Anyway, I'm compiling a supply list of things we should look out for while we're on the planet's surface. Any ideas, Captain?

How are we for food? I--

[It's belated, because she's pointedly avoided thinking about food in any great detail since she arrived, nor has she actually eaten much, but she's hit by an unusual sensation now, this strange feeling of Knowing. It doesn't hurt, but that's just odd.]

That's...that's so bizarre. [She blinks, and frowns mildly. She's read a bit about the augments in the archive, but she can't say she's pleased about someone messing in her head.]

Um, I think cooking is my job...what do you have on the list, so far?

[And oh, the list. He holds it over for her to see. It's mostly basic stuff: food, weapons, medical supplies, shampoo, clothes, yarn, etc etc]

I think so, but molded proteins... [She makes one face, then another more hopeful one.] Maybe they won't be so bad.

[Clearly not enough people have complained about the food to her, but truth be told, she's not expecting very much, at the same time. They've done the space rigmarole already, and the food wasn't all that great then, too.

She eyes the list, though.]

Hmm I wonder if I'll be able to find a greatscythe, but if not a sword will do...but yarn? Whose idea was that?

[She raises an eyebrow, but it's not displeased or mocking, she's actually quite pleased about that prospect.]

...Someone suggested I needed a hobby.

That sounds like a good idea. I'm still not sure how we're supposed to pass the time aside from making sure the ship is in good condition. Is it for knitting or crocheting, or something else?

You'll definitely come out on top. And yes, I can! Knitting, crocheting, sewing, hand and paper crafts, gardening...I like doing a lot of things with my hands.

I'm a nature fairy, I get out plenty. What does that have to do with anything?

Well it's just...a lot of hobbies.

I mean, usually a lot of hobbies means you have a lot of time on your hands or...a lot of pent up tension.

Well, I mean, I like spending time with my plants sometimes, but I did have a social life.

[She foresees getting more tense as time goes on, though, and so she will just ignore that point.]

Those aren't even all of them, but anyway, it helps that for some of them, the better you are at least one of them, the easier it is to pick up others, since they need the same sets of skills, like hand-eye coordination.

[Sorry Flora can't help you there. Still has a no-crew policy]

Well, I'm pretty good at throwing fireballs at people- so I'd say my hand-eye coordination's pretty good. Maybe I'll figure out knitting yet.

That gets her to grin a bit, and she raises a hand to bring her thumb and forefinger together without touching.] Knitting's a little more delicate than tossing fire around, Kaneis, but it shouldn't be beyond you, if you're not impatient.

[But he is a little lazy, isn't he...maybe that's why whoever suggested it thought he might not be able to do it. But. But!!! Maybe he'll see this through!]

It's low stress, but you have to pay a bit of attention. If you drop a stitch, for example, the whole thing could unravel, and if you make a mistake, you can't just pull it apart like with another method, you have to unknit it.

Hey hey hey! Fire element is an extremely delicate element! Yarn can't blow up in your face or explode!
