back to the pages, quickly finishing her section before closing it.] You find anything good?

I don't really read much...

Neither do I. [That just goes to show.]

It's a lot better than pacing the halls like I've been tempted to do.

Tried asking anyone to teach you anything? Now's a pretty good time for that. [Octavia reaches over and pulls another book from a pile.]

Or you can read up on [pause] the migrating habits of the ostrowiec wattle pigeon.

[ that actually makes her laugh ]

I'll get right on that one.

I should learn something new. I don't know. I've been thinking about asking people about what nature is like where they're from.

[grounds]

First day on Earth, and some of us saw a two headed deer. That's a pretty good summary of my experience I think.

[Octavia leans back, dropping the book in Katniss' lap.]

[ and oof. thanks octavia. picks the book up skeptically ]

Radiation. I told you Earth was nuked, remember?

[There's a grin.] Let me know if you learn anything interesting.

I just thought that killed everything.

Things evolve I guess. People were still down there, and so were animals. Some just... weirder than before.

[takeabow]

…Huh.

[ her mind wanders... thinking about how that's applicable to her life ]

[And Octavia goes back to reading. She'll let her friend ruminate on life.]

So it is possible for things to survive.

Overall, yeah, it looks like it is. They might not be the same or even as good as before, but they're still there. How you deal with it is really what you're facing.

[takeabow]

Yeah...

One of the Districts got destroyed by nuclear attack. From the government.

[grounds]

[Octavia snorts.] Yeah, this was like that-- only a lot more global. There could still be people out there, if they hid well enough.

...Huh.

I'm sorry that happened to your world.

[grounds]

Yeah, I guess. [She shrugs, half heartedly.]

I wasn't around then, so I guess it's not as big a deal to me, especially when compared to the others.

[takeabow]

Others?

[grounds]

The other people on the Ark. They actually got to see Earth for most of their life before arriving there. Lived under the floor, remember?

[takeabow]

Of course I remember. You won't let me forget. I just didn't know if there were people on Earth, too, or just freaky deer.

[grounds]

Uncool. [She's referring to the not letting her forget bit, but her tone is pretty much one of nonchalance.]
