whether or not he asked for remus' wand, it is not known. the answer is probably not, but look, remus is a very forgiving individual, and while atroma apparently did not trust james with his own wand (rude), his much more responsible werewolf friend has his. and as remus is so kind, surely he wouldn't mind if james borrowed it for a moment or two.

which means --

if you are wandering about the ship, in random hallways, near rooms -- it is snowing. there is no rhyme or reason, but mysteriously, james seems to be present in the affected areas, his hands in his pockets, looking astonishingly calm for such freak weather occurrences. and once he leaves, the snow seems to leave with him, as if it were never there.

also, he might have left a snowman in front of your door, if he particularly likes you. it may also look exactly like you, with a few exaggerated features. and a mandatory hat.

it may also shriek NOOOOOOOOOO when you attempt to knock it over or move it out of the way. alternatively, the snowmen may follow you, but whenever you look at them, they stop moving and look awfully shifty.

weird, right.

after about an hour of this nonsense, james sends out a text message: ]

[Cheese was just minding his own business when suddenly there was snow. He glances around him, before setting to making himself a little snow fort. Because why the hay not?]

You know, I figured it was getting on to inexplicable magic snow time.

[He's talking to the rubber chicken again. The rubber chicken who has a tiny beanie on its head. How? When??? WHO KNOWS. It sits on top of the haphazard creation as the pony adds layer upon careful layer with his hooves. ]

Before you know it, there'll be Hearthswarming decorations up. We'd better get prepared for that, mi amigo.

[ ... is the pony talking to a rubber chicken.

james watches this scene for a moment or two before inching his way over, arching his eyebrows slowly as the conversation continues. ]

It's our winter holiday. We have it every year to celebrate out nation being formed.

[He pauses and pulls a face.] Our decorations are a little like that Earth one. With the tree?

Ours is celebrated for a different purpose, but -- we've got a tree, yeah.

[Nope, the pony has no interest in hurting anypony in his insanity. They're cool.]

It's about some important kid being born, right?

[Those are the basics he picked up. Some human kid gets born, everypony gets super excited about it.]

Anyhoo, we have trees and wreaths and big feasts to celebrate it, amongst other things. It's super important to us.

Well, depending on your tradition, I suppose.

We've definitely got trees and wreaths and feasts, though.

Oh yeah, traditions change between families and stuff all the time. I doubt any two families celebrate any holiday exactly the same. That's what makes it exciting, I think.

[He nods, excitedly. ]

Yeah! We have these little dolls, made to look like members of the family, and we hang them together on the hearth. That's different. I...think?
