[On his travels around the ship, Mihawk might run across a small droid sweeping the floor, and a man following it watching fondly.]

'scuse us- the janitor is coming through.

[Boy oh boy, he's going to grow real tired of this hip and it's crew real fast. This is why Mihawk tends to enjoy sailing alone - less of a bother. He sidesteps the little machine and peers down curiously at it. Janitor... Well, I guess every ship needs someone to do the dirty work.]

Is that your creation?

[Castle, meanwhile, remains cheerful.]

Nope- they came with my augment. Maintenance, which was a funny thing to give a writer, but I guess they didn't have anything to suit me better.

Augment?

[That's not something he remembers being told about. Or if he did, Mihawk didn't care to remember it. He's been more or less on the core thought process of getting his sword returned to him as soon as possible - not much else is worth bothering with if it deviates from that path. But a writer being made into a deckhand...that's quite the downgrade, poor guy.]

Noticed that bump behind your ear? [Castle reaches up to finger his own, but not for long.] It's some sort of mind implant that gives us skills that will come in use on our ship.

[Oh right, that. Mihawk was told about it some time ago, but he only remembered bits and pieces of those conversations - mainly the whole mind control kind of bullshit that made him want to skewer these Atroma people the moment he could get in contact. Skills that could be useful of the ship...hahaha. Unbelievable.]

I hadn't thought I'd need someone else forcibly instructing me how to be a sailor.

[Even if this vessel isn't like the ships he's use to. It's not that, it's the thought of being altered, forced to have something he never wanted or asked for. That, and the fact that there is something in his head is very upsetting. If they wanted to, couldn't they control them? They could force them to do as their "viewers" pleased. It's a very sick thought.]

You'd think so, but technology here is different from what everyone's seen before. I mean, we don't have advanced spaceships or anything where I come from, of course, but it shouldn't have been too difficult to figure out, and yet...

[Castle sighed.]

It feels too much like a way to make us depend on them, even a small bit.

[Yeah, space ships don't even really exist where Mihawk is from (except Enel's, but he doesn't count), but as far as he's concerned, a ship is still a ship. And no one should need an implant to learn how to man a ship - these things can and should be taught like anything else out there.]

Perhaps. [Though he doesn't...quite agree. Mihawk still thinks their is some deeper meaning to having a device implanted in one's skull like this. Ease of use? Please.] Though I'm sure that is not their only pur--

[Before Mihawk can finish though, he ends up smacking his head on a low-hanging arch as he side-steps the little cleaner bot as it putters close to his feet.

Screw this place right to hell.]

Oh, gosh! Sorry about that- this place is a bit cramped. [He grimaced in sympathy.] I've banged my head myself my fair share of times.

[And then, back to the subject at hand-]

I have no doubt that they put these things in for some reason. But they can be interfered with, even if we don't have the means to do it ourselves.

[Grunting, Mihawk pulls off his hat and rubs the area where his bumped his head gingerly, a scowl setting in on his lips. A bit cramped? Yeah...okay, maybe if you're average height, but Mihawk is a big guy and this is just...abysmal, honestly. He's liking being a part of this ship and its crew less and less by the minute.]

That would seem unwise yes. [His fingers go back to the space behind his ear, gingerly touching the protrusion. He really doesn't like this at all. Being taken from his world is one thing, having his sword taken and some bizarre implant put in his head is another.] Has anyone exhibited odd behavior due to these implants - can you say if you're witnessed anything of that nature?

Actually, yes- there have been a few times where people have suddenly either been unable to sleep or been sleeping excessively, or been unnaturally cheerful. Things like that. And there was nothing detectably wrong with their bodies, so it's likely these things were to blame.
