[ james potter now has access to a wand.

whether or not he asked for remus' wand, it is not known. the answer is probably not, but look, remus is a very forgiving individual, and while atroma apparently did not trust james with his own wand (rude), his much more responsible werewolf friend has his. and as remus is so kind, surely he wouldn't mind if james borrowed it for a moment or two.

which means --

if you are wandering about the ship, in random hallways, near rooms -- it is snowing. there is no rhyme or reason, but mysteriously, james seems to be present in the affected areas, his hands in his pockets, looking astonishingly calm for such freak weather occurrences. and once he leaves, the snow seems to leave with him, as if it were never there.

also, he might have left a snowman in front of your door, if he particularly likes you. it may also look exactly like you, with a few exaggerated features. and a mandatory hat.

it may also shriek NOOOOOOOOOO when you attempt to knock it over or move it out of the way. alternatively, the snowmen may follow you, but whenever you look at them, they stop moving and look awfully shifty.

weird, right.

after about an hour of this nonsense, james sends out a text message: ]

Where's my wand, Jamie?

[He isn't all that annoyed. He was a little, when he woke up and his wand was gone, but after the panic had subsided (and the snowmen had appeared), it was all right. It's an amusing enough prank, and all the cleverer because he hadn't used his wand.]

[Allen steps out his doorway in the morning, and while there is no snowman at this door- he does notice the snow in the hallway, and the numerous snowmen down the hall. And this surprise he takes...extremely calmly!]

Ah. Magic Snow.

[He'll step back in to grab the jacket Atroma had let him bring, and then he'll step back out, close his door and head down the hall to get some food y e p.]

is a disappointing reaction, and james is almost affronted ]

Get magical snow often?

[ he calls out down the hall, arching his eyebrows ]

[Beverly, for one, is delighted with the snow, especially as it doesn't appear to be ship wide or causing any malfunctions. Though she does wonder for a minute if it is something to do with the environmental controls, until she sees the snow centering around this one young man. Hmm. Maybe he is like Anders? (Can Anders actually make it snow? She doesn't know. Either way, magic doesn't throw her as it would have when she first arrived).

Grinning, she approaches the young man.]

Did you do all this?

[ james considers feigning innocence, but look, she looks happy, and that's truly the goal, now, isn't it?

so james removes his wand from his pocket and flicks it neatly, a tiny cloud appearing to sprinkle snow on the ground ]

Guilty as charged.

[ but !! ]

It's entirely harmless, and I'll clean it up once I'm done. Honest.

SNOWBALL FIIIIIIGHT

[Well. This is... new. And cold. Alex gives a little hum of acknowledgement, pulling the sleeves of her sweater down over her hands. Just another day living in the clutches of an anonymous supernatural force.

... Not that she isn't going to have some fun with it. Pulling her wand from her boot, she mutters a spell. The snow intensifies, falling in a larger radius up and down the hallway, and piling more heavily on the metal floors. Magicking up a parka and some mittens, Alex grins. Now this is a little more suited to a snowball fight.

Be wary walking down the halls this morning. You might just get hit by a handful of snow, hurled out of seemingly nowhere.]

SORRY REMUS YOU'RE NOT GETTING YOUR WAND BACK UNTIL VICTORY IS NIGH

there is a slight moment of stunned silence, because james potter, hit with a snowball? and after quickly removing his glasses and shaking the snow out of his hair, he cleans them with a quick tap of remus' wand and immediately flicks his wrist.

james, the clever wizard that he is, could normally do this without a word. but as it's not his wand -- ]

Wingardium Leviosa!

[a dozen chunks of snow levitate -- and james rolls them neatly into balls with a roll of his wrist. and so they hang there. menacingly. ]

Come along, Miss Alex.

[ taunting. he knows it's you, you little shit. ]

[ While snow is most definitely familiar and welcome, Winter is not sure how he feels about the snowmen. They look like some of the people he's seen on the Marsiva, but there's a weird feeling about them. He's a little paranoid that he's being followed, though no one else is behind him. Just the snowmen, but that's ridiculous.

The snow isn't localized, but it's indoors only in certain areas. Awfully suspicious that James happens to be in the same area, too. Unfortunately, he's also seen weirder things happen. ]

It's been a while since I've seen snow.

A shame, isn't it?

[ mildly. totally innocent. 100%. ]

I'm a bigger fan of spring, but winter has its moments.

[After spending a good few minutes being followed by a snowman, Nightingale just turns around and lifts a hand, and the snowman is consumed in a pillar of fire.]

Snow monsters. Seriously? What the hell.

[ and, just like that (after much shrieking, of course), the watery mess is reformed into a snowman, who looks positively disappointed in nightingale's actions.

james is down the hall casually examining a loose thread in his sleeve. ]

[ Nova steps out of her room into the snow, and actually cracks a smile, talking mostly to herself ]

Of all the weird things, this is one I can kind of get behind.

[ don't mind him he's just casually building snow castles with waves of remus' wand ]

[ from down the hall, curiously. and totally not at fault for this, obviously. ]

[Snow, eh? Al can definitely work with that. When he sees snow in the hallway outside his bedroom door, he smiles and claps his hands. As blue energy sparks between them, Al touches his hands to the floor, and a snow sculpture appears.]

james catches the tail-end of it and immediately stops his own shenanigans, eyes bright. ]

How'd you do that, mate?

[ wandless magic?? with hands???? ]

[Cheese was just minding his own business when suddenly there was snow. He glances around him, before setting to making himself a little snow fort. Because why the hay not?]

You know, I figured it was getting on to inexplicable magic snow time.

[He's talking to the rubber chicken again. The rubber chicken who has a tiny beanie on its head. How? When??? WHO KNOWS. It sits on top of the haphazard creation as the pony adds layer upon careful layer with his hooves. ]

Before you know it, there'll be Hearthswarming decorations up. We'd better get prepared for that, mi amigo.

[ ... is the pony talking to a rubber chicken.

james watches this scene for a moment or two before inching his way over, arching his eyebrows slowly as the conversation continues. ]

[Well, that sure is an almost perfect replica of him outside his door. Stefan squints at it, then at its hair and lets out a pretty loud groan. So loud that even the snowman flinches as Stefan steps outside (fully dressed for the day, of course)]

My hair does NOT look like that!

[Priorities. He lets out another huff, half-tempted to just reach out and fix snow!Stefan's hair and oh.

Oh, he should've guessed that even snow him would flinch from that.]

[Before he can make much note of the snowman's movement, a snowball comes sailing towards him from down the hall. The snow seems to be falling more heavily in that direction, and under the slight howl of wind he can hear a familiar voice humming... "Winter Wonderland"?

Just her sweet way of saying hello to her favorite person.]

doubled over laughing down the hall he can't even pretend that it's not funny or that he is not responsible ]

[He hasn't noticed any snowmen, but the random fits of indoor weather had certainly caught his attention, despite his efforts remain largely unobtrusive in the Marsiva in the wake of the calibrations.

He can't be sure if it's yet more of Atroma's malfunctions or interference from the crew and he's doing a fairly good job of sitting in the common area and ignoring it until that message pops up]

Don't make promises you can't keep.

[He hates text, even if it means he has to sit here and talk to thin air]

[ sansa stark is utterly charmed by the sudden snow. charmed. in fact, james might find this particular member of the fleet caught in a bit of snowfall with her chin tilted up and her cheeks bared to the bizarre weather phenomenon.

and when he passes through, and the snow leaves with him? well, by the seven, she follows. at first she's only following the snow; she doesn't yet realize she's following him. ]
