[The broadcast begins before he's really awake.

He is a scruffy man of difficult to determine age, wearing black pants, a white (ish) shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a black tie that seems redundant since it's loose and his shirt isn't buttoned to the collar anyway.

He comes awake with a deep inhale and eyes flying open, flicking around him. They're perfectly normal brown eyes that lock onto the communicator fast.

Rolling from the bed, he vanishes from view. There's some muttered cursing, sneezing and then the click of a lighter.

When he comes back into view, the cigarette is tucked into his mouth with ages old familiarity.]

I better be able to fucking get more cigarettes on this tin can.

[ Elize notices Bigby when she makes her way to the living area. Honestly, she was hoping not to run into him. That's hard when they're all on the Marsiva. She heard him over the communicator earlier and already, she thinks he's intimidating. ]

Um...

[ Don't stare, don't stare. Okay, she's going to stare. But if he looks her way, she'll quickly look down at the floor. ]

[He's not smoking now. He finished his cigarette and decided to hang onto the rest until he knows he can get more in this weirdass place.

He's busy glowering at the world as he moves slowly through the ship, but his expression softens when he sees Elize. He's not a monster, he doesn't actually aim to scare children ~~anymore~~.]

Hey, kid. You know where a guy can get food and smokes?

Yeah, keep thinkin' that, but while ya at it, might I suggest ya consider makin' ya stash of them last as long as possible. [As a fellow smoker Remy knew the pain all too well, having to ration his own supply firstly down to one a day, then to one every third day, then one a week. Now, now he was struggling through even less than that, planning to save his last one for a special time.

It was not easy, but luckily there was coffee to help take the edge of it, though he wished he had gum to help out with the cravings.]

[Normally, Bigby does a better job at smothering his natural behavior, but he's stressed and unhappy and the sharp movements and gaze are definitely closer to a predator than regular, crazy guy.]

No. I need them if they want me to live in an enclosed space with so many fucking people.

What is a cigarette?

[He stares at the screen for a moment, then plucks the cigarette from his mouth and waves it.]

This. Tobacco and about half a million chemicals rolled in thin paper and burned for inhalation.

[Oddly, it's not condescending. He's literally explaining.]

[Yeah, Remy didn't like that look, it was a little too close to a certain ex-teammate, and he had enough of Sabertooth the last time he worked with him,. He didn't want to be around someone as violent as that man again. But for now he kept civil, no reason to judge Bigby so soon, hell, who wouldn't be grumpy waking up in a place like this the first time around?]

That may be so, but so far I haven't found a source m'self. [Remy pausing to fish out his own carton, holding it open to show only three left inside.] So tell ya what, let me know if ya ever find one so I can restock m'self, it's been a long ride so far 'nd don't look like it gettin' 'ny shorter.

[Sup, Bigby, there's an elf watching this show, arms folded. ]

Atroma aren't prone to give us anything we want aboard the Marsiva. You will be lucky if you find anything like that.

[Maybe less Sabertooth and a bit more Wolverine. There's something slightly wolfish about his movements. But, still, predatory.

That drops when he sees the nearly empty container. He shoves his face in his hands and just seems like a very tired man.]

Fuck. Fucking fuck when I fucking find whoever the fuck is denying me smokes I'm going to rip their fucking arm off and shove it where the sun don't shine.

[It might sound more threatening if he wasn't just mumbling into his hands. He looks back to the screen and huffs slightly.]

Shit. I have twelve. But I've been promised they're the worst fucking cigarettes in the world and you probably don't want one.

[Well, at least elves are vaguely familiar.]

I can't. The smells here will drive me insane.

No one will like it when I'm crazy.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news mon ami, but be tough times 'round here for smokers. Don't even have 'ny chewin' gum 'round the place to help with the cravin's.

[Although, that was an interesting through and a possibly chance to get some.] 'though if 'ny of the sponsors out there be listenin', I be more than happy to promote ya product for a shipment of it, just drop it off at the Wonderduck, when we get out of this current merde that be.

[Remy then refocused on Bigby.] I would normally offer to share, but considerin' they be a rare currency 'round here, goin' to hoard onto mine as long as I can. Been told that now 'nd then we do get a chance to stop off on planets, might be lucky 'nd find a supply at the next port we find, that or ya goin' to have to get 'nventive with what ya wrappin' in ya papers.

If it helps, where ya be now does have coffee, so make the most of that, not all of the ships have it. 'nd got a few of the guys talkin' 'bout openin' up bars, so hopefully alcohol will be back on the menu soon too.

It's not the cravings. I don't get them. It's the smell.

[This place smells. Of too many things, all at once and he hates it. He could get used to it, probably, but it'll be an uncomfortable experience.]

Shit. People here can probably be affected by the smoke, right?

[It's not an issue with Fables. But these are mostly Mundys. And Mundys can get sick.]

Coffee is always good, but not much help for the smells. They got a decent whiskey on board?

[rough around the edges, huh? If Bigby makes his way over to the living area, here's a young lady who seems to be pulling off an aura of elegance, despite the beige jumpsuit she's wearing. Michiru is curled up on one of the couches and appears to be studying a heavy, ornate mirror - but she seems more interested in observing the newcomer.]

Did you find any? [cigarettes, that is]

[Bigby hasn't attempted to neaten himself up at all. But he's not smoking anymore, slinking around with his nose twitching.]

No. Sadly. One guy said he has three left and hasn't had a chance to replenish.

You might get lucky, once they let us leave. The last planet looked like they would have them for sale.

[she doesn't seem at all ruffled, really.]

[Huh, is that so, iiiinnnnnteresting. Remy filed that information away for later on, in case it would be of use in the future, but kept on the path of conversation.] Take it other things don't give do the same job, hein? Not that there really aromatherapy options available either. Might have to consider breathin' through ya mouth 'til ya find something to work in place of the smokes.

[As for the other items.] Donno so much on the drinks side just yet, everything kinda got turned 'round the last month or so. Would say keep an ear 'nd eye open for two guys by the name of Crowley 'nd Varric, they the ones tryin' to corner the drunken market.

[Under the circumstances, Bigby sees only limited use in keeping everything about him under wraps. This whole thing is closer to something from the Homelands than the Mundy world.]

Crowley and Varric, right. Got descriptions to go with the names?

And you got a name?

Sale. Fuck. I haven't had to deal with this shit in a long time.

[When he needed money, he went to Crane and Snow and they gave him cash in hand for his cigarettes. Everything else was basically taken care of.]

They give us something of an allowance, though there does seem to be ways of supplementing our incomes.

[her tone gets a bit deadpan at that. Isn't that nice of their captors?]

[Bigby has always found women a little easier to deal with. And this one reminds him of a woman he's quite fond of. Which is the only reason he's being so nice, don't go thinking he's a nice guy or something.]

Fuck. Fuck and shit and I hate this place. Supplementing, how? Last time I heard that phrase, she was working front desk at a brothel, her husband was running illegal boxes and I ended up with too many dead bodies to deal with.

[well, the cursing and the scruffy looks only seems to be the first layer, judging from that statement.

Michiru taps her chin contemplatively.] I haven't heard of any dead bodies, at least among us.

[the planets are pretty big, so who knows what they get up to]

And I can't vouch for everything people do, but some people were chasing down criminals for the local police. [from the sounds of it. The more underhanded dealings may have been kept quieter.]

I fucking hate rent-a-cops. [He comes to lean against the wall near her, flicking his lighter out and striking it a couple of times.]

What about food?

Food is provided, more or less. The...efficiency of it drives most people to try and stock up when they can.

[nutritious paste isn't exactly food, even if it keeps you fed.] The amenities here on the larger ship surpass what we usually get.

[gilded cages and all]

[Bigby looks more unhappy by the moment.]

I can avoid eating for a while. Until we get some decent food. Or onto a world with large game.

[He could eat up. That works. Right? Shit.]

Fuck. No cigarettes, no booze, no actual food, how the fuck does anyone survive?

[she actually looks a little amused]

Just because the food tastes odd doesn't mean it's not edible. [that's a smile] I'm sure we've all survived worse.

And like I said, the kitchen here is more well-stocked than usual. They were fighting over the alcohol when we first arrived, if I recall correctly.

[there's even real meat in the fridge]
